I bound lctrl+lwin+numpad to the keypad and lctrl+lwin+[1 to 5] for the osb buttons. You can bind the function keys (like A/P) as desired. I don't think this answers you question 100%, but in general it is significantly more efficient than mouse clicks. Thee are some iPad and Android apps that do ok creating a virtual UFC as well.

Could be a power issue or it could be an installation issue. Make sure you have plenty of power on the port where your TrackIR camera is plugged in. I recommend not using a hub for this device if you can avoid it. Otherwise, make sure you are using a powered hub. Also you may need to reinstall TrackIR. DCS shouldn't (and doesn't for me) just lose TrackIR normally.

The Mediterranean area in general would be cool, but maybe we'll get most of what's interesting with the Syria map. EDIT: I won't be surprised if the new free map is the South China Sea. ED is obviously working on the Chinese market.

If you put the escort ships in a group with the carrier (as ship 1) they turn with the carrier. They hold position poorly through the turn, but they eventually get back into position. To the best of my knowledge this doesn't involve CA at all. I have CA, but I've never used its features (knowingly) to setup an escort task for the my CBGs.

FYI: Growling Sidewinder put a decent of the updated AIM-120C vs SD-10. This isn't a buff that makes the AIM-120 "magic," but the net results might be a better missile. We'll see after everyone relearns how to defend against it if it remains as reliable or if ED decides its "too overpowered."

I think large private groups might benefit from a hangar spawn. The Stingers and perhaps the Grim Reapers or similar might have a legitimate need because group missions all start at the same time. 14 is plenty of spots in most situations so a decent compromise (especially in early access) would be to allow more than 14 spawn positions and then to do a good job managing the queue when more than 14 players want to be on deck at the same time. It would also be a cool way to spawn AI like the E2C, S3B and the eventual A-6 from Heatblur instead of just having them pop in from nowhere. I agree its a lot of extra work, but the cool factor might make DCS more appealing to new customers.

It would be nice if we could set an operating area for the carrier and mission start point and just let it go. For normal length missions you will probably never reach the end of the carrier's area. For the online missions that run for hours upon hours, you have to have a way for it to traverse back to the start position (or some other good point that provides a large amount of operating time) and for dynamic weather you need a way for the carrier to pick good operating points. For example, if the wind shifts direction and turning into the wind means that in T+5 minutes you ground the carrier, that's not good therefore the carrier should go to a good position in the AO that provides a longer time before it has to turn away from land. MOOSE AIRBOOS can do some of this already, but its not easy for a beginning mission designer to use it and I doubt ED would want to have to include a community script in its official missions to get this level of functionality.

Hopefully, Heatblur will at least be able to show off some progress.

But how else would ED know their loyal customers are paying attention?
-
Agree. Realistically, the last major update this year will be the 18th or maybe the 20th. Christmas & New Years Day fall on the following two Wednesdays.
-
I agree it would be nice if the TGP got some love on the 18th. I just haven't seen any indication in the last couple of mini-updates. If ED has said something about it, I missed it.

How does the SD-10 missile compare to the AIM-120C?
WOPR replied to MobiSev's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Which means the AIM-120 drag coefficients are just wrong or there's an error in your CFD model (I am not stating an opinion on either possibility). However, I applaud this level of effort and attention to detail. Hopefully DI and HB will help ED continue to improve DCS fidelity and quality. -
Wags has been discussing TWS in the last couple of mini-updates. Don't be disappointed when only TWS is added to the Hornet on the 18th.
-
Jello answers questions. You should ask him. He probably flew a different lot Hornet and may or may not have had the JHMCS.

Try setting a dead zone on the twist axis.

If you search in the right places, you can find evidence of (1) a cheek adapter for the Litening pod, (2) that it indeed can go on the cheek with the adapter. Unfortunately, if I link to this evidence ED will likely delete it because it is military information newer than 1980, even though it is publicly accessible.

Recommend OvGME or JSGME. I think OvGME is available from Hoggitworld. Both apps do the same thing and will make dealing with updates tons easier.
-
I think your confusing the Hornet with the viper. 2nd detent in DCS also runs the laser on the Hornet. I could be wrong, but I believe the first answer of "single stage trigger" was correct. If you search the controls, there is only one trigger control for the Hornet.

UPDATE and to save for posterity. DCS appears to do something with zip files in your saved games\dcs\livieries\<aircraft> folder. I had a zip file of a livery I had just made (the zip file) to share with squad mates. (It just has pilot names on it, it's not a good original so it's not worth asking for). After deleting the zip file, the problem went away. This most likely a "low priority bugs" for the mission editor bug and not specific to our beloved F-14.

I tried deleting F-14B.lua, deleting the UnitPayloads directory, deleting teh MissionEditor directory and no joy.
-
I've only seen it with the F-14 and it happens on Caucus and PG maps for me. I haven't tried NTTR.
-
I'm not sure what this could possibly have to do with the issue, but I tried it. No joy.
-
I'm not sure where to report this/check to see if I'm doing something wrong. It be a mission editor bug or an F-14B problem and it's impossible to tell (or it could just be a user error). When I place an F-14B on the Persian Gulf map on a ground start (not tried the carrier), the mission editor acts like the F-14 just isn't there. Symptoms: 1) icon is present. 2) unable to select icon. Can select another aircraft and then click on F-14 icon, but the icon doesn't highlight. 3) can see F-14B in the objects list. 4) can select the F-14Bf in the objects list. 5) no liveries or weapons are selectable for the F-14. Specifically the livery list is empty, and the armament screen doesn't show. 6) if I change the type of aircraft, all these problems go away (i.e. switch to A-4E or A-10C or...) 7) the correct thumbnail model doesn't show when the F-14B is selected as the aircraft type, nor does the weapon load out or other detail tabs in the lower right corner of the screen. 8 ) issue manifests in Persian Gulf and Caucus maps. 9) ran a repair and tried with no mods installed and got the same results.

[NO BUG] Nevada GPS/Nav/etc. Borked in Patch 2.5.5.38040
WOPR replied to WOPR's topic in Bugs and Problems
Okay, I get to retract the earlier statement about the year. :face palm: After digging in further, it appears that the mission date was unexpectedly reset to 1990 after being edited and saved. This might actually be mission editor bug report. I'm not able to try and fix it tonight, but I or a squad mate will tomorrow and I'll let you know for sure. I appreciate the discussion.
