  1. Your thrust to weight ratios are wrong to begin with. Also if you look at the history of super cruise you will find a little surprise that completely debunks your strange claims.
  2. I also have ran into this issue. Apologies no track file as it was on multiplayer and about 2 hours long. File size is too big.
  3. Practice how to Toss in CBU-105’s. Use the HARM pod while your flying around and when you lock up something using the HARM wait till it gets more accurate. Then switch to you targeting pod and pin point the location of the SAM site. Create a mark point. Then fly in very low and fast and a few mile out pull up until the CBU-105 has released then dive back down quickly. I find this to be very effective and will always win against long range systems.
  4. This statement “This is largely a result of the lower skill floor required to fly a Viper.” suggest differently. I would agree the hornet has better systems then the viper to be more effective particularly in the pre planned missions. But that’s not skill that’s just better tools. As for tactics well they both are almost on par but where one has the advantage the other one doesn’t. The better skilled driver is the one that mastered how to make the other play into their game. I do fly the hornet I prefer the Viper as I find it more old school and fun but carrier ops is hard to move away from.
  5. Lol I wouldn’t say having the ability to click through a over complex MFD system means a higher skill set. The hornet is also the only jet I don’t bother binding trim cause it flies on rails which is great for a fighter but boring for a skill set. Most hornet drivers gave up on the F-16 cause it was too hard to land at the beginning. IMO The F-16 has a harder flight model for now, it may change in the future. This is mostly due to a inferior FCS and higher stall speeds. You use one weapon and the viper wants to do rolls like a 10 ton bag was dropped on one wing, Plus it looses speed faster then a comet but this change is coming but it’s still something viper drivers had to over come. You also must manage your speed much more in the viper both the top and bottom end. The F-16 also has less SA then the F-18 so you have to be in your game more especially due to the F-18 HMD just shows you everything. The F-16 has less iPhone screens so you have to be setup well and truly before any fight. In WVR the F-16 radar takes a significant amount of time more then the F-18 to acquire a lock. The hornet has its own skill sets as does the F-16, they are both better are something over the other. But your dreaming if you think your better then others cause you have to click more menu buttons then someone else or pull on the stick as hard as possible and shoot aim-9x, requires zero skill.
  6. I was attempting to engage a F-18 whilst in the F-16 on a multiplayer server. The F-18 was 34k feet and I was mostly below 5k feet. It was obvious they had no idea I was around. The issue is for over 20nm I could not get the radar to find them at all. Jammer was not active I had everything correct, we ended up merging with me on the 6 and not even the dogfight modes would work. I have a track file but it’s at the end of almost 2 hours flying. I have had this very same situation before also against a F-18 so I want to raise a issue but this will only be with track files that are hours long.
  7. The same question can be asked as to why only the F-16 has to align MAV’s.
  8. Just because it’s not a massive ball of flames doesn’t mean it’s not destroyed. I get what your saying in the debrief it won’t show points for being destroyed. But if your flying a mission for the objective and not for points then the JSOW is a great weapon cause it does cause the damage required to take planes out of action. If you were to hit a players plane on the ground with one of these they will not be taking off afterwards.
  9. I believe what NineLine is pointing out is that there are actually a lot of teams working on a lot of features that we know about and features that are kept a surprise. So if they we’re to do a weekly report then it would have to be on everything because you can’t do it for one and not the others, which would end up being a very time consuming exercise. I’m not saying I disagree with your point because it would be nice to have regular updates particularly on the FM for the F-16, But I appreciate that there is more going on then what most realise in terms of features being developed in the background.
  10. Think of it like this, if the Missile is radar guided you should get a warning in the F-16. Cause the system is picking up the radar signature not the missile. however their are systems not in the F-16 we have in DCS which are sort of like cameras that specifically looks for missiles ( no matter how the missile is guided) through a number of different ways and these will alert the pilot to where the missile is. I believe the JF-17 and A-10C have these systems in DCS.
  11. I haven’t heard of DCS simulating different frequencies for radar. Is this the case?
  12. @BIGNEWY @NineLine @Wags is someone able to provide some more information about the new implementation of the new ALQ-184 long version? What’s the difference within DCS between the two versions other then visual. Thank you.
  13. F-16 for sure easier, the F-18 IMO has an unnecessary complex software system and switches. The F-16 you could probably work out how to do everything without tutorials. However I would say the F-16 has a slightly more complex flight model.
  14. Can you prove this? Cause there is a open bug at the moment where modules can lock onto helicopters hovering behind objects. sure your not being biased here?
  15. It might be the formate your looking at, in the F10 map are you pressing ALT-Y? the format should look something like N39*28.379 E27*42.127 keep in mind tho the first number for the east needs to be 0 when putting the Coords on the aircraft.
  16. Add in a AWAC on your side. It’s good for starting with so you can see where they are but you will still have to manipulate the settings in the radar to acquire them. You’ll eventual get a understanding what radar settings work for different situations.
  17. So in the end the Viper will only be able to see one enemy contact as well as friendly contacts in the helmet mount display VIA datalink. Not like the hornet display where it shows multiple enemy contacts?
  18. What does Primary Datalink Track actually mean?
  19. 09:19 these guys. Something is wrong and ED are convinced the Viper numbers are spot on. But Movers statements says otherwise. Any how something isn’t right between the two.
  20. This is due to the Jeff having a data cartridge. A real life mission would have a series of airfield already preloaded during the planning process. In this case for DCS the JF automatically loads up 8-9 airfields If I remember correctly they are airfields closest to the waypoints. I think the bingo waypoint is closest to the last waypoint but I’m not sure. again as for the ILS civilian and military airfields often have GPS waypoints that can act as if it’s working on ILS but it’s really just the system working from input waypoints and altitudes and seeing where you are relative to these points and where you should be. In fact a lot of airfields are now not continuing to maintain ILS systems due to other cheaper GPS based alternatives.
  21. I see this statement all the time and is a poor excuse for an argument. They didn’t go down to the nearest scrap yard and beat an aircraft out of scrap on the ground. They didn’t have a over the top development project by trying to invent new stealth materials or shapes, they didn’t spend millions/billions over decades trying to develop a new engine. They developed a aircraft by inventing nothing new with lessons already learnt by other state of the art fighter programmes and they brought mostly everything that’s is already in use and PROVEN and put it all together to make what they got. a big difference between cheap crap and a cheap project.
  22. I have the opinion this is something likely to come but I’m wondering if someone is actually aware if this is a thing Im assuming that we can set markpoints or something like preplanned points instead of WPT’s so we can allocate Coords to GBU’s? So when you commence your attack you can just simply pickle the bombs off without having to change the WPT in between each pickle. Or is this a thing now and I’ve missed it? hope this makes sense.
  23. Yep which in my opinion if the LS-6 is a missile then so should JDAM’s. i fly F-16 a lot these days and I’m getting great ranges with JDAM’s
