  1. Very nicely done. I have a 1/32 Tornado GR1 still in the box where it’s been for about 4 years now! Need to re-arrange my ‘me’ room a bit before starting it so I have somewhere suitable for it to be once complete.
  2. Think your timeframe is correct, RAF F-4 got them early ‘82.
  3. Both. Worth reading - https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/1-112/fm1-112.pdf
  4. Terrain/environmental masking, pop-up to attack, limit your visibility to the enemy, plan your ingress and egress routes to maximise use of terrain.
  5. Scoundrel ! !
  6. I’m guessing a real-world application, likely a show car sort of thing.
  7. Every move you make has a calculated risk. Minimum burner is solely to deny a visual pickup. Why make it easier for your foe? The ideal would be if your element/flight has a large-ish height split, to compound the enemies problems. A forward quarter heater can be dealt with by a sound and timely countermeasure deployment and evasive counters. If you expect to be shot at its not a surprise when it comes, and can be dealt with clearly and quickly because you have practiced many times before. And - for the most part, those whom we expected to go against didn't have 9 Lima's or Mike .
  8. My ex-wife had a similar mentality
  9. Lol. And we’d all need ma-hoosive hard disks
  10. If I remember correctly involves the stand off spiker, designating from altitude, with the weapon carrier running in low and fast, tossing from 5+ miles away.
  11. Amen to that brother.
  12. Thought there were 18? I’m not saying I have a great memory, believe me I don’t, but I immediately zoned in on that. Selectable only in the shop.
  13. It’s typically naval aircraft that have internal ECM, Air Force generally prefer podded installs. Generally though - F-15 being one that breaks the trend.
  14. Big Bertha. (Journalist to Hoser, after the big toe transplant) - “it doesn’t look like a thumb, they did a great job”. Hosers retort - “sure f#*£ing smells like one . . . “
  15. ??? Not so my fine friend. “Chuck” DeBellevue? 6 kills from the coal hole.
  16. Image found here http://aviadejavu.ru/Site/Arts/Art7194.htmhttp://aviadejavu.ru/Site/Arts/Art7194.htm Hope it’s of use to you?.
  17. Just a small nit-pick, the PBY in the second picture - the stars and bars are on the wrong wing. A very small oops in a fantastic rendition of an iconic aircraft.
  18. There’s a reason the MiG-23 wasn’t as feared as the MiG-21. The best iteration was the -27, principally a ground attack platform. Even with aerodynamic improvements - it only presented a moderate challenge in WVR. If it kept its speed up, then it could use ‘slashing attacks’ and stand a chance of not being disassembled rapidly, but once it starts to turn aggressively the speed comes off, and whilst turning - is very hard to regain. That’s where the -23 fell short. The MiG-23 (all flavours) is a ‘hit and run’ fighter, unless it catches something worse than itself. If the MiG gets caught before he can run and is made to turn, it’s only a matter of time. The MiG-21 was more of a threat, and yet it was supposed to be superseded BY the -23!.
  19. Pretty sure the fin flash is an Israeli one on this particular one.
  20. They were retired early - mid 90’s.
  21. Well, we ‘could’ get the good stuff from our American brethren - but since in extremis (U.S first) they may not have been forthcoming, it was those.
  22. Understood. FGR2 was (for a while) centreline only, single round (B-43 or B-57).
  23. Top drawer work. As a whole - a credit to you all.
