[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
sze5003 replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Mine also didn't work after the latest update today..beta. But I had to alt tab out of dcs in VR and then open simshaker and selected start simshaker on the interface. Usually it starts automatically once dcs is on. -
What's odd was that we weren't even at the IP for that long. I'm glad I was able to to finish the mission on my own. Although I think I did miss out on the call of the trucks that broke down since wingman was supposed to inform me of that. Not something that can be controlled in terms of AI. We just have to wish AI is improved later.
-
Yup I passed that one last night but unfortunately somehow wingman ran out of fuel and ejected. To me it looked like he was shot but his call out was bingo fuel, then ejecting.

Mission 4 no instruction to disconnect parachute
sze5003 replied to some1's topic in Training Missions
Yup I realize there is a second button to cut it loose. For my settings, I have to open my cover on the button with the mouse first then press my hotas button to deploy it. Not sure why it's like that. -
As soon as I added the Mig19p
sze5003 replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Hmm try a dcs repair then clean up. I haven't installed the latest dcs update so I will check when I get home. But go to your dcs install directory inside the bin folder. Hold shift right click, open shell window here. Type "dcs_updater.exe repair" without quotes. Then when it's done do the same replace repair with cleanup. Other than that I would consider uninstalling and reinstalling the module. -

Try exiting, go back in but set up the axis commands last for the mig 19. Make sure you hit ok after you set the other commands or else they may not save if you go to the axis section after. -

It happens when you try to bind the axis of the mig19 first. Exit DCS and come back int, they should be working at that point. -
New weathered cockpit liveries for MiG-19P

Do these weathered liveries contain the same ambient occlusion lighting as the textures that were made available to help with the visibility? -
Announcement - new A-10C DLC training campaign
sze5003 replied to baltic_dragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I don't think he will do that, would be dissapointing. From the 4-5 missions I've tested for A10c iron flag as well as voice over work, all his campaigns are top quality. The iron flag campaign has a ton of information, and is indeed a tactical training campaign with tons of information to learn almost every useful aspect of the Hog. He is indeed working on an F18 campaign with members from the fighter pilot podcast, training missions does the harrier, the mig19 campaign too. Patience is key and worth it in my opinion when it comes to getting quality content. The thing is the Hog is complete while the others well are not fully complete. So it makes making a campaign for them more difficult (ex. harrier). -
What I've learned from the 7 missions I've played from the 3.0 campaign is that the wingman is very random. There were times I asked him to attack specific directions and using a specific weapon and they actually did that. There were also times when I used the general commands and he said unable or RTB. In mission 6 I asked him to attack some convoy that I had been trying to get for the past 10 minutes and he does one run in and then I find him later parked at our home airbase lol. I usually have a feeling of when he's going to actually do what you ask. It's after he calls out enemies that he will listen. If for example the voice overs say something about targets in an area, and you tell wingman to attack before he calls them out to you, he will say unable or negative and not do anything. But once he calls out those targets to you and bearings you can use the general attack commands and he will usually go to work. Sometimes he hits them and other times he just keeps saying running in and doesn't seem to accomplish anything. In weird extreme cases he left me by myself and went home and landed. This was one of the reasons I was stuck for so long on mission 6. So many targets and I basically had to get them all by myself because he would drop bombs on the houses and if I told him go get air defenses he would do run ins but not actually hit them sometimes. It does make it harder but at the same time you have to pick the important targets first and go after them yourself and just let wingman take out the others you shouldn't be focusing on. Hopefully one day DCS will have much better AI.

04-03-2019 UPDATED COCKPIT TEXTURES WITH LESS AO so wont be so dark
sze5003 replied to Raz_Specter's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
Working great on the Samsung Odyssey too. Even though the Odyssey has a darker color palette than the rift this new textures make it much easier to see and spot all the switches where I was having issues before. -
Yup indeed it's also much better in VR as well. I can actually see the colors on the radio buttons. Still need to turn on the lights in the cockpit even during the day but everything is more visible now and not muddled in dark shades. Even with cockpit lights off I can now at least see the switches distinguishing each one from the other on the side panels. Thanks a lot for the fix! I'm enjoying this jet quite a bit despite the f14 coming very soon. It trims easier than the f5 and this means I can actually quickly trim it and change radio beacon frequency without freaking out that I might end up going in all sorts of directions.

