is it still worth it to buy blackshark?
JG-1_Vogel replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
BS for me is a wierd one. I love it, AFM and avionics are out of this world. Saying that no matter how hard I try, I keep going back to the Frogfoot... the Kamov is just too slow for me! -
Congratulations and a little complaint about FC 2.0
JG-1_Vogel replied to Svetlano's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Dude I bought a "like new" LOMAC disc because mine is completely F**KED.... 60p plus P&P off Amazon lol cheaper than a bag of chips! -
Simplified? Or more realistic? The frog was always a handful, even for more competent pilots? After hundreds of hours flying it I have no problems with it, but I'm curious as to how they changed the FM. I hope its not been "nerfed" too much. Does the Su-25 feel nicer with a linear axis set up? For me it was always very "twitchy" when trying to line up a gun shot etc compared to the Su-25T which was very stable. So never been perfectly sure if I should use a curved axis or a linear one for it.

Vidéo intro of Flanker 2, so nostalgic again...
JG-1_Vogel replied to Pougatchev's topic in Screenshots and Videos
For the time the graphics look great. Those were good days, Jane's F-15/18... Longbow 2... Flanker. Damn I miss some of those sims! -
Thanks for the replies guys, can't wait to get my hands on the new Su-25 model :). Are the key combo's the same in the options menu as they were in FC1? I was just wondering if I need to adjust my Cougar profile in Foxy!

Hey guys, I'm running XP Pro SP3 at the moment. No money to upgrade! Does this mean I need to use third party software? Or will XP just not let it use both cores end of?
-
I've not got FC2 yet, can't afford it :(... which is a real pain! Anyway, I'm using an E6600 Core 2 Duo chip... does FC2 now use multiple cores by default? Or do you have to use a CPU affinity thing like in BS? On a slightly different topic, whats the Su-25 flight model like now? Did they change it much? Lonewolf :pilotfly:

I know what you mean, you have to time it just right to avoid coming into range of MANPAD's etc. I usually start out at 3000m or just above with a 15 degree dive at slow speed with brakes extended, sometimes with flaps at one notch too to help slow rate of decent at slower airspeeds. On the whole though I don't make use of guided missiles, most of the time I start out at 5000m with a 15-30 degree AoA (depending on bombs stowed), release at about 3000m at pull out just in time to avoid getting shot at about 2500m. Nice to see the Su-25 getting some attention... it's often been ignored for the more fancy "T" and the A-10 for mud moving. I'm with Tflash here too.... love the old school pit... not a single MFD in sight :D.

Yeah. Like was said previously, it would cost too much to create a new graphics engine and sim from scratch. It's far cheaper to do things more gradually. I suppose the problem is the sim will always be a few years behind the newest technology. But, in a way that's a good thing. The amount of processing and other things that go on on screen to have a sim with DX10 and insane graphics would bring only but the very best and most expensive systems to their knees.

Hey, I'm slightly confused! As we know the Su-25T needs a linear axis set up to fly properly, I thought this was the same for the Su-25... but it was VERY "twitchy" like the SFM aircraft. If you have a curved axis it seems to fly much better... so my question is this... Does the Su-25 have an AFM? It seems to have some features like the Su-25T... like no magical trim reset button etc. Should I be using a linear axis or a curved one? If not, will there be an AFM put in there for when FC2.0 comes out?

I gave up trying to make missions ages ago for this reason. The last go at mission editing I did was a F-18 attack with Harpoons against the Admiral Kuz and a small battlegroup. All four of them dumped their missiles and got shot down without even trying to fire... widely accepted that the AI is completely retarded, one of the reasons why a lot of people hate the single player experience. At least we can look forward to the wonderful black shark mission editor :S.

I've always hated the weather system in LO. I miss the weather fronts that you used to get in Falcon. Taking off on a perfect sunny day, get to the target area to have a complete overcast unable to see the target. The fact that if you have overcast it covers the entire map is just stupid... very rarely do you get that much overcast without a single gap in the cloud! I just hope that a proper system can be introduced soon... perhaps with any engine updates they put into DCS:Warthog.

Yeah, I feel like a complete pleb... I wasn't turning on the laser rangefinder, no wonder it was so hard to get LA! Lol . Now it's pretty easy, and CCRP is ok too  :joystick::pilotfly:

Ok... I'm having a little trouble with the Rook. Trying to perfect my dive bombing, but can't figure out the best dive angle and speed. Low alt (1500-2500M) is not too bad 30 degree AoA and a speed of 450/500Kph will do the trick. However, for high alt (say 3000M +) I'm really struggling. I'm trying to get this right for taking out targets whilst flying above SAM coverage. There doesn't seem to be much around for the Rook, as it tends to get ignored for the Su-25T or A-10A. If anyone has a chart or track file they can host online I would really appreciate it. Also, how does one CCRP in the Rook? Is it even possible? As you don't have a TV or radar to "pinpoint" the spot where you want to bomb. I see my wingman AI do it in campaign missions, but I don't know if this is just the AI cheating lol. Over and out... :pilotfly:

Hey Ricardo... This mod is absolutely STUNNING left me speachless when I jumped in my T-brick. I noticed one thing though, you didn't make a version for the Su-25? My favourite aircraft! I realise the huge amount of work that has gone into each of these pits, but do you have any plans to make a pit for the Su-25? If not may I be so bold as to request one! With FC2.0 looming over the horizon I think a lot more people will be flying the Su-25 so it would be pure awesomeness if you did one for the old brick. EDIT: I just went a few pages back and saw your post. I just hope FC2.0 comes out sooner rather than later so we can see it in HD!!! :joystick::pilotfly:Do you have any teaser screenshots?

