  1. What is the reason for not using SSAA with VR? Terrain Object Shadows • Default – Flat shadows from trees, buildings, poles and towers on the ground + shading. • Flat – Flat shadows from trees, buildings, poles and towers on the ground. • Off – Shadows from trees, buildings, poles and towers are off.
  2. Hey dburne, with the free time we all have I've been spending late night in the Big Screen. I was talking to someone with the same mic cut-out issue you describe, others have mentioned the issue as well. Maybe you could shed some light on these recent changes. I don't know if it just happened with the last update a couple of days ago but I've been able to bump my A/F from 4 to 16, visible range from high to ultra, SSAA from off to x2 and MSAA mask size from default 0.41 to 1.0. without any noticeable drop in performance/FPS. Can it be just a good job on the latest couple of updates? I appreciate the difference with the bump in A/F, and Ultra, but not sure if I'm getting anything else with the other 2 bumps? By the way I really like the Super Carrier!

  4. First let me thank you again for your responses! I've been working for a few hours at trial and error and this is what I've come to understand. 1]If I only mod 10 sdef files and put them in their correct folder tree structure in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Sounds BUT I don't mod or add any wav files...where then are the 10 wav files actually located whose sound is now altered by the 10 sdef files? 2]The config. add-in "sound.editor = true"...just so I understand this, I take it this add-in allows for in-game sound moding without having to always shut down the game with every tweak of a mod? Are you saying this button when pressed in-game will unload 'saved games' sound files currently loaded into memory, if so how would I load the next file(s) to be used in replacement?
  5. Did you mean search paths for files first look in the saved games then move onto core?. Otherwise saved games, mods would never get played.

  7. So the wav and sdef mod files in saved games must be in a folder location with the exact folder tree structure the game instruction code tells it to look? If so should we copy the original tree structure from earlier versions we used before?
  8. 3)If I want to add sdef files to saved games there must be a corresponding ogg or wav somewhere...is this correct? 4)If yes to 3) can I put the corresponding ogg or wav to any location in saved games so long as it is mapped correctly in the sdef ie., wave = "Effects/Weapons/Snare" can I change it to wave = "Effects/Cockpit/Snare" so long as I put the ogg or wav file in Sound/Effects/Cockpit/Snare?

To clarify: 1) what exactly are you referring to, 'to reload SDEFs', the game or the mod SDEFs and from which folder? 2) ' purging ogg and wav files, flushing unused samples from memory' can you please explain I have modded my saved games sounds by putting SDEF files in the sound folder, can you please tell me if I should be mapping for example, wave = "Effects/Weapons/Snare" by editing the wave = to the exact folder where the ogg or wav file is now located but there doesn't seem to be any ogg or wav files anymore so where do I map my SDEF files to?
  10. I tried it at 1.0 and at 0.1 no apparent change in visual or performance. Am I supposed to see an improvement where there are jagged edges like what AA would do?

I have 2 questions: 1] what exactly does this line in config. do, I saw the button upon startup, sound.editor = true 2]to use sound moding is it necessary to build in saved games an entire older style folder structure like there used to be in the core files and put the sdef and wav files there?
  12. The disconnect issue seems now to be reduced to 1 server, Acrobatics.
  13. After requesting start-up I don't see anymore comm options...it always shows request start-up in the comm menu.

  16. The animation of the hold back bar at launch, being signalled into position, all just great. Anyone know where I can get info on all the comm talk so I know what they are saying to me? Anyone else getting CTD about 20 min in MP?

  18. The CTD in multiplayer has been going on for over 2 months and is still present after yesterday's update. On a positive note, FPS seems higher...until you CTD:( Thank you.
  19. Unfortunately had to stop MP going back about 7 weeks. At first could get connected but would end up locking up 15 min into mission then CTD. Now it's a combo of no server connection and CTD 15 min in. So I'm not doing much flying just enough single mission to keep my skills...checking everyday for the wishful update!?

  22. What I wanted to try and do is give another person my IP address and have him connect direct to me so I wouldn't have to set up a permanent server.

  24. At the bottom of the Multiplayer window there is a button 'New Server'. I opened it and set up a server but I don't see it listed in the Server Name/Mission name of the Multiplayer window. How do I get people to see my server name and mission name so they can join? Thank you.
