Last week's update...mirrors, sound and displays
fitness88 replied to fitness88's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Totally still not where the brightness was. Love the mirrors! -
Last week's update...finally have mirrors working properly so I can actually see aircraft around me. Great sound improvement in-cockpit and out, have read some aren't so pleased. EXP1 2 3 seems to be working, will have to do more testing with it. DDIs and AMPCD lighting getting brighter but still needs improvement...and why is the brightness knob still not working for the AMPCD? Not a bad update with what I've seen so far...moved further forward. :thumbup:DCS:thumbup:

Any chance for an update regarding the progress of the F18?
fitness88 replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Has impacted my flying time...HOTAS has been relegated to my drawer instead of being a desktop fixture. Has kept me from buying other modules. Have finally become resigned to the concept...it is what it is. -
M-1 -2 S-1 Why not use your more powerful Logitech mapping software. The M-1 -2 S-1 are setup by default to be alternative layers for your HOTAS.

Should I use flap to land on carrier while adverse wind?
fitness88 replied to MivwTaupos's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
You need to be on angle of attack of 8 degrees when landing for the hook to grab. -
It definitely loosens giving very smooth action...prior to use initially give the throttles several full range movements.

symowallo I'm out of ideas:book: SACG_Yeti seems to have an interesting post for you...let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

I saw some beacon mod scripts for download that add beacons to some of the missing airfields... user downloads. Thanks again for the info.
-
Thanks for the response. I don't fly the real world I fly DCS...I'll use all the tools I can that helps with DCS aberrations. Do all airfields in DCS have beacons?
-
How do you like the MFG Crosswind? Looks like top of the line?
-
To have a course line that will take you to the runway you're assuming there is a waypoint at the airfield to get a course line. I'm talking about flying 28 from point A to point B...not from a WP to a WP.
-
It's supposed to mark where you are allowing you to use a point of reference of your choosing very quickly. One use could be when ATC instructs you to fly heading 030 for 28, click mk point and watch the numbers when you've gone 28. Yes we can all do the math but this gives immediate and easy distance. Also you can instruct your wingman to simultaneously mk the same point you do for a rendez-vous or any other reference. There are many other uses.

left & right DDI still not as bright as it was...
fitness88 replied to fitness88's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I'm not sure but it's possible part of the issue is what's good for monitor playing and what's good for VR may not be supported the same way. Do the Devs test in both...? I'm sure they are seeing discontent all over the VR forum. -
Anxiously awaiting this... MK Option. "Pressing the MK option button saves a mark point at the location of the aircraft when the button was pressed. Up to nine mark points can be created. After the ninth, the first mark point will be over-written and so forth. Not implemented at Early Access release. (Coming later in early access)" :music_whistling:

BTW, I get no answer, where do you communicate for replacements/parts?
-
"the landing gear wants to come down if I am slow enough" This is normal as per manual page 65...Primary Radar Low Altitude Warning. If the landing gear is up and locked and the radar altitude is less than the Low Altitude Limit index, the primary low altitude warning tone/voice alert is heard in the pilot's headset. A “Whoop, Whoop” warning tone is heard. I've heard of a pinched wire harness causing strange behavior [i believe this was in the blue version and corrected in the grey], do you find it happens only when moving the throttle or other button/switch?
-
Besides allowing for different RWR tgt selection when designate is pressed instead of unlocking, what other behavior change does LTWS bring when engaged.

Have you tried using a USB 2.0 port on your computer? Are you using any adapters or extension cables? Are you mapping through Logitech and/or DCS? In Logitch settings I zero out the stick dead zones [primary influence] and only adjust dz from the DCS settings [secondary influence]. Is it always the same switch that activates automatically or does it happen under specific conditions ? Have you checked for conflicts between input commands ...using same key combo from DCS and Logitech. Sorry if I'm asking anything you've already mentioned but I'm on my way out.

Have you tried setting your shortcuts and .exe to Run as Administrator?
-
Very interesting... Thanks for the ghosting explanation. I have the grey X-56 and have been using all the controls for both stick and throttle without any ghosting...happy to say. Are you using the newest drivers and software? The unit is very smooth and I only need a minimum dead zone of 3 for pitch and roll, but I do wish I could figure out how to get rid of the center slop. In actual flying it doesn't really impact the movement because once out of the center you don't feel it any more but it bothers me never the less just because it's there. I can't believe you are using 40??

The latest update fixed a bit of the sunlight washout on the left & right DDI but they are still not as bright as before these issues started.
