WAGs already stated that ED is going to work with PIMAX (nextgen of VR, fingers crossed) once they release their product next year. Maybe with their LeapMotion add on we will finally get virtual hands that work in the DCS cockpit! Very exciting times, Hornet in VR is going to blow my mind!

Great video and definitely has me stoked to the EA release. The attention to detail is what we pay for so thanks WAGs and team. I noticed while taxing out to the runway the LDDI was on the checklist page and showed the Stab trim setting as 12 NU left stab and 11 NU right stab, while the RDDI was on the FCS page and showed the stab trim set at 12 NU for both left and right. Is this a small descrpency that exists on these pages in the real jet or an artifact of Early Access? Curious because I know you all do a great job modeling these little things to give a realistic touch. Glad to see I can set the seat harness, hopefully I don’t forget to set it and fly forward after a trap

Always enjoy the videos! Have you guys tried the LSO view in DCS 2.2 lately, it is now a PLAT cam view with camera viewpoint in the wires and in black and white video. All it is missing is the crosshairs. I think ED is up to something for the Hornet release and thought you guys would want to know. Cheers

Has anyone tried the LSO view in DCS 2.2, Normandy map? The view is now a PLAT cam view (camera is located in the wires and in black and white). I think ED is up to something for the Hornet!!!

1.5.8 AV-8B N/A - External MFD Export Issue
capthaltli replied to deadlyfishes's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Deadlyfishes, How are you getting the MFDs on your second screen? -
This card sounds like its more for industry or academic research (simulation and modeling). Any thoughts on using this card for DCS? I assume it would be a beast, and run VR (maybe PIMAX 8K) great, but if the card/drivers are not optimized or updated for gaming, not sure if that is true, thoughts?

+1 Would love to see this added, but I can't think of an airfield that would be accurate to have an FCLP box/IFLOLS on NTTR, Normandy, or Hormuz. I guess it could be added to an existing field and not represent reality, but I guess this is a simulation :) Also, I can see most sim pilots will forgo FCLP and go straight to the boat (and crash), but I would like the ability to practice and maintain proficiency with FCLP at some airfield.

Another thread of ideas for a mission could focus on Carrier Landing Challenges. Some ideas include: CASE I/II Ops: Varying winds (light, strong, axial, port, starboard) Pitching deck $HB competition (>500 knots, 500ft, 0.5NM break) Groove and interval precision (must follow interval AI traffic in pattern correct distance and stay in groove correct time) No HUD Single engine Sun glare off deck or IFLOLS (Clara approach) Break the deck (judge time to enter the break based off AI launching off carrier) CASE III Ops: CV1 approach flown and timed correctly with AI traffic on approach Moonless night Night in the barrel (LSO auto calls wave off or simulate hook skip to force multiple attempts) Pitching Deck No HUD Single Engine Mode 1 Anyone have any other ideas to add to the list?

Frusheen, I am using simtools, and curious if you simtools plugin works with DCS 2.1 Alpha? I am trying to get help with my 2DOF Reality sim and some jerky motion with small roll and pitch inputs. I pinged the simtools forum, but they don't seem to keen on me using DCS 2.1 alpha. I think the word alpha is throwing them off, but as we know it is pretty far along and not really an "alpha".

RAVENS, I used the long Veterans Day weekend to build my 2DOF sim which arrived last week. I used your settings and .lua (looked like the same .lua as the xsim post by SteveH without the Log.dgb script) and got everything working with DCS 2.1 which was great. I need to do more trouble shooting, but I am getting jerky motion, even though I am using the .lua file recommended on the xsim forum by SteveH to solve jerky motion. Did you ever have this problem in DCS? I noticed the game engine axis settings you posted for SimTool's pitch and roll of over 100% while Steveh recommends closer to 60%, curious your thoughts. Also, did you use any of the filters for the Axis settings in SimTools? Looks like "Smoothing" is supposed to help with jerky motion. I updated the .lua file in the DCS saved game scripts folder, but do I also need to update the export.lua in the main DCS script folder (C program files/)? Hope to get this sorted. Very close now :)

+1 big fan of having an LSO incorporated with carrier ops. Would be nice to have LSOs on the platform as eye candy too!

