  1. Sure, but having to judge in your head velocity by aspect and change in the range scale over time (usual in a scale of 25/50/100 km depending on range at BVR distance) is a poor replacement for actually knowing velocity, especially in BVR when a target speed will have a very large impact on the threat of their missiles. We will have to use Lazur or GCI/AWACs to truly know if the target is matching us in speed or significantly deviating One thing the Su-27 HUD also does better. Along with velocity in 5 kmh increments. Right HUD border, elevation carat on HUD, notch marker, IRST dish displacement marker, more Lazur/Beryuza commands, etc
  2. Polish Raduga 9K113 manual. Honestly surprised ED knew unless it was a past service member that told them. I only came upon this Polish document by the luck and grace of another enthusiast who had physical access to the Krakow museum and knew of my interest
  3. It is called “SP” or “Free Search” mode. Operates like any other mode but instead of range shows velocity. Soviet pilots weren’t fans. However, I am starting to feel differently after realizing that MiG-29 9.12/9.13 HUD does not show target velocity (or likely height) when locked in STT………. Very sad
  4. I have the same book. Yes, he mentions only really using rockets and guns. The only use case I can imagine that they are useful is anti infantry at close range against troops that might not even shoot back. For example, it has even less explosive in it in DCS then your 30mm HE bullets! Which can be aimed up to 3.5 km away!
  5. IMO, there is only a few things they could add without needing to basically make a new module. And this would only be possible by giving up the restriction of it being a domestic version SPO-15 S-8/5/13 variants UPK-23-250 Cyprus version with short wings and fixed gear NS 430 in place of map Window PKT/AK
  6. There is good reason crews in Afghanistan “took them only under threat of punishment.” Im sure they tried employing them by all the ways the table give, and realized they were dead weight. I find their ballistics only becomes horizontal enough to be remotely predictable at about 1 km. Which is usually death close. There are tables for horizontal, dive, and even loft attack. I wouldn’t be surprised if most have been cannibalized for air to ground use, where the AGS-30 Palmyra grenade launcher actually becomes useful. I have seen only one good use case for them, a calendar. It sounds like to me you have done all the dialing in and proper use physically capable with such a useless weapon
  7. Glad to hear! Any other questions let me know!
  8. Another one. Thank you to everyone who helped me collect info and inspire me to test further and discover so much about the Mi-24P systems. If you want to aim better with rockets and guns with the Mi-24P, this video is for you!
  9. 0.07 degree/s is the limit. Its computer and actuators just can’t stabilize and do such small movements while slewing at the same time. Becuase of this is one reason that you see IRL Mi-24 often only target vehicles while flying straight at them. This way the operator doesn’t need to constantly slew on target as the perspective changes since it’s not ground stabilized. The Mi-35M and its FLIR/TV turret doesn’t completely solve this either, just halves it at 0.035 degree/s.
  10. Yes. How can an IR/UV camera know that the missile plume it sees is from a missile guiding towards you?
  11. Yes it would be great. I’m not aware of any other modifications that would need to be paired with it. Afrer FF MiG-29 is released with new physical based SPO-15 model, I believe we would have good ground to stand on for an update of Mi-24 with it and checkbox allowing SPO-10 or SPO-15 in ME. We do have the practically last model of Mi-24P produced. I do wonder if the Russian Mi-24P with L-006/SPO-15 are a batch of export models that were never delivered and instead used for domestic service.
  12. Is any controlled post stall a cobra them? I was always under the belief that what makes Cobra unique, is that is achieved 90 degrees or more of AOA. A MiG-21 will never do that unless it’s some sort of sub 100 kmh tail slide
  13. I have achieved 120 km in DCS flying 15-17 km at Mach 2+ against MiG-31 going Mach 2+ at co altitude. However, DLZ shows this is more limited by radar range against the 10m squared EPR of MiG-31. Perhaps I will try and test against Tu-160 Я достиг 120 км в DCS, пролетев 15-17 км на скорости 2 Маха против МиГ-31, летящего на скорости 2 Маха на высоте 2. Однако DLZ показывает, что это больше ограничено дальностью действия радара против 10 м в квадрате ЭПР МиГ-31. Возможно, я попробую и протестирую против Ту-160
  14. What, are you thinking 29K/M would get R-77-1 or something?
  15. The autopilot works by using trim. So if you reset it the autopilot will just move it again
  16. It is fog. You have to use launch permission override and guess when seeker has lock
  17. Here is what I have found is the faster way to start up your Hind with or without the Doppler map working. Warning, do not use an actual Mi-24
  18. Well you’re also limited that by while Su-27 hits best sustained rate at 1000 kmh. The Mach 0.85 G limit means you can’t achieve it above around 925-935 kmh TAS. If
  19. One thing though, flow separation (I.e stall) only occurs really at 40-50 degrees AOA, and AOA gauge only goes up to 30, which is still helpful as above 25-30 degree AOA is when you lose almost all lateral and directional control. For landing, I would consider about 15 degrees my limit, as the tail will not the runway at 16 degrees AOA As far as endurance and best range speeds go, for MiG-29 this is 4-7 degrees AOA. I would expect perhaps 2 degrees lower for Su-27
  20. Better to post the mission. Are you setting AI to fire at max range?
  21. I replied to you on Reddit. For everyone else here I will quote myself ”That’s because what you need is the flight manual. Minimum control speed- 200 kmh VNE- 1400 kmh IAS, Mach 2.35 VY- depends on profile: for MIL climb this is 870-900 kmh TAS. For AB climb this is Mach 0.9. Above 12 km you usually need to climb at Mach 1.65+ or 1250 kmh TAS when going for max cieling or speed VX- this depends on altitude and climb profile. There is no one VX angle. I often find 10 degrees with MiL power works for me until you get high. You can work it out manually by following the speed recommendations for climb profile VFE- 600 kmh IAS VR- maximum ground speed of front wheel, 320 kmh, main wheels is 360 kmh VLE- 500 kmh There isn’t much else. Best turning speed is 850-1000 kmh, though most people use 800-900 kmh for lower G and better radius.”
  22. In real life no, you are limited to what is set on the ground.
  23. “The ADI is weird and not roll stabilized, but moves as you roll the aircraft. Along with the unconventional HUD, the roll of the silhouette compared to the earth of horizon was double the actual roll! I had to look at it imagining that I was flying behind the plane and radio controlling it” - paraphrase of First US pilot to fly the MiG-29 with Valery Menitsky
  24. Yea, during Su-27 development, test pilots said that having the brakes on the pedals was nice. So they ported it to Su-25
