  1. Yep Aim-120’s been doing 180’s for along time now. Due to a big problem with a bug that effects the SD-10 a quick solution from ED was to give the SD-10 the same API to the SD-10 but with some tweaks (longer burn motor and down graded counter measure resistance) due to them being so similar until ED can fix the root cause. So now the SD-10 shares the same benefits (doing 180’s) as the Aim-120 and also the disadvantages. Although the SD-10 falls like a meteor under 200knots. 120 strangely falls down but the seeker will keep turning and tracking so there is another value changed somewhere to make this difference, but it’s of no benefit either way.
  2. I never realised the tail drops down first until you pointed that out
  3. Awesome thanks. I don’t have rudder pedals just a stick and throttle which is why I found it strange. However I found the problem. I also have a controller connected to the computer that lives in a draw which is what was causing the grief. Yep massive face palm.
  4. That’s awesome. What’s the chances of Deka maybe adding this to the JF?
  5. I made a video but I can't make it small enough size to add it here. I'm not the greatest with that kind of stuff. But I have added 2 Screen captures. the captures show the control inputs, I don't know what the difference is between the green and red squares. But in the captures I have just click fly and then the JF does a little jolt like it hit a speed bump then it aircraft leans to one side and yaws to the right. there is no wind but the HUD shows like I'm in a strong cross wind. no matter what I do I can't get the aircraft to correct what is happening.
  6. So it must be related to height. I did some playing around with it and it seems I wasn't allowing much time between dropping them and the point they open. I've got them working now thanks for your help.
  7. I made a quick mission to test some weapons with the JF already in the air and I noticed as soon as I click FLY. The JF-17 does this strange wiggle at the start and then it fly's like one wing is heavier then the other but with a weird yaw also. I have tested with my controllers connected and disconnected, I also tried on different maps but it's not always the case. it seems to always happen at 30,000ft but not all the time if i start lower. only been happening sense last update. I never have this happen with any type of ground start. only air start. also take note of the HUD. It’s like there is a very strong cross wind. I don’t have wind on this map. JF-17 Strange behavior.trk
  8. I tested the MK-20's with the F-18 and they drop on target as planned. It's almost like the JF-17 is dropping the bombs too early so the submunitions stop before the SPI point. just a theory tho F-18 MK-20 test.trk
  9. As a guess I wouldn’t think so due to the fact the submunitions are falling very short but they are being dispensed in a way that I would expect with a good spread on the ground. I think this is more that the bombs are being released too early but that’s just me having a guess to be the issue.
  10. Yeah sure. Can't check today but I will have a go at it tomorrow. Unless someone else can do it before I can thanks
  11. I can't get the MK-20's to hit the target while in Auto/CCRP. I can dive and get the submunitions on target with CCIP but while in Auto they always fall short. Even if I drop 4x MK-20's with a interval of 200 or more they will always fall short. it's as if they are programmed so the last submunitions hits the SPI and not the First submunitions hitting the SPI then past it. I have attached a TRK showing all bomblets falling a very long distance short of the targets. I used a waypoint as my SPI for this example but it also happens no matter what I use to mark the SPI JF-17 MK20 Don't hit target.trk
  12. Just to add to your point the Aim-54 was also intended to intercept and destroy the missiles that the bombers might have launched at the carrier group. There is a video that it getting around of the Aim-54 intercepting and destroying a missile during a test.
  13. I can’t get the MK20’s to drop all the munitions onto the target area with CCRP/Auto. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I have tried with setting the SPI with the TGP or HUD but the submunitions always fall short for me. I am at 2000ft fly straight and level, I get all the release cues but they just always fall well short of the target as in none of them hit a single vehicle. It’s almost like it’s programmed so the submunitions don’t got past the SPI. I can get them to work with CCIP no problem not home to post a TRK so will do later EDIT: I accidently posted this in the wrong area. I have made a new post please delete this one. Thank you
  14. Within the mission editor you can place waypoints and also target points (not sure what it’s actually called within the mission editor) but they have to be named PP1, PP2, PP3, PP4 (PP=Pre planned) once you start the aircraft if in the air they will be loaded within waypoints 36(PP1) 37(PP2) 38(PP3) 39(PP4). If you are on the ground you can place markers on the F10 map and again they must be name PP1-PP4. This can also be done for waypoints you just have to name them WPT1-WPT29. Then you need to update the DTC within the ground crew comms menu then load the DTC and all the waypoints, RP’s and PP’s will be loaded. however you can drop any glide bomb on a SPI or even a waypoint. So if you just place a waypoint over the targets and you have that waypoint selected the glide bomb will go to that location. Just remember if you have set a SPI using a TGP, Radar or HUD diamond after selecting a waypoint that will now become the new location the bomb will go to.
