It doesn't look like you're trimmed out at all, unless these pics are deceiving, your nose is positive and you're descending. You are constantly trimming out every 5 seconds or so yes? When flying the 51 rudder and elevator trim should constantly being corrected for level flight and max possible speed, if you're not doing this it's no wonder you're not gaining speed.
-
Because it breaks the immersion when we can't even load the aft tank at all to simulate the full internal load, let alone the added wing tanks, of one of the longest ranged single engine fighters of the war.
-
One thing I liked and always enabled when starting a mission was the camera/cockpit vibration while flying. (this was done by pressing the external camera jiggle key while being in cockpit) but, for whatever reason, this was disabled a few months ago
-
Even with the correct description there's still a minor bug with a mirror image on the underside of the left wing, even a couple of default skins have this problem
-
Same, with the recent couple of patches the fps in the Fishbed has dropped considerably, get almost double the FPS when flying other moduels
-
Speaking of TIR and F2 'camera shake', I used to be able to enable 'camera jiggle' while in cockpit to add cockpit vibration. I see this still works, but only If disable TIR altogether, so it's either TIR and no cockpit vibration, or vice versa. Cant have both at the same time anymore?:noexpression:

I know this thread is dead, but after updating to the latest version, cockpit 'shake'/jiggle no longer has any effect. I like turning that on because in real life the aircraft shakes and vibrates. And up until now we've been able to turn cockpit shake on, now pressing the camera jiggle key while in the cockpit does nothing. Exactly which file causes this and what can I do to get the old camera shake back? And yes, I already searched the forums, nothing was brought up on the subject.

Getting a new graphics card solved all my problems, literally. It sucks having to pay just to upgrade for one game, but what can you do. Having a 4GB graphics card made all the difference in the world for me. A GTX 960 runs DCS like a champ, 70+fps at all times. I cant really have any complaints at this point. And this is coming from someone who used to think the engine was 'unoptimized', well you just need the right hardware. A $180 card did it for me.

(DCS 1.5) What do your nights/water look like?
Slippery Pete replied to Slippery Pete's topic in General Bugs
(This will probably be my last post and I'll let the topic die if no one else responds) But I now realize there is always an ambient light source, and it's always coming from the south. Here we have the sunrise coming from the East, early morning. And yet, coming directly from the south, even though there is no sun or anything there to illuminate the water from its direction, there is still a yellow/orange ambient light ever present, clearly coming independently from the Sun's. -
(DCS 1.5) What do your nights/water look like?
Slippery Pete replied to Slippery Pete's topic in General Bugs
This is what the water/night looks like with overcast, underneath of course. Water illuminated, no moon. Time/calender settings set so it's as dark as I can get it. This is with the camera on top of the overcast clouds, facing away from the 'sun's position', as you can see it is completely black, but this only happens when flying above the overcast, and not looking anywhere near the 'sun' wherever it might be hiding. And this is what it looks like turning the camera 180 degrees around, towards the 'sun's last position', of course it never actually disappears over the horizon and is always there with constant lighting. The stair-stepping/banding effect never goes away. Never the less, while things might appear darker above the clouds, the water and land is always quite bright and well lit, it simply isn't possible to get a dark night in the game. Sunset, however, kills lighting on the land/water, and makes things seem actually dark. I don't mind this, I like it and think it looks great with how everything gets dim. But again, after this, when the sun actually 'sets' under the horizon, the lighting goes way up again, and the land and water textures are illuminated even brighter than they were before like in my first post with the orange water. It's like there's only about an hour+ where things be can be dark, while the sun is setting. Once 'night' starts, everything is lit up again by some magical ambient light. -
I've posted this in another thread, and done some searches but have never really seen anyone comment on this, so maybe this is purely a graphical bug on my end, but ever since 1.5 beta was released I always thought there was something weird about the constant ambient light, and especially how bright the water can be. This is the darkest I can make a night using the calender and time. Still there's much light, and no real need for NVG, the water is always visible. This is what I find the oddest though, there are times where my water is downright glowing orange, at night. Maybe this is how it is on everyone's end. I don't know. But I do know before edge was released black nights could be black, I haven't been able to replicate that since the update. Maybe I'll do a complete reinstall to see what that does, if others arent having this issue. .

Dusk/Dawn lightning -> horrible fps drop
Slippery Pete replied to FSKRipper's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This isnt really related to the FPS, but at night, not dusk, but night-night, my water is bright, and clearly visible orange color at all times. Is this what other people see? It seems odd. Might not be too visible in the pic, but I've seen other people's screen shots where the water looks dark/black, not sure what's going on my end. -
[REPORTED]Stutter/Frame Drops when moving Camera
Slippery Pete replied to Verdi's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Anyone know how to get civilian traffic working in Hotfix 2? As we're all moving back to that I would think everyone else would want the roads running again, I dont know where else to ask about this. -
[REPORTED]Stutter/Frame Drops when moving Camera
Slippery Pete replied to Verdi's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Same here. Stuttering, FPS loss, also graphical and sound defects... I reverted back to the 2nd hotfix I think, the one that fixed the MiG-21 not working after the initial 1.5 release. I'll stick with that for now. -
I don't play online, but I have an issue where playing single player, and either starting the mission multiple times, or playing different missions one after another, anything that has to do with loading new aircraft or the map over again, will result in the game either crashing/hanging, or a severe drop in FPS. As if the memory and resources needed to run the game are just getting dumped or something.
-
Yeah, first thing I noticed was the slow down when zooming into and flying over the dense forests. Of course, the option to turn off tree shadows was removed. Other than that the FPS is great.
-
Is it correct that the MiG pilot never wears an oxygen mask? Seems odd, is that just something that hasn't been modeled yet?

Can we have different levels of G tolerance in DCS?
Slippery Pete replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS Wishlist
There should be a weight scale and blood pressure test kit that hooks up to your PC and your vitals are entered into the game's data. Your pilot's weight and health is based off your own. Im joking of course, but as a 140lb runner and trainer I've often thought it would be hilarious if such a system was introduced for online games like CoD and Battlefield, then all the couch potatoes who rule servers by playing all day would have their world turned upside down as their characters could barely move. -
Leatherneck new facebook image/picture
Slippery Pete replied to NORTHMAN's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Im sure someone else brought it up before (Im not reading 21 pages to find out), but other than the obvious Imperial Japanese flag, my thought went to the Sundowners, as being a hint of what's to come, but I suppose the cat's out of the bag at this point... -
Look for the key command for respawning or resurrection, which ever it's called, this with a mission with air starts, would allow you and someone else to continually dogfight over and over again.
-
Ohhh. GPU, as in Ground Power Unit, I thought this would be about some meta idea about a 3D model of a graphics card...
-
Dogfights is best... listened to, not watched, as the cgi shown is completely counter-intuitive and not at all accurate or represented of reality. Also the narrator is way too enthusiastic about it all.

P-51 vs Bf-109 dogfight impressions
Slippery Pete replied to WileEcoyote's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
No, what matters is what version of the P-51 those late-model 109's and 190's were going up against. Ordinary late war P-51D's. Not post-war Super 51's. You might as well go fly the F-86 against the K4 if all you want is an advantage. -
It's the decals that make it go fast :smilewink:

I'd kill for an F-117, haven't flown one in a sim since Jane's USAF. Sneaking around in the night, pickling off a couple of bombs and egressing over SAM city, sounds fun to me.
