  1. Nice. A long time resident at Edwards. Was used in the ALCM chase role, and wore an interesting hybrid scheme of S.E.A cam with white upper wing surfaces (to stand out against terrain whilst chasing missiles). Has at various times swapped between the original cannon blast shroud and the Midas 4 mod, and back again. Great pics.
  2. Very true. Then, as is still now, missiles can be decoyed which - if both aircrew have any moxie in them - will grind the fight down to guns. Guns cannot be decoyed. The F-4, could hold its own rather well, even against newer platforms. You use the best traits that the airframe has, and use them well. Drive the fight and make the opponent fight out of his comfort zone, and in yours. DONT be a gentleman - fight dirty. When it comes down to guns, that’s fine. MiG, SU, Mirage, quite a few western types, have all been surprised by a Phantom driver with fangs out.
  3. But it’s always best to use the Condom mentality - it’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
  4. You don’t always get a condensation ‘flash’ when passing Mach, it’s very dependant on the right set of atmospheric conditions being present. And the water disturbance created at low level - may look impressive, but all you are doing is shouting at the enemy “AIM HERE!”.
  5. Only just noticed this whilst messing around in the editor. The drop down - showing sun/moon angle and phase at any time is both intuitive, easy and very useful. Kudos ED, nicely done.

  6. Out of curiosity, why would you need to do this?
  7. There should be a yellow and black ring you can pull . . . Joking aside, if the pilot for whatever reason doesn’t get a visual pick up, then yes a shout of “where” may be of use, just not repeated calls of where it is when other calls may be of more importance.
  8. Not at all, no real negative impact. In RL there ‘can’ be an issue if you leave heat on whilst on the pan not going anywhere, can be hazardous for ground personnel as they get extremely hot. Even quite warm temps at ground level can have icing conditions aloft, so you don’t have to wait for near zero before considering pitot heat.
  9. Generally, post merge, I would prefer speed and height (if descending) call-outs over clock positions as - tbh - the pilot should be eyes on anyway. I’d much rather he tell me things I can’t see without taking eyes off - like speed, altitude, trends.
  10. There has been a few changes to parking etc, including the extended apron just north of your screenshot, but not to the Nellis in sim. I asked about it around a year ago - maybe more - but the NTTR map is done. There wont be any revisions or additions.
  11. Think it’s referencing the elevator offsetting a slightly forward CofG by going elevator leading edge down, and vice versa for a slightly aft CofG. Only would be effective in forward flight however. At minimal speeds or at the hover, then you would just push or pull to maintain a hover.
  12. You are being very, very specific here with regards to exact type, which is completely at odds to your first post - “I do not need it to be too fancy -- only the JA-37 look and the FM would be great enough”. With that in mind, why not just get the Viggen? Then you have a flight model that is researched to be Viggen like, and it looks like a Viggen, and a 4” difference in length of the airframe (about 0.006%) isn’t really going to be noticeable on any monitor, is it? Since “it doesn’t have to be too fancy” then you can look past the radar being different, and gauge locations changing.

  14. Used to constantly rib a Jag mate of mine that his aircraft was the only one in the inventory that required the curvature of the earth to help it get airborne! But, all things considered, it was a potent attack aircraft. Quick at low level, and with an impressive roll-rate.
  15. You mentioning “tropical settings” made me remember something, I may be thinking of something else - but I’m at least 80%sure it’s to do with the Falcons. I seem to remember hearing something about the electronic potting compounds used in the components being very susceptible to the warm and moist conditions, resulting in failures. Again - I may be thinking of something else, but I’m pretty certain it’s to do with the AIM-4.
  16. Being a contra twin whisk the -50 will behave differently to a conventional heli layout. Love the ‘sigh’
  17. Some great things here.
  18. Excellent work Sir. Enriches the land.
  19. More than likely - don’t know which heli you are using, but if armed there’s a chance that unarmed may show less rearward pull is needed.
  20. To counteract the tendency of the tail rotor to push the aircraft sideways, "Translating tendency". And the direction can be dependent on type.
  21. Came in a little hot there boss!
  22. @prccowboy The P-8 sure looks good sub-hunting! Completely forgot the screenies , but had it hunting a large area - it found a submersed sub relatively quickly, and after 3 torpedos dropped, the 4th was on a bearing that intercepted and struck - causing the Kilo to surface. Then the P-8 finished with 2 Harpoons to the surfaced target. Really worthy addon.
  23. The courts restraining order is still in force . . .
  24. I kid you not - word for word I had typed that and was just about to post, then yours flashed up!
