Maybe, but maybe not. It may or may not be the same office anymore, but it does give a small glimpse into their world. Even if 10 years old, it's still an interesting read :). https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3816660&postcount=1 :)

Partially, only one side of the link 4 can be used at a time. If using A, you see what the AWACS or Carrier sees depending on what the 14 is assigned to. If using C, you only see what the aircraft on the same network use. But not both at the same time. Add to that that Link 4 C is only compatible with other Tomcat's and not other aircraft such as the 18.

Too easy :) Gordo Cooper, The Right Stuff. "..... now I am supposed to be.. many things that are not complementary. I'm supposed to be capricious, I have been called a"Play Boy", I've even been called an eccentric, but I do not believe I have the reputation of being called a liar!..."

If MLP is their thing so be it. Why does it matter to you? You are in no position to judge. Back on topic. The 14 has been a childhood dream to fly for me since the age of 5. Unfortunately I was born in the wrong time period. Even if I hadn't had limiting factors that prevented me from flying for the military, I still wouldn't have been able to as the 14 was retired before I could have finished college. HB are now giving me the possibility to realize that dream. So, Yes. Thank you HB for putting the time into what will hopefully be the penultimate simulation of this magnificent beast.

The only difference in the engines that I could find was that the -400 had a roughly 4 ft. (50 in.) extension added to it to account for the 14's engine bay. I'm not sure how much that would affect the thrust so, maybe it was to account for the extra length? The only other reason i could think of was to limit the blast area behind the 14 for use on the carrier. I am by no means an expert though. My experience was turbo props where on 10-15% of the thrust came from the exhaust pipe and the rest from the prop.

All of the static aircraft you see on the carriers are placed by hand. They do not occupy "slots" so to speak on the carrier. That is why you see the many different layouts on those carriers. Some one took the time to place them very carefully. This does bring up an interesting idea though. Maybe if ED treated Client aircraft in the same way they do statics it would allow them to be placed the same way on the carriers and alleviate this issue? However, the problem lies in the AI aircraft. They most likely require slots to spawn from to aid in path logic to make sure they can navigate correctly on the deck to avoid crashing into each other and the player in SP. The same probably applies to taking off/launching and trapping/landing on said carriers. Edit: Now that I think about it... The AI controlling the ATC in the sim probably needs client and player aircraft to spawn in those areas for tracking purposes as well.

Looking forward to getting my hands on her :joystick::pilotfly:

We are still accepting applications folks! F-18 F-14 (pilot and Rio) Harrier Huey If you have any questions please feel free to pm Pacman or Myself or ask us via the website or right here in the forums!

Speaking of Liveries. I hope we can expect to see the template after the release date is announced. Cobra maybe you could chime in if you have time?

Navigate to your user folder on your PC (for most this is on the c drive),find you, then saved games, your version of DCS; Beta or Stable, then Screenshots.

We are still young and growing. Maybe in the future :)

Tuesdays and Thursdays are designated training nights and begin at 8pm MST. We are in the process of adding a training night on Sunday between 5-7 pm MST for members who live on the east coast of the U.S., other parts of the globe, or for those who can't make training during the week. Mission nights are Saturday and vary between 8pm MST and 9pm MST.

And still around too, at least when I was in. Cable TV was how we passed the time when the Jet's were in the air, there was nothing else to do during that time. :D Although there was only so much of the AFN Channel you could take before turning it off anyway lol. Oh, and thank you for the great write ups and little hints to help get ready for the Tomcat. Much appreciated.

And what exactly leads you to the assumption that the "YouTubers" didn't also pre order the Tomcat? "The whole internet is flying it already" is a very hyperbolic attitude to take. I get it. I'm just as anxious and excited as the next virtual pilot to get my hands on the Tomcat. Be patient. It will come. P.S. By the way Victory; being prior Air Force, I would appreciate it if you would stop comparing whining people to us (we aren't all that bad... at least the enlisted guys anyway) lol. :)

We are based in the US. MST or UTC, -7

These two specifically: We can argue physics all day long, but the simple fact is a half ton hose is not going to impart enough resistance to stop a 16-20 ton aircraft. It may provide enough aerodynamic force to seat the drogue to the probe and create a seal but it won't act as a brake or brace keeping the aircraft stable by resting against it. The system would simply retract the hose if too much pressure is applied. Too much lateral or vertical force and the drogue is designed to shear off preventing damage to both aircraft. the "braking action" that Akula is noticing is most likely the pilot reducing throttle after connecting to the basket and settling into formation with tanker.

Well, if the offer still stands, I volunteer as tribute :)

Thankfully yes :) I mean, if you want to wait for hours then more power to you. But assuming you survived and weren't removed from active service you would again, get a new jet to fly. Or in our case, respawn.

I can appreciate the wish for realism, but having been a former crew chief, you probably wouldn't want this 100% simulated. Land, thru flight inspection, wait for the next available fuel truck, 30 minutes to refuel after all the prep was said and done; then the weapons guys need to come out, then replacing flare and chaff cartridges that require you to ground the jet, remove electrical power, disconnect the batteries and clear all personnel (including you) from the area while they do the work, etc. Repairs? Just changing an engine can take anywhere from 2-8 hours+ assuming parts are available and you don't have to cannibalize another jet. Might as well just call it for the day and come back tomorrow or the week after that depending on the damage. You would get a different jet to fly at that rate. (this list is not the actual order of events but just an idea of what it takes to prepare an aircraft for flight, even a quick turn can take up to 30 minutes to an hour)

... In all seriousness though, still won't be disappointed if it ends up being the end of March :pilotfly:

How dose a Steam user joinan stabdard server?
Repth replied to BlueJacketWarrior's topic in Multiplayer
As long as you are running the same version of DCS as the rest of the squadron you should not have any issues. The only thing that might hold you back is the occasional lag between updates. They usually go live in the standalone before they do steam. Lately though it looks like they are pretty close in releasing in tandem, but you might have to wait a day or two. -
Hey! Another reason to look forward to the Cat, it'll be time for them to leave for the next 8 months :). Killing two birds with one stone, great timing HB

You will need to use the F10 radio option trigger and then attach the audio file you want it to play. If you use any of the default radio options you will get standard audio unless you replace the sound files. I'm not technically inclined enough to tell you how to do that without breaking the sim though.
