Went back to the Argo campaign for the first time in a few months today, just in the tiniest hope that this mission might be playable... and that screenshot shows what I was greeted with by the time I had only flown over the refugee camp. I mean, that is somehow worse than pitch black. That is a black hole. Incredibly, the lighting is even worse than I remember it being! At least the last time I was able to find and follow the road for a while.... I tried to descend in the hope the searchlight might illuminate, you know, something. The first sign of the searchlight was as I hit the ground. This is not a pop at the campaign creator (although I do think he should edit this mission until lighting is sorted out) this is a pop at ED, who frankly, should stop their work on new modules and sort out the basic freaking game-breaking problems such as lighting which have plagued 2.5 for almost a year now. I love all the updates and work going into the Hornet, but I think we deserve a reason as to why this hasn't been improved in all that time. Is nobody working on it?? Has it been forgotten??

Certainly a new aircraft module. The PG map will be more worth it particularly when there are campaigns released for it. Check out the new Red Flag campaign for the Mirage too, it's really good.

reported Cold Start Tutorial - APU shutoff lengthy sequence
LooseSeal replied to Ralphk's topic in Bugs and Problems
Still not fixed sadly... The Weapon Employment training mission is also bugged and doesn't allow you to even take off. Very disappointing that such an otherwise good module (which is rather expensive) has got bugs after all this time which should really be pretty easy to fix. Not good at all. -
Are you at an airfield marked as nominally friendly or enemy? For example, an 'allied' aircraft normally won't be able to repair at Sukhumi, which would be marked as 'Russian'. I think....
-
Didn't you, only yesterday I believe, recommend a guy on another thread to buy the Hornet? That's a fairly sharp change of opinion, even more so AFTER an update :-S Seriously though, I have played it and played it liberally - therefore it is, by definition, playable.
-
The A-10C of course. It's not even a question of being 'how' complete between those 3. The A-10C simply is complete for all intents and purposes, while the Harrier still has quite a bit to fix and implement. The Mirage has systems still to implement and is going to receive a big update at some point with a more realistic flight model. And module content should also be considered, in which case the A-10C wins hands down again (seriously check out Piercing Fury and Enemy Within), while the Harrier has basically nothing outside of a few Instant Action missions. The stock campaign for the Mirage (and the Red Flag one) is awesome though.

I'm quite sure there are plans for more than a few campigns, including of course the standard free campaign in the Caucuses we get with most modules. But you need to remember that the actual construction of the campaigns cannot begin until vital systems are in place, particularly the radar, ground attack weapons, TGP, etc etc.. So let's say there most likely will not be any campaign this year.

No offence... but DCS really isn't an FPS. If we ever do get better human animations then ED will most likely be working on animations to infantry units first (and carrier aircrew, as we have seen). The ability for pilots to get out of planes most likely isn't a priority, and in my opinion, it shouldn't be. Even IL-2 doesn't allow to climb out of planes, and it technically makes more sense in that sim. I guess the question is.. why do you want to get out anyway? There's not much to do outside the aircraft...

The Hornet often just crashes on carrier take-off for me during replays. First time it happened I thought "I'm fairly sure I don't remember doing that... right?" :-D The Harrier seemed to break when performing maneuvers during dogfights and missiles would often just go do their own thing. In fact, that seems to happen with any aircraft replays for me. The Flanker and Su-33, however, I've never had an issue with... Haven't tried other FC3 aircraft.
-
Not something I've ever noticed... I don't know, but maybe your expectations were unrealistic? Can you give some numbers as to what you were expecting versus what you're getting? Is this just in the Tiger? I can't dogfight for hell in that thing, it loses energy so easily and is a pig to turn under a certain speed. Bigger jets, though, seem to regain energy much faster when nose down.
-
I think it's more that these were specifically necessary to accurately model an engagement with Iran given it's one of their primary defences, especially for future campaigns being created for the PG map. They'll make for nice missions for the Hornet to take out with HARMs or LGBs.
-
Check which keys/HOTAS buttons you have them bound to in the controls settings. No problem!
-
You should probably be using the 'COMM1' or 'COMM2' for communication, not the standard 'communication menu'. I'd imagine that's the issue.
-
Either Piercing Fury or Enemy Within.. The former being more grounded in what the A-10 is realistically expected to do, the latter being a bit more 'action', if that makes sense. Not Stone Shield, though. Of course, the training campaigns are highly recommended to begin with as they are well-made and take you through stuff vital for the other campaigns.

