Not if you bomb the taxi-way too, you can shut down all but the biggest airports to players with 4-8 GBU-31v3s. Runway/taxiway bombing has and is being used to pretty great effect on MP servers (BF & DDCS in particular).

Windows Mixed Reality crashing with a 14-2 Error during gameplay
backspace340 replied to docvego's topic in VR Bugs
One other thing to try is putting a powered USB hub between the headset and the PC - that fixed the issues I had with the Odyssey crashing in basically the same way yours is (though I can't remember the error code). These things are really sensitive to USB power issues. -
So is it going to be changed?

I'm using a TWCS throttle (so no, not a Warthog), I use unrealistic slew and I get auto-lock without pressing TDC Depress.

Some people have reported issues here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=226602&page=38 Seems to be isolated to particular setups / controllers. Works perfectly fine as described for me.

There hasn't been a fixed schedule in a long time - they're making lots of changes so we've had a few periods of 2-3 OB updates in a row before something goes to stable/release. The days of one week OB, one week stable/release are long gone. There's just been a stable release though, so next up will be OB - that's the only thing that can be guaranteed.

If you map two of the AMPCD buttons to your hotas you'll be able to ripple all 8 in a few seconds at 8 different markpoints - just map WPDSG and the button to advance waypoint, then you pickle, advance, WPDSG, pickle (and repeat until empty).
-
It's more than four, that was just a limitation in that other sim it seems - it's a lot more in the real aircraft.
-
It'll be green on the DDIs i'dve thought, they can't do black and white. AMPCD is probably black and white, but I don't know.

Since Wags said they were moving to monthly updates (at the end of March) there have been 8 open beta updates, 7 of which have had changes to the Hornet in them. That's an update more frequently than every two weeks. I think it's safe to say that the move to monthly updates didn't happen.
-
According to NineLine on the official ED discord - no chance of a TGP today, and next open beta update is probably going to be next Wednesday. So best to reset your expectations accordingly - doesn't seem like the TGP is going to arrive in June.

I'm not sure how much that would really add to the realism to be honest - if an aircraft either didn't have a Mode 4 IFF transponder or it was damaged, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be able to fly in an active warzone. Seems like most Mode 4 IFF codes are entered via data cartridge (for the modules we have) as well, and default to always on (this is true for the Hornet, anyway). So you're asking ED to spend however many man-hours and money updating every single module to work on something that once implemented really doesn't have much practical difference from what we have now in the vast majority of scenarios/missions that are played in DCS. There are much more important things to add to the game that will affect gameplay in more substantial ways.

Interesting stuff. It seems pretty hard to find any public info about the SD-10/PL-12, and there don't seem to be any test firing videos online to compare against. What I did find was this Chinese SAM based on the PL-12, burn time of this one (assuming it's not been slowed down), is around 11s: Supposedly it's derived from the SD-10A with an extra booster added on - so you'd think the PL-12/SD-10 would burn for the same/less time, not more. It'd be interesting to know what stats/info Deka is using to base their missiles on.

That's funny, when I crash I get a new plane and pilot for free. Did you accidentally sign up for the Navy instead of switching DCS on?
-
If you use stored heading alignment, it takes 2 minutes to fully align. Lots of multiplayer servers use that setting (DDCS & GAW off the top of my head).
-
Deka added the PL-12 to the game recently and someone compared it to the AIM-120C, and it's a significantly better performing missile - it burns for more than twice as long and the effective range was basically double. I know nothing about the actual stats of the missile, but does that seem right? Their quick test is here: https://streamable.com/cupzi

You can, just needs you to click some OSB buttons in between drops, so less fluid. I've bound the advance waypoint button and the WPDSG button to my HOTAS to make things easier. To do a multiple drop you then just make 8 consecutive waypoints for the targets, select the first target waypoint, press WPDSG and press pickle. Then as quick as you can you just press 1) advance waypoint, 2) WPDSG, 3) pickle, and repeat that for every waypoint/target you've got left. Takes maybe 1 or 2 seconds longer than doing it with PP mode, but you can just set the targets in the mission editor, so a lot quicker that way.

Persian Gulf is a much nicer, more varied environment than Nevada. I wouldn't bother with FC3 for free-flights, it takes about 5 minutes to learn how to start up the Viggen and if all you're doing is free-flights, that's all you need. The complicated bit with the Viggen is employing weapons, and if you don't care about that then it doesn't matter.
-
That's not the case - Wags was pretty clear, there's only a barrier to ED making modern Russian modules, there's nothing stopping third parties.
-
You can set the elevation for waypoints and for PP targets. Either PP or TOO both need an elevation set for the bombs to guide correctly (and most of the time that would be set at ground-level, in MSL, unless you're trying to hit the top part of a building or something).
-
That's true for the Rockeye which are dropped from dumb pylons, but it might not be true for the JSOW - it's on a digital pylon, so the plane can talk to it (as you can see by us setting PP missions etc). Might be possible for the fuze to be changed in-flight.
-
You're kinda cherry picking technologies to fit your wish - why not add the advanced engine modelling for the TF-30 / F110? If you add that in, the obvious choice changes to the F-111. Personally, I think by 'our own technologies' they just meant Jester and ground radar - A-6 seems the obvious choice given they already have the model for it and they've explicitly told us they want to make it into a module. Personally I'd rather a modern redfor two-seat fighter like an Su-30.

[REPORTED]Aim-7 Radar frequency can't be set for RWS
backspace340 replied to backspace340's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep, really old issue, reported with a track 8 months ago: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=223271 -
1) it's still WIP - it's still missing a TGP, TWS, and the ground radar, and a few more weapons. Air to air wise its got 120s, the 9X, and the helmet mounted sight, datalink. Air to ground its got Mavericks, HARMs, laser guided bombs, JDAMs, JSOWs and dumb weapons. TGP is meant to come next week, but will probably slip into July. 2) both stable and open beta are past 2.5.2, download open beta to get the newest Hornet upgrades first. 3) it's DCS, old tracks are very unreliable. 4) the stennis is free and ingame already, the new carrier is a paid add on with deck crew and better comms.
