  1. That's above my pay grade dude! :D But I will be interested in your results. We had a good session tonight and aircraft were spawning in in all sorts of spots on the deck, it was quite busy but only one incident to report, Hornets and Tomcats all mixed together, the only incident was where a Tomcat spawned in next to a Hornet next to the tower (forward of) and the wing overlap on the Tomcat was hitting the Hornet resulting in the Tomcat loosing a wing (the Hornets wings were folded up). Apart from that we were spawning in all over the shop and it all went great. One issue I personally had was my particular aircraft if it spawned in on the Port side it would not launch me off a Cat, any Cat, on the Starboard side it worked fine? Weird.
  2. Sure thing Bankler, though I am not sure you will see anything and I'm not sure how it would work spawning 12 people in at once! But let us know how it goes, the most we have is 6-8 spawning at one time for the most part. Most important thing is that no one spawns in before the mission is un paused and as Jay said get those who have spawned in to park in the landing area once started up. But this mission has I think 12 Hornets at Ramp start and 2 Tomcats on Cat's 3 & 4. It might just take a bit of communication and coordination to get everyone in safely. Good luck, hope it helps :) Bandar_Abbas_Airfield_Denial_1_3.miz
  3. Our group doesn't actually have much trouble with that sort of thing anymore, not sure what we are doing different? Only thing I make sure of is that the mission is un paused before anyone spawns in, then it all seems to go ok, if anyone has spawned in before it is un paused they will explode for sure. We can get 12-16 aircraft per carrier in ramp start with 4 on runway start in the mission editor, we generally have 4-8 guys starting on the carrier at once.
  4. Wow, this is going to be AWESOME!
  5. Somehow after trying the above fixes it would not fix the textures being missing. Then randomly after a few more flights it was fixed! Don't know how or why but its all good now.
  6. The wings are not painted, its a matt finish to the metal, on the fuselage its a shiny finish. At least on the Mustang I went for a fly in it was. I spent a bit of time cleaning it before we went up in it and that is the case (NZ2415).
  7. Tried that and no joy :(
  8. I have certainly noticed an improvement in the Mav-F's, cant quite get them to lock at distance but closer in they are working a lot better for me and ship mode is working ok.
  9. Nice one Mover and Gonky! Great to see you give it another go and with VR, I tried VR for the first time recently and I was just amazed! I hope we see more of you guys in DCS.
  10. Yes I had the Mustang completely borked but the Hornet was fine? One would think with how angry this makes people you would go out of your way to avoid it happening, in saying that I have no idea how to build a flight simulator of this complexity so I don't know what's involved, I just know how frustrating it is to have to re go through all your bindings, then help your squad mates out resetting their stuff up, then doing it again because you missed something when we just want to be flying.
  11. I don't run any mods and I have had a few problems with this update. Mustang textures missing, controls totally borked for the Mustang, even reversed some axis (after I tried a repair). I'm getting a flickering black screen every now and then and crackling sound. GBU's in CCRP mode not working though they do hit in CCIP but what's the point? Mav F's are working a little better though. Hope there is a hot fix!
  12. So in the CMD thing I would first do 'DCS_Updater.exe clean' then after that has completed do 'DCS_Updater.exe repair'? I appreciate the help guys.
  13. Thanks for the help guys, I have followed both methods above and both times it went through a repair cycle, I did the windows start Eagle dynamics repair method first and that seemed to make it worse, now the mirror is gone altogether and the struts behind the seat are missing and my key bindings were all borked. then I tried the second CMD method and it went through a repair process, but still have missing textures, mirror and strut still missing but key bindings are back to normal. WTF??? Also the FA18 has the bomb fall line missing with GBUs, cant drop in CCRP.
  14. I have the same problem but removing those two folders didn't help. I would like to try the repair but cant find detailed enough instructions as to how to do this. Either the instructions are too vague (what folder? the saved games or the C: eagle dynamics?) or my operating system is different to the youtube video, frustrating much... Would anyone be so kind as to walk me through it as if Eagle dynamics and windows are not my first language?
  15. I tried VR for the first time today and I am blown away, if I owned one I would convert to it completely I think. The depth perception and spatial awareness was what really got me, how in a dogfight I needed speed so dropped the nose at about 2000ft and those power pylons looked awfully close and it gave me a real sense of 'Not too low!!!' The 3D cockpit was amazing, yea the resolution could improve but the other benefits far outweighed that. I had no problem in a dogfight with the resolution and having been in a real P51D the feeling was uncannily identical to that flight, the sense of speed, the physical strain of having to look behind you, felt like the most natural thing I have ever done. Colour me impressed!