They must have heard about the DCS Hornet need to refuel off the C-130 that Razbam is working https://fightersweep.com/9062/picture-day-fa-18c-hornet-aerial-refueling-integrated-training-exercise/

Hey Raven's did you purchase a simtools license, if so which one? Also did you purchase the simtools plugin for DCS, or just create your own?

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
capthaltli replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Same for me, installed the latest. DCS works but P3D v3 does not anymore. -
Bravo Zulu Wags! I backed the 8K Pimax kickstarter and am happy to hear about this collaboration. Hope it is successful for all of us DCS sim pilots.

Disable ASW works for me.

Recieved word that my 2DOF sim is ready for shipment!!! Hope the wife doesn't kill me. Ravens, you mentioned on page 3 "There is another set of instructions with better pictures, I will find that link as well" Any luck finding these better instructions?

It would be great if we could get AI F/A-18C (and other navy aircraft) to fly a correct NATOPS carrier landing pattern at the direction of the mission editor (define waypoint: Carrier Landing). I have been trying to build a couple carrier missions in preparation for the Hornet release, but when programming the AI to land on the carrier, they fly a pretty unique pattern :helpsmilie: that would have any LSO or Air Boss shaking their head. Basically I've tried to create waypoints that simulate the entire pattern (altitude, shape, and speed), but when the last waypoint is listed as Landing the AI fly all over the place. If I am doing something wrong, please let me know, but I think this limitation will inhibit mission builders incorporating carrier landings into future carrier mission.

Thanks Ravens!

A little more detail on redundancy, if the HUD fails, switching to the DDI HUD is easier for the pilot to do since all the information is displayed in the same format. As opposed to if the HUD failed and switching to the stand by instruments (steam gauges) it would take some mental switching gears - which would not be good during night or IFR ops. My buddy who flew with VFA-37, had a No HUD carrier landing at night, and got his only OK pass ever.

Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!
capthaltli replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hi HEATBLUR, curious to know if the Forrestal class carrier is tracking or planned to be released with the F-14? Or after the F-14? Or before (being optimistic) :) I understand the F-14 is a very complex undertaking (flight model, avionics/systems, RIO AI, weapons, damage etc), not to mention eye candy/details on the exterior model. Is it fair to assume the carrier is mainly exterior model and texture work? The most complex systems being the catapult, arresting, and FLOLS? Or is that a naive assumption? Looking forward to future updates on the carrier and hopefully seeing the F-14 on it soon! -
Hey Ravens, still rocking the chair with DCS, how is the simtools tweaking going? Have you found nirvana with VR and the motion chair?
-
Wanted to brainstorm future missions for the Hornet. Input and ideas welcome. RAG - Fleet Replacement Squadron (not sure what Map would work best, thinking NTTR, even though the Charlie RAG is at Oceana, VFA-106) Missions include FAM Flights Formation (day/night) AAR BFM ACM AG FCLP Day CQ (Normandy map) Night CQ (use Normandy map?) Nugget - Welcome to the Fleet (all carrier based) Syllabus and quals to include wingman tasks, weapons use, and flight lead task. Would need a former or current Hornet pilot to maybe outline all the quals pilots get when they are in the fleet. Navy Fighter Weapons School - TopGun (NTTR would work best, wish we had Fallon) Syllabus includes ACM, BFM, AG that mimics NFWS syllabus. Would be cool that if you finished this mission you received a 'virtual' NFWS patch, and could be a patch wearer in MP.

Put in my deposit for the chair! Looks like they have high demand now, backorders, and close to a one month wait (I didn't tell them that one month of waiting is nothing for DCS customers :) Looking forward to your full flight video if you are still able to post. Also, will probably be hitting you up on tips for simtool settings and tweaks.