  15. Nope I never said that’s the case. I said your same post in the F-18 forums had some good points on how things work from other people. Which I thought would have answered your question but it appears your not exactly happy about those responses. one thing I might add is and I’m not saying this is the exact answer. Remember the F-18 compared to say airforce train of thought e.g F-18 was designed from the ground up to work as a carrier aircraft, Not a independent platform. So we are getting a F-18 that is modelled around a aircraft that was designed to never ever be beyond the support of a carrier fleet and layer upon layers of support from other aircraft specifically designed to do a very specified role e.g EW/Jamming. So the F-18 we have in DCS that we push ED to model correctly compared to real world doesn’t always work out cause unless you are part of a fairly strict clan or server that forces all these layers of support then you will get a weird feature like turn off the radar to Jam. Cause in real world a F-18 pilot wouldn’t even have a radar on in a all out conflict until they are about to engage, so jamming for them is a last step of survival cause they are relying on a lot of other aircraft doing that for them. in DCS it doesn’t work like that so a feature like this doesn’t make sense but again we demand realism so that’s what ED deliver. Other nations that purchase these same aircraft don’t have the same amount of layers of support so they need a single aircraft to do more so we find out that a f-18 somewhere in world does in fact get added features from companies like Raytheon to fill the gaps by developing equipment like dedicated or more powerful Jammers that America doesn’t use cause they don’t consider that necessary as they already have dedicated aircraft to do that. In DCS we supposedly have a specific F-18 from a certain time in history from a specific military organisation that didn’t use every single thing a F-18 has ever used. also someone (not me) added the F-18C radar we have in DCS uses the radar to Jam which is why it chooses to do one or the other. I have no idea how true this is (I also doubt this to be fact) but it adds up if that is the case, as opposed to many other aircraft that have dedicated jammers that are carried on pylons that are completely stand alone to the radar. Now we can go on a massive debate how they still can’t cause of jamming their own radar but that’s a field that myself and many others have knowledge about cause we work in this field. But it is soooooo lock tight we have no idea what can be said or not.
  16. I have no idea of the answer to this but like someone raised earlier. Did the current DCS module of the F-18 ever get this equipment? keep in mind that real world aircraft are designed and developed for whatever tactics are how it fits within the whole realm of the team. Which is some what a problem within DCS. Cause although it may seem strange that a F-18 has to turn off radar for ECM but remember when they designed this feature in real world for what ever reason they were also thinking this aircraft is backed up by F-18 growlers to do the jamming for them and backed up by awacs so the F-18 doesn’t even turn in its radar until it’s time to engage. Hence why when other countries that don’t work on the same doctrine or have all the same levels of support they have to reach out and get equipment to fill in the gaps for the same aircraft. im not saying this is the answer but even tho it seems strange for DCS in the real world it makes sense because it was designed to work in a massive team environment. Which doesn’t really function in DCS. Would be epic if we do get some kind of AI support like that one day tho.
  17. @THE KING I saw your post on the F-18 forums that you copied into this one. You received some (what I though) to be fairly good responses explaining the difference between the 2 jammers. Someone also explained that the F-16 won’t work like the F-18’s but more like the JF, I recall another person going through the numbers and explaining how this new process add to the F-18 doesn’t really make much difference either.
  18. am I right in saying the issue is that if someone that is being fired upon by a Aim-120 that if they continually turn the ECM on and off that the missile will always miss? If this is the case then once the missile is within 10-20nm (burn through) then wouldn’t this tactics have no effect? So only affecting long range shots? So if fired in TWS the defending pilot wouldn’t know they are under attack unless they suspect it. Once they get warning on the RWR this tactic still wouldn’t work due to burn through also? not questioning anything here. Just clearing in my mind what is actually the problem that will effect me.
  19. Just a note to point out when trying to replicate things. Remember manpad is affected by the sun now or early morning. So test it in ideal conditions.
  20. I would say the 701 and WMD are exactly the same. no question is the 701 better. The 701 doesn't actually have zoom that i'm not aware off does it? I know the FOV button. JF-17 with 701 and WMD together and TGP on F-18 just for kicks but show how much worse the WMD is compared to the TGP all done with active pause on
  21. I have also had this experience with my WMR. Once it started happening if I swapped to a different airframe it would continue to happen also but ever sense I upgraded to the reverb I have not had this happen so far.
  22. Does anyone know what weapons this is? Is it the 802?
  23. @Northstar98 you mentioned the threat rings are perfect and preset, question do these rings get placed in before hand in to the system? That will mean the threat rings will only be available for already know location correct? always wondered how the F-16 had those rings.
  24. Like I said in my other post I’m not saying your incorrect in any of your reports cause again I don’t know the first thing about coding. I also could have explained it better when I used you as an example. It wasn’t meant to sound like you specifically don’t report on other modules. Was more pointing out people don’t report on other modules just cause of how it compares to another module. (Shouldn’t have used your name) Except that’s clearly the case here lol Apologies for that. I more hi jacked your thread (apologies) to point out a issue I still believe is embedded in DCS towards the JF.
