Imacken is still using 1903 isn't he? There's a bug with that which makes all WMR headsets blurry, he'll need to roll back to 1809 to see the proper image clarity with the Reverb.

Just download the one that matches your OS - I downloaded the 64 bit version here: https://digi.bib.uni-mannheim.de/tesseract/tesseract-ocr-w64-setup-v5.0.0.20190526.exe

This seems more like an explanation for why it would be ASL rather than AGL. Your plane knows it's altitude in feet ASL (unless you're below 5kft AGL and have the radalt on).
-
The easiest way to set up a mission like this where it's not easy to hit airfields would be to set up SA-10s 40-50nm away from the airfield in the direction of the attacker's approach. Good luck getting up to altitude and getting in range to drop them with an SA-10 shooting at you. Hide them from the F10 map so they can't just plug the coordinates in, that'll stop most OCA attacks on the airfield.
-
Maybe they're saying that although it's entered as ASL, you always have to pick AGL+1 as a minimum. So at sea level, you'd put 1ft ASL. If it's in a mountain at 1000ft ASL, you'd enter 1001ft. That's the only way I can make sense of it - I've been dropping JDAMs accurately with hundreds of feet 'elevation' entered and it's hitting tanks on the ground at the coordinates.

Different coordinates for two JSOW on one station
backspace340 replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
You can do it in one attack if you set up a PP1 & PP2 for each station. Before you attack, step through and make sure everything is on PP1 - then as you get in range you can pickle four times (it'll automatically step through the stations after each pickle), after the fourth pickle you need to press the button for PP2 and then pickle again and repeat that for the next three stations. I've mapped OSB 7 on the LDDI to my HOTAS, so I can just click Pickle x4, OSB7, Pickle, OSB 7, Pickle, OSB 7, Pickle, OSB 7, Pickle - and 8 bombs launch in a couple of seconds and hit 8 different targets. -
90% of players are in the Hornet or Tomcat, if you put them both on the same side, no one wants to play as the other side. So competitive PVP MP servers split them up. If you want them on the same side in competitive PVP, you might need to start your own server - but good luck attracting anyone to play against you.

Runways and ammo / fuel storage don't move, I've spent all weekend knocking out enemy airfields in MP using that tool.

It's bugged - ED bug I think, don't believe it works on the Mirage either.
-
Try this in the meantime - https://github.com/Santi871/DCSWaypointEditor/releases. You can capture way points from the F10 map and then it can enter them into the Hornet for you (while you start up or even while you take off and head to the target). Great for the JSOWs. He's going to update it to take account of the new PP functionality, but it works great at the minute with TOO.

So Wags has been talking about needing the new waypoint/data cartridge system in place before we get PB, which makes it sound like you won't just be able to make a PB mission from the cockpit in flight like we can with the JDAM PP.
-
I assume it means something akin to TOO mode for the JDAMs - i.e. where you can launch at a TGT rather than having to enter the coordinates in beforehand. From how the HARM has been implemented in other sims, if no PB mission is selected, then PB can use the TGT as a PB TOO mission. As far as I know, PB missions will have to be set in the mission editor, so this would allow us to set a PB mission on the fly and loft a HARM towards a set of coordinates that weren't set up beforehand.

You might want to stick a powered USB hub between the headset and your PC, that solved a lot of flickering issues on my WMR headset. Also SteamVR shuts down if the headset disconnects, which closes DCS, so if you temporarily lose connection (which happened a lot to me without the powered USB hub) then it looks like the game has crashed (when actually it's just the headset switching off/on quickly).

In HSI data, go to A/C and change the format to DDMMSS.SS.

Any chance you can give us a quick through the lens photo in both the Rift S and Index looking at the same scene from the same perspective? Would allow us to (finally) see whether Valve really did pull off some voodoo and increase the FOV without sacrificing PPD, or whether it really does have less PPD than the Rift S (which the paper specs suggest).

If you have LTWS enabled (which it is by default), then TDC depress on a target will designate it as L&S (launch and steering target), TDC depress again on it will put you into STT or if you have AIM-7s equipped and selected you can just fire and it will auto-transition to STT. Once you've designated an L&S, you can designate a second target as DT2 (designated target 2, I'm guessing) by TDC depress on a second target. If you'd like to skip straight to STT, you can use Sensor Select Right (AACQ) when hovering over a target. You can also just turn off LTWS if you'd prefer by going to the DATA sub-menu on the ATTK RDR page and unboxing LTWS. I've got no idea what DTWS is.

It doesn't have to be locked to IFF, is I believe what he was saying (which is true).
-
How do you make an *hour* long video and not cover the stuff that's displayed on the screen?! Anyway, it's answered here: https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/F/A-18C#SA_Format
-
You don't have to touch that switch. Sensor Select depress does a Mode 4 IFF - but you don't have to touch the mode 4 switch to get it to do that. To get full use of the SA page, switch it on, press DL on the UFC and press ON. That's it.
-
That's already ingame? Your radar contacts appear on the SA page, along with datalinked friendlies and enemies.
-
Those very fast targets splintering off the actual target are probably missiles.

THere are really only three things missing in DCS: AV-8B
backspace340 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in AV-8B N/A
Can the TPOD be slaved to the DMT yet? Can you make new waypoints without having a waypoint already (without having to work around it)? If you have a TGT and you make a markpoint, does it take the target's coordinates or just where the aircraft is? Think there's a few more than three things... -
He seems to have a bit of a delay between where they are when he decides to call it out and when he actually calls it out - so the position is right but for a couple of seconds before. Not particularly helpful in a merge as people tend to move pretty quickly.
-
Are you talking from the perspective of shooting them, or have you flown it yourself? In my experience after almost every missile I get hit with the engines flame-out and can't be restarted, it just takes 30s or so until it's dead stick so it's not as immediate as other modules.
-
That's a bit unexpected to be honest - just looking at the things that are left that we've not heard about yet and the normal pace of delivery, I'dve thought the Hornet EA would've extended a long time past early/start of Autumn. The biggest piece we've not really heard about is the AG radar - is that a lot further along than it seems then?
