  1. Just flew a MP flight around Dubai, we started about 40mins before sun down and WOW! The whole lighting effect was amazing to say the least! The way the light and reflection changed seemingly every moment was really impressive  In the Reverb is was just jaw dropping, a little less fps than I'm used too but I'm sure that will be ironed out and it came right around sundown. Overall a fantastic job ED!
  2. Hmmm, don't use the cows just yet, especially on airfields! No texture for them either...
  3. Cows! Best news ever! ...Im going to put them everywhere :D
  4. Yes that works well. Any aircraft I have spawn in on my missions I make sure there is a copy of the aircraft with the same skin and loadout set too Ramp start with the 'Uncontrolled' box checked. Spawn in stutters are non existent after that.
  5. There are some images of airports on the ground textures in South East Oman and Qatar (a really huge one with a TACAN) so hopefully in time they will render these as functional airports. Unless your flying off a carrier the North Western part of Iran can be difficult to really utilise (in somewhat 'realistic' scenarios) which is a shame because there are some really interesting features and terrains to explore there. Just one airbase in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or the afore mentioned base in Qatar would open up the map to so much more use.
  6. Here's my 2c. I think F4 Phantom for the following reasons. First, is there another aircraft that could be as popular, to the point of bringing in lots of new people from outside the DCS pool we have now? I don't think so. When was the last F4 simulator done? Chuck Yeager's Air Combat in 1991? The Apache would be awesome for sure and I hope they do it soon, I just don't think it would have the massive broad appeal the F4 Phantom would overall. So many options within the DCS World we have now let alone a SE Asia map or various others if we ever see them. It just makes good business sense from my POV.
  7. Hi Kestrel, absolutely man jump on in, we will need all the help we can get tonight! Pretty much all our missions are coop and we have a great group with some really good banter. We have seen a huge boost from guys in CHCH over the last couple of weeks which is great! If you jump on early enough we might be able to get you hooked up with our Hornet skins, looks way cooler if everyone can see them. We will be on from about 19:50 tonight. See you in Discord, oh, better update the invite as well. Discord channel: https://discord.gg/9ckAbW
  8. Hi guys, I hope someone can point me to the right place to change some text on screen when you drop off troops. the scenario is we are picking up survivors from a disabled and on fire destroyer in the gulf, having the ship as the pick up point then drop them back at the FARP. So using obviously Mist, CTLD, sctv2 then Medevac_SAR scripts. the mission works fine and I have been able to change the names of the groups that we pick up from 'Standard group' etc.. to 'ship crew' etc.. but I want to change the text when we drop them back at the FARP from 'Woody01 dropped troops into combat' to something along the lines of 'Woody01 dropped survivors to awaiting media' or whatever, the trouble Im having is I cant for the life of me find where to change that particular piece of text in the script (assuming it should be changed in the CTLD script?). I hope someone can help me out with this, thanks.
  9. The low latency setting for me didn't change fps or clarity it stopped the super annoying degenerating frames from fine at the start to choppy to unplayable (DCS is waiting or whatever it said) It was really bad before and never again after switching this setting to ultra. The USB hub took draining power from my PC to draining from the wall socket and this smoothed out the whole experience amazingly well. I know practically nothing about software and hardware setups but I know I now have a Reverb that is astonishingly good in DCS. For me its been incremental steps from looks awesome with some issues, adjust a setting and either wow! or back to where I was (the motionvector settings in the steam file reprojection thingy made it heaps worse for me), I have by accident stumbled upon a series of settings that make the Reverb run exceptionally well in my case with my hardware and software settings quite by accident and certainly not by superior knowledge on the subject. But damn its good to be me! :D
  10. Go to 'Manage 3D settings' and look for 'Low latency mode'. It might not be on all NVidia cards or you may need to update the drivers, I don't know sorry, mine is a Gigabyte 2080 Super.
  11. I thought I had my Reverb running really well, and it was, but I brought a powered USB hub and its now running absolutely flawlessly. So smooth, no ghosting, really really happy with it. So in my journey to getting this Reverb running well the biggest performance gains have been - running in full screen, selecting 'Low latency mode' to ultra on the Nvidia control panel (biggest result) and running through a powered USB hub. Your mileage may very but damn its nice to be able to spot your refueling tanker at 30 miles!
  12. Yes excellent value for money, thanks ED cant wait for this one! :D
  13. No worries ignition22, hit us up when you get back. If you enjoy DCS in single player then Multiplayer (especially with a good group) will be awesome for you! Jump on the Discord channel when your back and we'll take it from there. Thanks for posting up!
  14. Hey Dave, no worries man, we can even help you with your controller issues Im sure. They can be a bit of a nightmare to get setup initially but once they are set your good to go. There are heaps of guys with a ton of knowledge so between us I am sure we can get you sorted. Our main nights are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday but once you jump on the Discord channel that will open up our community in real time to you, lots of banter and ribbing, sharing of cool stuff and weekly updates as to what we are up too. You will find the discord channel here: https://discord.gg/NH7dvQ If you don't have Discord you will find the download here: https://discordapp.com/download Hope to see you soon, Thursdays we normally do a bit of practice from Case 1 Carrier landings to formation and tactical formation to weapons training etc... So that could be a good time to dip your toes into the TFK environment.
