  1. Touche got: - VOR/ ILS - TACAN - IDN But no CDI on IDN, you to do without it. :smilewink: But it's true it's an interceptor operating from air bases with ATC to perform GCA (Ground Control Approach) to guide the pilot on axis and glide path if need be. I bet it's easier to do without CDI when the ATC is telling you when to turn on final, "2° left...1° right... It would be cool to have proper GCA in DCS. :smilewink:
  2. Yes please, that's very much needed
  3. On Rafale, Mica can make a 180° turn after firing to shoot down a target at 06 o'clock. Demonstrated twice with live firing against target drones. I think it should also be possible with latest AIM-9X (Lock On After Launch).
  4. You can start on the battery of course, especially if you are on a remote airfield. But yes, on a daily basis, they start with ground power to spare battery life. Because if you start every flight on battery it will have to be replace sooner. But battery don't wear out in DCS. It's a little bit like aero braking (nose high) after touch down. It isn't for breaking efficiency, it to spare braking system wearing. On short runway, front nose wheel down ASAP and brake. :smilewink:
  5. Yas, there is a bug. If you see G load indication in the HUD in NAV mode, you can't engage APP mode. Work around: select CAS, Special Mode FWD then AFT and unselect CAS. The HUD should be clear. I already reported the bug. :smilewink:
  6. Overall, you can attack on target's coordinates with buddy lasing. - plan a visible initial point near target area to update navigation. - or disable INS drift (considering that INS update doesn't really work as it should, I consider it fair enough). Then you can designate the + of the waypoint in the HUD, with buddy lasing, that's good enough.
  7. Right now, the IA not avoiding collision on the ground can break a lot of missions or campaigns, and that bug is on stable :music_whistling: It was reported more than one week before stable update, it's fixed on beta but not on release...
  8. No, it isn't DD.MM.SS, it's DD.MM.mm (1/100th of minute)

    Compass

INS alignment ? Fast alignment is 4 minutes (will drift faster) Full alignment is 8 minutes (should drift around 1Nm/hour) There is an option to skip that...
  10. Ok for the acronym :smilewink: I did in previous OB. I had the same behavior that you describe. I don't know if this is correct as IRL, but from my understanding: - when EMAV uncaged, it is slaving its Line Of Sight (LOS) to TPOD LOS. But isn't a valid condition to shoot since the laser isn't emitting. - when you hit pickle a first time, the laser start to illuminate the target. The EMAV then acquire the laser spot and is ready to shoot. - pickle a second time, the missile shoot and guide. Then LTD/R reset to OFF, and you need to cycle it again to ON for next firing pass. I won't update on this one since the radar seems broken
  11. You need LTD/R, not LST if you're designating target with your TPOD. LST is to spot laser designation by other units.
  12. This is a 1990 missile. There was no JDAM in 1990. There wasn't any GPS in car, and many planes didn't have GPS either. F-16 didn't have targeting pod, there wasn't enough LANTIRN for F-15E Strike Eagle fleet in Desert Storm. Some crew went to Saudia Arabia with barely enough training, they were fortunate to have WSO who were trained for GBU on F-4E. So by 1990 having a missile that can fly 50Nm, get close enough to put target in seeker FoV and send back video feed to adjust impact point was SciFi feature. [Edit] Sorry, didn't saw previous answers.
  13. That's NEZ indication, usually I don't wait for that. :smilewink:
  14. It’s a medium range missile. The practical range is comparable to AIM-7M, but with higher speed profile. The AIM-7M will really benefit from longer flight time very high at supersonic speed. So for Super 530D head on from 10Nm at sea level to 20Nm+ at high altitude. The higher & the faster and indeed you can improve the range PK. But for low altitude, if the target turn away the missile may go out of steam before reaching the target. If you can, keep the target above horizon to defeat beaming defensive maneuver.
  15. Guys, maybe this is an issue with AGM-65E. The launch procedure just changed in the Hornet, maybe it broke it for the Harrier. Not long ago a beta update broke AIM-7 for F-14B, and it was on ED side. That kind of thing happens from time to time. I can't be 100% sure, but maybe it isn't Razbam fault if something is broken after OB update.
  16. Not close enough apparently  Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :D I'm out :pilotfly:
  17. I don't know if DCS simulate this. But IRL, Paveway II control surfaces are all or nothing. Each time the guidance kit make a correction, the guidance kit control surfaces go full deflection, so each correction produce drag which depletes bomb's energy, and it may fall short. This is way the preferred method is to delay the illumination, guiding the bomb only in terminal phase preserves the bomb energy and maneuvering capacity. The aircraft release system should compensate for the wind. But if there are wind shears in various level of altitude, the bomb may drift outside of guiding parameters and miss. IMHO, with strong winds, releasing down wind makes more sense. At the end, GBU-12 may not be the best suited weapon for moving targets. You have AGM-65 for that purpose.
  18. To read DDI ? Yes absolutely.
  19. Are you using the VR zoom ?
  20. Every references I can find talk about GPS aided navigation. But this is mid-90' technology. Maybe it was good enough to guide the missile near the target area, but not good enough for terminal guidance.

    Buddy Lasing

Maybe that’s because now need to hold the trigger to manually illuminate the target ?
  22. Yes, you have to hold the trigger to manually illuminate the target.

    AG radar

I would just like to remind everyone that Mirage 2000C RDI is an interceptor first with radar optimised to work in HFR pulse. Any AG radar mode (apart from TAS used for ranging) is just used for navigation. This isn’t an AG targeting sensor like for the Viggen. So don’t expect too much about it, it won’t change the way you fight...
  24. After launch I orbit to stay away from the target. I monitor the TTS on store page, and I try to stabilise toward or away from the target but with wings level when TTS reach 0, so I can safely work head down.
  25. Does anyone knows if in game a Hornet with DL13 pod can guide the SLAM launched by another Hornet ? Apparently the capacity exist IRL.
