  1. Looks as if the transfer of the scene from CPU to GPU can also take up to 5-6ms at DCS ... But thanks, it was very interesting and something again
  2. I thought you might even want to use a higher resolution because you say the 6800XT is barely capable of firing the reverb. Which texture setting can you use - High? Do you also have the feeling on the Causasus that the 6800XT the 6800XT is hardly able to fire the reverb. Sorry, just saw that we already had this topic
  3. But the GPU needs information from the CPU for the image. So that it's not 1+1 is ok, but that it doesn't build on each other can't be right either. If you're sure about that, thanks for the tip! That also means that an R5 5600 is actually enough in 9 out of 10 cases. Only with everything on Ultra, including traffic and such, does the 5600 drop to over 10-13ms. Bad servers or bad software ensure that it's not 10 out of 10 cases.
  4. The cache advantage will probably remain. Similar to the flight simulator.
  5. In 1080p you can see the difference in performance more clearly. That's all. In VR you often have CPU limitations, especially in multiplayer. there you will have the advantages that you also see in 1080p. If the X3D is now, for example, 30% faster, then you will also be able to get at least 30% more fps in VR in CPU-limited scenes. Or at least the frame times of the CPU are 30% better, at least. that's a big difference. But the 5800X3D also normally runs at 10ms (medium settings, high rather 15-18ms). Then there is the GPU with 5-25ms. Everything depending on the settings! If now the CPU only needs 7.7ms instead of 10 and the GPU 10ms. Then you had an improvement of 1. 10+10ms = 50fps too 2. 7.7+10ms=56.5fps or at high settings 1. 15+15ms = 33 fps too 2. 11.5+15ms = 38fps. However, if you have set DCS in such a way that you have reached around 72fps with low to medium settings, it should look like this. CPU at 8ms and the GPU at 6ms. 1. 8+6ms = 71.4fps to 2. 6.1+6ms=82.6fps You just have to see where you are, what you want and what it can do best. I have high hopes for Vulkan and DLSS as a bigger help than getting the fastest hardware. DCS currently uses 1 core massively and 1 core a little. If DCS can make good use of 4-6 cores with Vulkan, even on CPUs like an I7 9700k, or an R5 5600, that would be a bigger leap than an X3D CPU brings. Of course, depending on how ED Vulkan is optimized, it can only bring little. Hope dies last
  6. Are you using the native resolution of the G2, or are you trying a higher render resolution? I'm currently rendering (I'm optimizing, for my 3060TI) in 4700x2500 (rounded) and don't use MSAA for that at the moment. Otherwise almost everything is low. what i can observe What works great on the Caucasus, even with even higher settings, doesn't work well on the Mariannas. I have to reduce the forest visibility from 100% to 35-40% to have a smooth experience again. I'm not sure what you mean. What should you set where to have what effect? On the Mariannas I was now able to lash over the trees fluently for the most part ;)... Have you tried my settings or groped your way? You mean the FOV at 0.8/0.8 for example, or what do you mean?
  9. Und? Ist das jetzt ein Laberthread?
  10. first, have you tried to identify where exactly in what situations are you CPU or GPU limited? Your system is already high up the hardware food chain. I would think twice about spending money just for DCS at this point. On the other hand, a 4090 should give you an even bigger jump in performance. Think a 4090 can bring up to about 60% more power. Can also be worse depends on how DCS separates. From 40-60% is possible if you go by other VR benchmarks. If you have more power you will also find a setting that you turn a little higher. Or turn the resolution a little higher. Then, from the best-case scenario of 60%, only 20% more fps are left. I can ask myself a question Is it worth the cost to you Option a, only more fps, result between 49-63 and 56-72. Option b, more otpik and more fps between, 42-54 and 49-63. If the money is just over why not, you get a lot more too. The difference from day to night, it is not, but a good jump. An Intel 13000 to 12000 is only 4% more IPC and faster Ram support ex works, without OC. Personally, I would only run a little OC there and install faster Ram.
  11. that referred only to my cable and my motherboard. I then get a kind of distorted picture. however, it also puts a strain on the VRam from time to time. You can also test with 400.