  16. So the KC-135BDA is bugged. Thanks for clarifying that, I have been meaning to ask about that. When I try to connect to that one as soon as I connect the boom flicks away no matter how stable I am. Thanks, I was wondering.
  17. Once it clicks for you it opens up the capability of the Hornet (and any other aircraft I suppose) enormously. I couldn't do it for many years but once I learnt and understood the fundamentals it clicked for me and it is now one of the most fun, rewarding and easy things in the sim for me. We will often refuel several times in one mission and there's nothing cooler than having your squad all lining up for fuel then lining up after taking fuel off the tankers wing. Stick at it and as a few have mentioned don't look at the basket, line up the refuelling tank on the wing with the top of the HUD and walk it in smoothly. Once connected just use small throttle inputs to stay lined up with the refueler, forward on the throttle then bring it back a touch, constantly adjusting in small increments. I am using a stock standard TM Warthog and I find it excellent. Good luck!
  18. Awesome video mover! Thanks for sharing and explaining your thoughts and feelings on this flight. You sure have achieved a lot in your time so far, very impressive and you are someone to aspire too.
  19. +1 here as well, rounds always go way high, higher than the top of the recital. One stop gap solution is using air to air gun mode. You get a small cross further up the HUD and this is accurate when strafing ground targets. ED's silence on this is deafening.
  20. I have only just gotten trackIR after 27 years of using the hat switch, its amazing how good you can get with a hat switch if that's all you know. But I was finding it annoying when doing case 1 recovery's trying to look at a heap of different things quickly. It took me a while to get used to trackIR but now I am quite happy with it. Just think how good VR will be in 27 years when I'm ready to upgrade again :smilewink:
  21. In a twist the other way 'what does a sim pilot think of the real thing'. I was fortunate enough to go for a fly in a P51D 30NA about 9 years ago. At the time I was heavily involved in IL2 1946. In that sim my favourite plane was the P51D 30NA, so I thought it would be a very interesting incite into how accurate the sim was and how natural it all felt, and bear in mind this is IL2 1946! Not DCS by a huge stretch (a very good air combat simulator though IMHO). What I found was it was the most natural thing I had ever done. Everything was so familiar and all the numbers, settings and dials were exactly what I was expecting, I thought it was bang on to IL2 but just much better graphics, sound and feel. We were pulling up to 5.5G in the BFM part of the flight and it was not scary, not hard (though felt amazing!) and it all just felt like I was born to do it. Now no I did not fly it, but I didn't need to, its very intimate in the back of a P51, I could see all the dials and inputs and it all just matched what I was used to in the sim and what I was expecting for the most part. The only thing that caught me out was I wanted to see how easy it was to check our '6' under high G, it was easier than I thought it would be but what I didn't realise was I had given myself a horrendous neck sprain! It felt like I had been hit with a sledge hammer on the side of my neck about 20 mins after the flight and it honestly bothered me for years. I would not have wanted to take that aircraft for a solo though (NZ2415), far to precious and I am not a pilot, but it showed me that if I was in my 20's and found myself in WW2 with a Mustang I had to go fly I honestly think yes I could have stepped up to the challenge. A far cry from an FA18 though but an interesting data point. And look, both Weta43 and I are from New Zealand, must be something in the water...
  22. I am so sorry to read this Gregory! I was thrilled to find your channel. I am glad I watched your videos when I could. Most people here are really proud of guys like yourself, your service means a lot to all of us (ass clowns aside), even if we are not from the same country, we share the same values. If you ever want to come flying in DCS with us there are some really good groups here that would nothing but welcome you and your expertise. If not please know that 99.9% of us would love to pick your brain at least on the forums and would very much welcome your thoughts. Though with the behaviour we have seen in some recent threads (and now on your channel) I wouldn't be surprised if you ran a mile. Such a shame. Thank you any way.
  23. I enjoyed that and learnt quite a bit as well, little things that make you go 'Ahh is that what that means/ how that works'. Thanks Bananimal for offering your (very cool) setup for Mover to try and thanks Mover, you are inspiring sir! Good stuff!
  24. A one shot refuel after an unwanted dogfight with a Mig29A left me desperately low on fuel...
  25. I saw this for the first time today. It happened as I had gone full throttle then "Shit! trim!" I was looking down to the left when it shot me off the deck and I blacked out for a couple of seconds. I wouldn't be surprised if you were not fully back in the seat with your head hard against the seat that this could happen, every cat shot I have seen the pilot is braced for it, not looking down leaning forward fiddling with settings that should have been already set. Interesting... Wind was not a factor, it was only coming in over the deck at a 27kts head wind.