Is DCS:BS a Lock-On Killer ?
JG-1_Vogel replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I really love flying the Kamov, its a masterful piece of work and I think anyone who doesn't fly it is REALLY missing out on something... even if you don't really like helicopters! One thing I think that will hurt the DC series is MP. I think they should release a Western and Eastern aircraft of similar types at the same time, or close together. This would make online games much more interesting, and open up the possibilities of flying a Red Flag type mission using DCS airframes (drool!). For an example, we have the A-10C coming up. It would make sense for ED to have a Su-25 module to compliment the A-10, it would give people the chance to fly against each other without seeing A-10 v A-10 brawls. Similarly you could have a F-16 & MiG-29 module (awesome!) or a F-15 & Su-27 module. It gives the chance for people have good fights online with a variety of aircraft. It would also most likely increase sales a lot, as it would cater for the Viper fan boi's in the West (like me!) and the Fulcrum fans in the East (I love the mig too lol). Win - win situation for ED. Even if the "package" was £60 or more I would happily pay that for DCS quality. Personally... I'm just begging for a Harrier module! :pilotfly: Imagine how this would be taken up by online squads, it would sell very well I think. Only then I think will Lock On be "dead", as people will be able to get the veriaty of aircraft that they enjoy in LO in DCS, only with the pure win factor of DCS detail. :joystick: -
D'oh... fair enough vips :p

Its on the flash thing at the top... it says "we revolutionized joystick technology" etc etc and eventually says "new metal replica incoming ... HOTAS Warthog"

Note to the developers for the Apache AH-64A module
JG-1_Vogel replied to Ivonq's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm still silently wishing for an F-14 module... Of course that would come second to a Harrier module! :P -
159th Viper just brought this to my attention on the squad forums... http://www.thrustmaster.com/ Thrustmaster are making a Metal HOTAS for the A-10 like they did for the Falcon. Going to be absolutely f**king mentally awesome!!!!!!! :joystick: :pilotfly:
-
That kind of detail is a LONG way off for a flight sim. To be honest, the only thing I could wish for from that video in Black Shark is ground AI. If they would scatter and take defensive action after that first Vikhr hits it would be awesome.
-
After the A-10... to be honest although I would love to see a harrier modelled, I'm inclined to agree the navy jocks should get a fast jet... either a Su-33 or a superbug. ... Actually ... F-14!!!!

Harrier FA2 please! I want to go flying with the fleet air arm! How cool would it be to have FRS1/FA2 SHAR's done properly? The harrier has never really had much attention given to it so that would be my idea of simulation heaven. Given the similarities between the FA2 and the GR varients I don't think it would be too hard for ED to release multiple versions. Say an FRS1/FA2 and then maybe a GR5/7? The harrier is a classic British aircraft, and deserves to be developed into a high quality simulation. Saying that, perhaps because its a British invention no one wants to make it? Perfering the same old F-15's and MiG's? If thats the case can we have an AV8B lol?
-
Wish list: European theater, conventional war against the USSR/Russia would be AWESOME... just imagine the possibilities for mission builders! (Red Storm Rising anyone? :P) The Harrier! Please! Could release a two module set of the FA2 Sea Harrier complete with naval ops from "Mother", and a more modern GR7 (or older...). The Harrier is such an influential aircraft in modern military history, the Falklands War for example would have been rather different if it weren't for the Harriers of 800 & 801NAS from HMS Illustrious and HMS Hermes. A lot of us are begging for the chance to fly carrier ops... so something like that would satisfy both the Naval Aviators and the ground pounders living on dry land. Its also a fact that British aircraft are VERY under represented in flight simulations... for some reason people favour the American or Russian rust buckets! I would like to see older aircraft too, F-4 Phantom's and S2b Buc's from Ark Royal. But that probably isn't going to happen any time soon. Another interesting possibility would be the inclusion of multi-player platforms. With the inclusion of two seater playables, it raises the question of in the future will we see more complex platforms? For instance you could have a Sea King/Nimrod on ASW missions or an E3/E2C. The latter would make Red Flag missions VERY interesting! Human AWACS for me made the larger FoF missions in F4 quite immersive, that element is in my opinion absolutely SH!T in LOMAC/DCS. The human element in ATC/AWACS would make things so much more believable. Current Wish List: 1. Harrier GR?/FA2/FRS1 2. S2.b Blackburn Buccaneer 3. Tornado F3/GR1 4. F-14! 5. F-16C Block 40/MLU/50 Just my 2p :pilotfly:

Lol :megalol::megalol: I never thought about it like that... nice one!