Yeah I figured this was the case after the third try. I am pretty sure i set up the ark 5 correctly but I am probably following the needles incorrectly which is most likely putting me in the wrong area. I'll use the map and kneeboard to make sure I'm heading along the correct route then check what the ark 5 needles show me. This way I could possibly work my way backwards and try to understand what the gkn is showing.
-
Really appreciate the quick response time! Can't wait to get home and try these out.
-
Yeah I'm confused on how to follow the needles on the gkn. I'll use the kneeboard and just make sure I'm going in the right direction. Because if I end up following the needle I end up somewhere else.
-
Yeah I need to find the binding for mark position on kneeboard and bind that to my hotas. I don't have that many bindings for this model so I should bind kneeboard commands on there too since I fly in VR. What's weird is I was following along with the navigation video and I never got the instructions to climb to 3000 after take off. It looks like this navigation training mission is a bit different. I wasn't getting any more instructions from the instructor at all.
-
A good thing to hear on a Monday! Hopefully it will be much less dark now. I'm guessing this should be available on the next update?
-
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here but I can't seem to get any instructions from the instructor after I take off and fly the heading of 120 as indicated by needle when the station is set to 1000mhz. I end up flying for a long time toward the coast, over some mountains. Am I supposed to follow the longer painted needle or the shorter painted one? I think I am supposed to get instructions to set the station to 662 and then continue but I never do. I think I'm doing something wrong but not sure. I have the ark needle to far before I take off. Station switch to 640-1300 and tuned to 1000 with the crank.
-
Now that you mention this I was doing the navigation training and almost crashed several times trying to find the right frequency. It's difficult to see what frequency you are on and the scroll behavior for slow scroll does indeed take a really long time. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be like that or not. I ended up flying in circles because finding frequency 662 was a bit difficult. Trying to tune it slowly wasn't doing anything and moving the mouse scroll wheel quickly was actually moving the frequency but I was skeptical that I was on the right one because I was just going by looks of the signal needle. I also fly in VR so unfortunately without looking at the dial it will be difficult to tell which frequency you are on but having a bind to lower and increase frequency for example with a hat switch may be useful.
-
Ohhh that one yea it's super hard to see I and to turn on all lights in the cockpit.
-
I bound a button to landing hear up/down (cycle) single binding and notice it will return to neutral by itself. If you bind a button to landing gear down and then another button to landing gear up you will have to make sure it goes to neutral by using your mouse. I prefer the up/down cycle binding as this returns it to neutral for you.

It is there but under axis commands. The wheel brake is a lever so it's operated like an axis. Works fine using my mcg grip.

Mission 4 no instruction to disconnect parachute
sze5003 replied to some1's topic in Training Missions
Yeah even though I have it bound to my hotas you do need to flip the cover first then press the hotas button. It doesn't seem like pressing hotas button twice will open the cover and deploy the parachute. Completed the landing tutorial and realized that it does indeed deploy if the cover is open when you press your bind. It would be nice to have the warthog flaps switch operate all three settings of the flaps. Right now I have it for flaps landing and flaps take off. But I'm not sure if flaps are required to be off before deploying the parachute. I did skid off the runway looking for the flaps off button before I deployed parachute. -
Mission 4 no instruction to disconnect parachute
sze5003 replied to some1's topic in Training Missions
I have the parachute bound to my hotas but when I press it I can't tell if the button is actually pressed in or not. I see the cover gets flipped up. I landed and once I pressed it I didn't see it get deployed. I pressed the button again and didn't see a parachute behind me. Does pressing gmit twice jettison it? -
Yup it's radio 1 not 2. Figured it out a lot later after doing the cold start several times.
