  1. Since the last update I am able to get at least 8 FA18's on the deck set to Ramp start (Haven't tried any more than 8 yet) and another 4 on Runway spawning on each catapult, its great as before we had to use two Carriers but now it seems to work fine. Lots of static A/C, helos and cargo etc as well, no doubt if we get all 8 client A/C spawning in there may be some positions overlapping with Static's but so far so good. Spawn in points like on the airfields would be handy.
  2. Nice one guys, thanks for giving it a go Mover  I see where your coming from not liking trackIR, I have been simming for 27 years and only just got trackIR about a month ago, didn't like it at first but after using it for a few weeks I couldn't fly without it now. It can take time to get used too but once you do its excellent. Looking forward to part two!
  3. Thanks for your response mate, makes sense of course. Its just when your in a knife fight in a phone booth you have to make decisions quickly, I guess I just made the wrong one. Thanks for your reply, I have learnt from it.
  4. Hi guys, I know IFF is not properly implemented atm, but as far as I understand its simplified and if you have a radar lock and it is a box its friendly if it is a diamond it is hostile. We just flew a night intercept mission where we had to locate a stolen Georgian airliner full of escaped dirty insurgents escorted by two Mig21's heading to Dirkadirkastan. There were 4 FA18's in our flight and once we merged with the Mig21's it was all on for young and old. Trouble is I had a solid lock close with a diamond, I held it for maybe 20 seconds trying to get my SA (totally black, like flying in ink) but it was showing hostile lock the whole time, "Fox 2!" still diamond until moments before splash then it turns to a square! and yes it was my wingman! Splash... Not good for squadron cohesiveness... Can anyone explain beyond 'Its borked' how I could have known it was my wingman? I know communication etc... But atm I am at a loss and loosing confidence in the FA18 in a fur ball because the information displayed to me is incorrect. I know this has been an issue in previous patches but I was surprised to see it is still doing it. Anything you think I am missing? I shot a guy down in a public server a few months ago in the same fashion and I was mortified! Getting a bit sick of it...
  5. Guys we are operating in DCS at least three times a week now officially. We have training nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a full on mission on Sunday night. Running P51D, AV8-B, FA18C, Mirage, UH-1H and F5 Slots. We have moved to a non password server as we figure if your going to the trouble of getting yourself proficient in DCS your prolly not a dickhead. This isn't first person shooter easy... So keep your eye out for The Flying Kiwis server, especially if your in the Asia Pacific region, however we have had no problem with ping from anywhere. We have a refreshing outlook on flying as a team, solid maps with up to date briefings and maps that facilitate working as a team. We are on discord, our channel is https://discord.gg/Sq7vMuW We are not running SRS yet, so you will have to go old skoll. Hope to see you there. Woody01 out.
  6. Thanks man I will have a look!
  7. Ive been flying a few night ops lately and found the IFEI dimmer is not effecting the light output on this panel at all. The rest of the cockpit I can dim to night setting but you end up with a bright glowing IFEI panel, not too big a deal but it would be nice to have the whole cockpit at night brightness settings. I've attached a short track of a night start up on the carrier. server-20181106-113747.trk
  8. Funkyfranky thanks a lot that has really helped!
  9. Well 3WA I find the FA18 so far the most awesome flight sim experience yet for me in 27 years of being intensely interested in the genre, so I feel sorry for you missing out. This sort of minor detail on the whole scope of it is quite small and also considering it 'could' be something we are doing wrong. It would be just nice to know either way. Interestingly I haven't followed up on this because basically I learnt to refuel on a dime, so I am less interested in the tank switches and I carry less tanks and more ordinates. But it would be nice to know what to expect in this aspect of the FA18.
  10. Interesting this is still happening. One of those links above is to my thread about this. The first track file is somehow different from what happened but lower in the thread I posted a much shorter track file that shows this. I noticed it was happening when I pushed negative G. I hope this gets addressed.
  11. Nice job dude! I wouldn't use flaps at all, instead I would ask the mission builder to speed the tanker up. The KC130 is a dream to pull up next too when its flat out, I believe its 336 Kts (GS). It is the most fun thing I have done in the sim so far and if you can get really comfortable doing it the potential of the Hornet is then mostly limited to pilot fatigue.
  12. A bit of fun down under... ${1}
  13. This is not my experience. I flew a training mission on our TFK training map tonight with a couple of guys from my squad and CCIP worked flawlessly, its CCRP that needs clarification.
  14. Sydy thanks, I think the altitude is wrong, I cant set it any lower though. This will be one things that comes into play with any GBU's that are being implemented so we need to know the maths is right (and no, my maths is good but not that good) so I just hope its something I'm doing wrong and if it is please help me rectify my error, but I have tried CCRP in many different contexts and it is giving consistent results of 'long'. Scarrrface The Flying Kiwis standard munition is the Mk83 for most jobs at this iteration of the FA18, fantastic general demolition bomb, so most of our data is with this munition, that's the thing, it is a very reliable munition so it should marry up to the Hornets systems seamlessly, I am not seeing this, but again is it something I am doing? Or a maths problem that would give most of us a headache?