  15. Back into it for the new year, we never stop over the holidays but its a good chance to take it easy, for the regulars to go on holiday and a good chance to test out new map concepts and techniques and for some reason the holiday period always brings out new people and brings back some friends of old which is great! It looks like 2020 will be a massive year for TFK, so if your in Australasia and looking for something a little more personally rewarding than what I find most of the public servers can give me, although you will still find me on various servers from time to time its nowhere near as rewarding as flying with a bunch of mates in new and different missions and you quickly become a 'mate' but jumping in and doing your bit in the mission. You don't need to be an exceptional DCS pilot, we have plenty of talented guys that can help get you up to speed in most areas of most modules, but if you are a shit hot DCS pilot you will I am sure find flying with TFK refreshing to say the least. We have great banter, a great comradery and we get the job done, generally, often in very challenging circumstances. So don't be shy, if your green as or hot as hot shit you will be able to find a place where you fit with us. Unless your a dick, but it has always been a self moderating group so its all good. Our main nights are Tuesday (Choppa Tuesday, with dedicated fixed wing support, but they are primarily choppa missions at heart), Thursday is our general training night, we normally start off with Banklers Case 1 recovery trainer (modified for our down under needs) Thanks Bankler! And Lex! and Sunday is our 'war faces on' mission night. Always a new mission and it could be on any DCS map, WW2 asset pack included. We are trying to fit a dedicated warbird night into our schedule and I will let you know when we have some progress on that, Warbird Wednesday is penciled in but not locked in yet. We may look at a first Wednesday in every month sort of deal, WIP. So come and have a fly with us if you like, if your a decent sort of fella with a good sense of humour you will fit right in no matter your skill level green or white hot. FA18. F16, AV8BN/A, F14, Mirage, F5E, UH-1H, JF17, A10C, CA accommodated for in all main missions, others at request or that I have forgotten. 2020, woohoooo! :D
  16. Cheers guys I really do appreciate your help and information. I'll look into it over the next few days but I am so happy with what I have now. I did go through the whole Thuds setup before I got the reverb just so I was on the right foot to start with and it has been a pretty seamless process since then, its getting the final little things checked off that will make all the world of difference is where I'm at now. My biggest hurdle is the terminology and understanding what it means and where it is applicable, but slowly getting there and if I try one thing at a time I am getting incremental improvements at each stage. Super happy with where I am at with my Reverb now that's for sure.
  17. Thanks for pointing me to the file in question oz555, I had a look and I think I see what you mean, as for assuming I have enabled reproduction I didn't even know all that existed or even what it means to be honest. but a good test tonight hosting with just the low latency mode turned to ultra has made an incredible difference and one I was able to pass on to a squad mate. I will try the motion vector but have to admit I am getting uncomfortably out of my comfort zone here in understanding what I am doing. Might have to be a case of if it aint broke don't fix it going forward. The low latency mode to ultra made such a huge difference for me and overall I was happy with it before this except for the ghosting and dropping out/double screen shot flickering/'waiting for DCS' crap that was happening, now, none of that at all! Thanks dude!

    Harpoon

Just finished up our (The Flying Kiwis) Thursday training night and tonight we did a bit of training with the Harpoon. Coordinated team work certainly paid off for us tonight, we went against 3 Russian frigates and destroyers (set to weapons free and hot) and with two sections attacking from two different angles and slightly different timings we were able to sink two in the first sortie and clean up the last one on the second sortie with not much fuss. A few missiles were intercepted but the majority got through, I think everyone had their missiles set to fly low and skim, the different angles and timings worked really well. We all headed for terrain masking after launch and everyone made it home. So from my perspective, a very effective anti ship missile, but maybe the trick is using it as a team with a bit of planning. We had 5 aircraft in the attack tonight.
  19. Thanks for this! While I couldn't find the 'motionvector' in any settings, I did change the 'low latency mode' to 'Ultra' from 'Off' and what a huge difference! Super smooth now and much higher fps. Amazing how much difference just one setting can make when you don't really know the in's and out's of what your doing.
  20. I love it! The only trouble I'm having is the increased probability of flying into the ground because I keep looking at it! :D Pretty bloody good for WIP IMHO.
  21. Ahhhh the evolution of settings, I haven't tried this registry fix but I did switch to full screen in settings tonight to see what it would do, don't know why it wasn't but prolly down to a lack of understanding of what should be what. Running the Reverb and tonight's choppa mission (that was quite a heavy mission) ran absolutely flawless! Smoothest I have ever seen, locked at 45fps the whole time hosting with around 12 people connected, so for me maybe not the registry edit but still this thread has helped me out a lot!
  22. So many hours of use down now and I am very happy with the Reverb, for me it was a great choice. Funny story. I was flying along on one of our squad nights and all was going well, then I started to have some bad tracking issues, gradually getting worse. When it became unplayable I took the headset off to discover while I was deeply immersed in the VR world of DCS it had turned to night and I forgot to put the lights on in my room! :megalol: Pro tip: Inside out tracking doesn't work very well in the dark. :D Mine is one of the new batch of units, VR1000.
  23. Choppa Tuesday tonight if anyone in the Australasian region is keen on a bit of whirly bird action! A very cool mission inserting troops into a beachhead to support invading MEU amphibious APC's then taking over the airfield nearby. Action packed with both choppas and fixed wing CAS support. We are trialing running a super sick server out of a Sydney data center atm so if you search by ping it may have moved either up or down in the list depending on what side of the ditch you are on. Discord details in the mission briefing so if you want to jump on the server do try to join us on comms at least so you can hear what going down at that time. Server up from 20:00NZT.
  24. Super excited for this, not into Motley crew at all but in this case it was done so right, well done! Awesome trailer! Take my bloody money please! I am looking forward to this module more than any other from ED yet (except maybe the Hornet, but hand in hand right?). Cant wait!!! :D
  25. Damn, first thing I did when I got home was boot up the Hornet to see the new cockpit and in the Reverb I cant see any difference :( Updated the open beta this morning, oh well I was happy with it anyway...