Some more feedback Baltic Dragon ;-) So I just tried this mission for the second time (severely underestimated Phoenix missiles the first time) but the second time, for some reason, the F-16 flight took off quite a bit later which resulted in them saddling only when I reached waypoint 2, despite me flying at about 220 knots the whole way there. It also meant the F-16s used afterburners the whole way there and two of them ran out of fuel soon into the fight (those pesky Phoenix's got the other two, haha). But in the end we managed to take out all but one of the enemy (lost basically all of my flight as well though), just one Tiger. I had to declare RTB as very low on fuel, and was informed that the bandits were bugging out. Unfortunately, that last Tiger decided to follow me back and shot me down 30 miles from Nellis. Not sure what happened, but the Tiger definitely didn't bug out... Also, I think Arco is supposed to be a KC130 but is actually a KC135, so no option to refuel.

Yep! That helps, thank you! Although I'm now wondering why I only got 75... For the radios, I did tell them to turn them on, but had to do it individually. When I used the 'Flight/Radar/On' commands nothing happened, only when I asked them individually (Wingman 2/Radar/On, etc), which seems strange. Obviously no worries about the AI, at this point I fully expect them to crash into something, haha. I suppose nobody is looking forward more to the improved AI than the mission creators!!
-
If I could just ask you a couple of things here rather than open a new thread... So, I just flew Mission 4, but I couldn't seem to issue commands to the rest of my flight. I was tuned into the 'Initial' frequency, tried both Green and Red radios but for whatever reason when I requested 'engage bandits' or any other 'engage' command, they either didn't respond or said 'unable'. Also, one of the Tornado flight was shot down by the SA-15 (which they proceeded to blame on me.. haha) But I'm wondering if that affects the score for the mission? Maybe it should be that the score is only deducted if an enemy aircraft shoots them down, and not a SAM? Not much I could do about the AI being silly and flying into the threat zone :-D Another problem was that, when coming into land, I ordered the rest of my flight to anchor, knowing that they wouldn't follow me down. Unfortunately... each of the three then proceeded to fly into a mountain. I know this is a current big problem with the AI in general, but considering I only got a 75 score for an otherwise perfect mission... I'm not sure what else I could have done. I hope the feedback can be useful! :-D

And yep. Just quickly did it, and we can now confirm that I am, indeed, an idiot. I was so used to flying the Mirage on the Caucasus map that I didn't realise the coordinates for NTTR was North and West, not East. Gotta pay more attention to those little details!! Well, at least if anyone else makes this mistake then they know why :-D
-
I thought about that... I'll have to try it again when I have time. I thought it was unusual because it was almost exactly the same distance error as I saw in the training mission.
-
Not sure if it's just me doing something wrong (probably..) but for whatever reason the waypoints in Mission 2 are about 200 miles off... Waypoint 1 is about 210 miles to the south. I noticed this also happened the in the Red Flag training mission. I've definitely fully aligned the INs, so not sure what's going on?
-
No problem! It's understandable there are going to be bugs moving over to 2.5 and it still being developed :-) Now, I swear I'm just trying to be helpful, haha, but on Mission 10 I had problems with the flight lead not taxiing out. Moved him to another park spot and he's moving fine. Hope it helps!
-
Just a little update on the next Mission 8, the wingman seems to get stuck on the last corner during taxi to runway (beside the Hercules). I moved the Hercules to another spot and it's fine now, so maybe the AI wingman thought the C-130 was too close to the corner?
-
Yep! Moved him to the parking spot directly opposite and he is now rolling on his way :-) Thank you for the help! By the way, great great work on the campaign considering it's not DLC! You should be doing ALL the campaigns, hahah
-
Unfortunately the wingman is still staying in his hangar, for me at least..

I really don't think damage to the flight model is modelled much at the moment, early access and all that. I once flew through my own bomb fragments to the extent that literally every part of the Hornet had holes in it... absolutely nothing changed with flight performance though and I kept flying as normal. Not even a radio failure as it turned out!