  15. So I got myself up to speed with refuelling with help from all the community's you tube videos and my good squad mate Yoda's close tutelage, I asked him to get me up to speed and he really did, and no he didn't even have to use 'the force', I just got it, so now I am training the rest of The Flying Kiwis to try and get us all up to speed. Tonight we actually ran a KC130 out of gas! We pecked away at it for several refuels and all of a sudden it flew off and was no longer available. That is a fist pumping "YES" if I have ever seen one! Just hoping to inspire the guys who are still trying to master this very stressful endeavour, once you really click with it it almost becomes a relief rather than a stress.
  16. Not sure if I'm not setting it up correctly or if its a bug. We have been using CCRP in Auto mode over the last couple of weeks and it does not seem to matter what altitude bomb release is at they always fall long by about 200ft. I realise this is not as accurate a bombing method as CCIP but it should be closer than what we are seeing. The waypoint is as low as it will allow it to be set in mission editor (normally around 19ft on the islands in the gulf), bomb release is good, all lined up and in level flight and have tried from 4000- 10000ft and every time they drop long. Am I not setting something correctly or is there a problem with the calculations?
  17. Yes both my Cougars have died this way, I just cant get them to calibrate, even tho one day they will, perfectly, then never again... One is with stock pots and one is with Hall sensors, anyone wants to buy them... I just opted for a Warthog in the end, maybe that was the point... Damn corporates!
  18. Not wanting to flame at all but I have as I said used Thrustmaster gear since day one and the Warthog for me is a cumulation of all it. Other brands are probably at least as good, I don't have any data points on it, haven't used any of it, but Thrustmaster I have, right through the ages and it has for me been beyond excellent. But this isn't about that, its about the fact that, refuelling, yes you can do it.
  19. Holy shit! break through time for me. I have been flying combat flight sims from the age of 16 on my mums Pentium 486, EF2000 was the first I tried air to air refuelling, could never get it, TAW and F22 next and never could and did try, but back then there was no youtube or social media, there was only trying, Falcon 4 was next and wow I spent some time in that sim, but could never actually pull off air to air refuelling. I am tonight after 27 years of trying confident enough to say I have cracked it, I can now refuel as needed, it is one of the most satisfying things I have ever achieved. Thanks to all the community's videos on the tube, I couldn't have realised where I was going wrong with out them, also I have run high end Thrustmaster gear from day one (Starting with the WCSMk2 and FCS on up through all models) I don't know if I could do it without the Thrustmaster Warthog, I have been battling Windows 10 issues and calibration issues with my 15 year old Cougar and a newer Cougar with the NTX (?) mods? and it was such a hassle I just went for the Warthog, its nice, I wouldn't want to be without it. So keep that story in mind guys to maybe keep it in context, its not an easy task until you get it, like algebra, or chess, or motor cross. But I am pretty happy with myself! If I can do it you can!
  20. Sorry guys that is a really long track file, I have just reproduced it in a much shorter track file. server-20180909-110803.trk
  21. Sorry, I have the track file saved to desktop but I'm not sure how to post it here. I tried but no joy, attachment 101 anyone? Haha! what a n00b, it was attached all along! server-20180908-214139.trk
  22. I just tried to fly a long range strike on the Crimea map at Nap of the Earth and on the first run after I went inverted so I could pull low after cresting a ridge line all of a sudden both wing tanks emptied to zero. I thought this odd but didn't then have the fuel to complete the mission, never fear a tanker is near... I took fuel but realised when I looked out and saw the Carrier Air Group underneath us that because I used my centreline tank first then jettisoned it I didn't have the fuel I needed despite the tanker, the wing tanks refuelled ok but I decided to abort the refuel, land and rearm, managed a nice Case 1 recovery, refuelled and set off again. When I got to the same ridgeline I bunted instead of going inverted and again the fuel in the wing tanks drain almost instantly to zero. WTF? I'm just not sure if its something I am doing wrong (I am switching my centre tank first to override to drain it first then punch it, then switching to override on the wing tanks, then punch them) or if its a bug. I'm watching my fuel page on my DDI's as I have the radar off for a 'quieter' approach. Any ideas guys? Hornet 'feature', bug or dumb ass pilot?
  23. I don't very the start time, I will do some testing tonight and let you know what I find. But it has worked as 8 x client Lot 20 FA18's on the Stennis.
  24. It could be the order of placement, I was having trouble with this in the last few updates but now if I add 4 as ramp start first, then I added 4 as runway start and all 8 aircraft work ok. 4 on the ramp and 4 on the cat. Now I'm not sure if its anything to do with the update but before I think I was adding the runway starts first and then it had no room for the ramp starting aircraft.
  25. Our squadron is in this boat for sure, 80% are ED and one or two stuck on steam, if they could move their modules over they would but at this stage they are too heavily invested in steam to re buy all the modules that are not compatible.