  12. I don't know which maps you prefer to play. But I'm now making adjustments to the Mariannas because things are going the worst for me. In the Oculus Debug tool I only changed: - FOV tangent multiplier to 0.8/0.8, which gave me the opportunity to To increase the resolution again a bit, to 4128x2196 I think. - Distortion curvature low - Encode Resolution Width 3680 - Encode bitrate 400 (at 450 my link cable drops out) In the game I use textures in the AH64 mod, for all other modules medium. Otherwise everything is low Visibility medium 2x MSAA Forest visibility 40%(Marianas, more is possible on other maps) forest detail 1 Scenario 0.1 8x AF So far, I'm still testing, but this has been going well on the Mariannas in an AH64 mission.
  13. I can hardly imagine that you won't get anywhere with the 3060ti and the Quest 2. I haven't had the combo for long either, but I can already say that I can at least generate enough optics to have fun. How exactly did you do it? From today's perspective, I would first exhaust the Oculus Link before playing around with ingame settings or with the render resolution. So Encode Bitrate at least 400 (depending on the cable) Encode resolution width at least 3680 (depending on cable and VRam) I'm currently using the standard render resolution at 90Hz for testing. For testing I use the Mariannas card in the AH64, which is the most demanding combination for me. That looked promising after a short test... My settings for this are a mix of low and medium. I'm happy to share my in game settings with you at the weekend...
  14. I myself am also faced with the problem of which card it should be. I only got a 3060ti to bridge the gap. My thoughts are all about VR! The 4070TI has a slim memory interface and only 12GB, making things tight. I would only buy a 3090 used from someone I know, where I'm sure what they did with it. Only the RX6900XT and 6950XT are new. I don't spend more than 800-900€ just for a GPU. There are many contradicting statements about AMD, about the VR performance, which makes it very difficult. If the 4070TI had 16GB there would be no consideration, but as it is, for VR it's just tight and I don't think it will get any better once ED has switched to Vulkan. That's why I'm currently leaning towards a new 6900XT, but I'm still hesitating with a used 3090.
Gerade in Bodennähe will man Gras, Büsche, Bäume und Texturen... Welche Renderauflösung in Oculus App nutzt du? Pixeldichte in DCS 1,0?
  16. Wow, is the 3090 that expensive for you? You can't get them new here... You can get them new somewhere else. Anyway, just wanted to mention that 12GB can get tight in VR.
  18. Not mandatory, but 32GB Ram instead of 16GB will help. 12GB VRam is enough, but that's not lavish. An RTX3090 might be a better choice over the 4070TI.
  19. Would you also like to fly in VR?
  22. I have a 6700k running at 4.7GHz and a 3060ti. In combination with Quest 2 I can be very satisfied (basically) but in DCS VR 8GB VRam is simply the lower limit of the puke. I can only use a render resolution of 41.. x 21.. (I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head). Anything above that immediately overflows my memory. At least in the AH64. In the F18 I can also use a higher resolution. But only medium textures. Nevertheless, the Caucasus looks very good with ultra visibility and 100% forest visibility Do you use Steam VR?
  25. what memory do you have in the system now? For me, the combination of DDR4 has 3600 instead of 3000 and optimized sub-timings in connection with 4.7 GHz instead of 4.0 a good 20% more power. Of course only in the CPU limit. If I beheaded the 6700k and cooled it more, 4.8 GHz would definitely work. That should at least be the case with the 6600k. Of course you can also install a 7700k for a small dollar. Here in Germany there are pre-selected ones, sometimes in classified ads... They can also have 5GHz. Why am I telling this. Because an R5 5600 is about 18% faster at the same clock, or an I5 12400 for example 27% at the same clock. R5 5600 clocks at 4.5GHz and with OC 4.7GHz, accordingly there is only a maximum of 16% more fps than a 6600k with 4.8GHz. I5 12400 clocks in DCS with 4.4GHz (at least up to the Vulkan API, after that only with 4GHz because God willing all cores are used), accordingly there is only a maximum of 17% more fps. With a 7700k with 5GHz, this reduces to 12.5 to 13.5%. at 5.3 GHz, which is the maximum for the 7700k and for which you need a well-selected CPU, the advantage for 5600/12400 is reduced to just 8/9%. Only CPUs like 13600KF with OC and 5800X3D make bigger and noticeable improvements!
