  1. Lets just collectively agree to let this post die in peace and move to the bottom of the list. Let's not even get started on that photo shopped franken- mashup between the F-14, KM, Lun, LCAC and E3.

    WIP KC-135 MPRS

That doesn't stop the AI from trying though :), pics to come later. Which brings me to a bug I found (yes I know it's still WIP) The first two aircraft in an AI flight of four seem to do OK when connecting to the baskets(hornets), but any subsequent aircraft after the first two (or the first aircraft using the mirage in my test) will try to refuel using the boom which ultimately ends bad for the remaining aircraft :D Correction: I was able to get all four Hornets in the flight to refuel successfully but the last two Mirages still want to use the boom. 3. Left hand only typing lol.
  4. It is when you break the jet :) (at least by Heatblur's WIP damage model). The reason I know? He mentioned it in the comments section of the video. "Knackered" I believe was the term he used.
  5. You get a discount if you purchase it before the early access release. In DCS, early access doesn't really mean that you get it before anyone else. It just means you get to fly it while the dev's finish up the module. But, if you wait until after the early access release then you will pay full price.
  6. Try not to take it as a personal attack on you DS. There has been a lot of heated discussion around the Tomcat as of late and it's getting a little tiresome and fraying some nerves around the community. That is where the comment around the December 21st release date came from. A select few got it in their head that it could only be that date because of the maiden flight of the F-14 and the community took off with it despite HB's announcement that it could be anytime this winter. For many, they let their expectations get the best of them and it caused an uproar of complaints and attacks against HB. The good thing is that Jester is only the basic implementation of the AI during the EA period and HB have let us know that the AI will grow in functionality over time :)
  7. In the f-18 the engines use bleed air from the apu to start. The fire test you perform closes off the bleed air valves in the aircraft. In order to provide bleed air for startup back to the engines you have to cycle them open again. That is the reason you have to move the knob around again.
  8. I could see how that could be misleading. Many people would think that winter 2019 means end of the year 2019 but in reality it means as early as December 21st 2018 or as late as March 20th 2019. So a good three month window and not a 12 month window.
  9. Listen to eminem's "lose yourself". the meaning will become clear, especially after last nights debacle :). Can't wait to fly her! :pilotfly::joystick:
  10. Seriously guys, this is getting out of hand. Heatblur made their announcement. They said this winter (which hasn't even started yet) and some of you are already piling up the hay bales and gathering the jet fuel to burn them at the stake. For those of you citing monetary reasons..... really? I don't remember Cobra traveling to my home and holding a gun up to my head when I preordered. Who's choice was that again? oh, wait.... mine, just like you when you chose to hit the purchase button. This may be the first time I have actually considered PM'ing a moderator to ask to have a thread closed. Cobra has way more important things to do than pander to your overzealous, and out of control expectations. Get over yourselves and then enjoy the Tomcat when it releases. Cobra, keep doing what your doing and don't apologize for anything in the update you are preparing for us as you stated in your earlier post. We all eagerly await the release of the Tomcat, and can wait until your satisfied with it before we fly it. Thanks for bringing this legendary aircraft to DCS world.
  11. Jag If you purchased the F-14 through the DCS store the module is automatically tied to your account and you do not need to enter a key. This thread is only for those who purchased the Tomcat from Heatblur directly. Hope that helps!
  12. What I would suggest is setting up the first two flights to take off from the runway. By default, if I remember correctly, CAT's 1 and 2 will launch before CAT's 3 and 4. While you can't set aircraft spawn locations on the ramp, you should be able to select the CAT that they launch from. Set up the third flight as uncontrolled and set them to start 5-10 seconds after mission start. This should allow you to avoid the aircraft colliding with each other. But i can't guarantee they won't taxi into you while waiting to line up for a launch.
  13. Set the S-3B to late activation and make sure its set to take of from runway. Set up its way points and then use an F10 radio trigger to spawn the aircraft in if needed.
  14. This is an old thread and I can't guarantee that it will work in the current version of DCS (open beta or "release" version) but it might just achieve the effect you are going for and no, we still can't select where the aircraft are parked on the Stennis; not yet at least. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132037
  15. Don't take it too personally Wizard. Heatblur have already answered this question as they have no plans to put development resources towards these features for the Bombcat since they saw limited use, and would rather spend the time developing the F-14D instead. I tried to find the original post but it's buried in here somewhere. They did express an interest to eventually make the D Cat. So all hope is not lost on a more capable strike platform.

  17. Let me start by saying Welcome to the forums Cab! Unfortunately this is something server side and won't be easily fixed by ED since all online servers are owned individually. You have to account for the server lag, your ping, your opponents ping, and all of the calculations needed to get an accurate firing solution, etc. ED are working on dedicated servers though and hopefully we will get some updated net code to alleviate these issues with them.
  18. That is the exact reason why. As for carrier ops, the anti skid needs to be off so that you have the maximum amount of break pressure available to you while taxiing on the carrier. With anti skid on, the brake system may not give you what you need when it counts because of it's intended purpose causing collisions or possibly an aircraft going overboard.
  19. The update was never meant to bring the 29 to full fidelity unfortunately. It was just an updated flight model and new external model.
  20. Sometime in the Winter. Heatblur is targeting December but there are no guarantees at this point. Set your expectations accordingly.
  21. The deck crew will prep the plane for launch before the pilot takes control of the aircraft. It's indeed that way on purpose.
  22. This has been brought up a few times. ED's response was simply don't turn the oxygen off. There is not an option currently to take the mask off so I guess if your OBOGS is damaged in flight it's best to eject. I can't comment on if ED's stance has changed toward this issue or not because we simply don't know.
  23. The CASE I pattern is a modified left hand traffic pattern similar to what you have at your local small airport. It simplifies the work for the controllers and allows proper separation between landing aircraft, Whereas if planes were to come straight in they could potentially be arriving from anywhere in a 180 degree arc and collisions could occur. Using CASE I one ensures that all aircraft are approaching the runway or landing area from the same direction. Edit: Sniped by Shadow
  24. What carrier were you using? If the Carl Vinson, then try the same on the Stennis and see if you clip through the elevator. If the Stennis and not the Carl Vinson, then it sounds like a collision issue.

    Pilot-Rio?

Good to know! I was pretty sure they could but, better safe than sorry. :D
