  1. That's called "a break" and with a bit of left or right stick... pray your wingman is on the ball and yes... the labels situation has been mentioned many many times before... even by me ;) even the lackings of current technology and no one perfect solution, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
  2. So, I take it then (from your non answer) that your proposal wouldn't hinder that ability... perhaps, only strengthen it Thanks!
  3. that is exactly right.... the "umbrella" sukk'd A series of Fixed Presets, however, could be acceptable... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_harmonisation for both pattern and point harmonisation keep it realistic 1,000ft = 333 yards/ 304 meters
  4. @ Shagrat... as well all know, one of the favourites (of the airquaker) is running a low res on a large monitor(terms used generically) to game the screen, so to speak... we know this has the effect of making image pixels larger (blockier). It helps, those who would, find their far off distant target better. How would your proposal not be affected by this?? 3D would be of immense benefit... trick is to get the sim/ monitor/ etc to replay at an effective frame rate, as well as a viewing system which didn't cause the user problems with over continuous use so would a bit of sun glint here and there Scaling is just a gimmick
  5. @ Soulres... To be fair... comparing one game to another is misplaced, its not fair and it tends to mislead. Having said that, open the Control Panel for your video card and make sure Anisotropic and Anti-Aliasing are both set to Application Controlled for the DCS profile (I am assuming ATI does has a profile type thingy for the various games out there). Your card is the bottleneck, as mentioned earlier, but these two settings not being correct causes grief on better performing cards. Also make sure any "Gamma Correction" or forced(?) Ambient Occlusion setting is set to OFF. if you are using Windows 7, leave Aero on Overclocking won't help, it will only hinder and DCS has never been multicore aware (though DCS does send audio through a second core) CPU affinity doesn't do anything in Windows 7... that was for XP Also... make sure your Page File is set to the system default If you have "done the research" as you've suggested you have... you would know DCS E.D.G.E. was begun quite a while ago now (it was also quite a while ago that ATI dropped DX9 Support) and will be released when it is released - ain't much point in fishing around trying to dupe someone into revealing when
  6. and written/ released after long time buddy Sonny Bono's demise by a tree (with possibly some help) on a ski-field This one is an introduction... but still very much a bit of fun, as only Cher could pull off
  7. I'm wondering whatever would have Peter Parker thought? perhaps, thoughts of her sampling too much of Colorado's goodies before heading out?
  8. Check your Firewall to make sure access is Allowed
  9. "Flicker Free" lamp just uses a higher voltage and Hz... they're just a bit more evolved than their flickery cousins
  10. using digital camera to record the image on a monitor will always cause flickering unless the monitor's Hz and camera's scan rate match. It is also the same case for trying to capture a CRT screen... even analogue (clapper) cameras This has always been a problem in film shoots... especially when trying to get a night shot of a town and many neon signs are present if the match was correct... I wouldn't go near the flickery monitor
  11. In Formation Flying, the thing to do was stay out of it (WWII Training Films indicate 10' to the side (wing tip to wing tip)/ 10' behind (cone tip to tailplane) and 10' under (wingchord to wingchord) pretty much all gunnery film show only a moment's presence directly behind the target plane...
  12. being a TP, of course its going to have issues... but apparently 10041 (just trying it out here) everything so far, works and runs fine. Except though, it insists on not being able turn Defender or Windows Firewall off... current A/V gets scooped up and put to one side. Right Click on the Start Button to find your way around easily
  13. That's not what I asked....
  14. so how does that affect a large monitor deliberately run in a low resolution?
  15. yep... its a long way to the top Bon Scott, pre AC/DC and Vince Lovegrove, pre Divinyls (manager)
  16. but that in itself is a manipulative statement in itself.. it usually presents as calling people out as Trolls (an old one), or Respect My Opinion (this, being a new one on the market), or Nazis... however, its all the same thing, that of shutting down opposition to what is deemed by the few, the very few, as a righteous cause. eg Your view doesn't correlate to mine, therefore - you are a troll. Well, too bad (in general)... you want your view respected? best to learn to accept the views of others who might not agree with you Yes... labels is a big one and in dire need of being looked at
  17. too bad the infamous NVidia 81.95 "Sony Killer" VGA driver release, killed off thousands of CRT's worldwide now, coming back to a more realistic day... does anyone really think "demands" and "threats" (the direction of which, this thread seems to be taking), are really going to be welcomed and taken onboard with open arms????? and always, these type of threads pretty much nearly always become very "heated' the other thing is, "online polls" these days don't really mean squat... not while avenues to access multiple voting abound. eg going to a mate's place and joining up/ voting from there, or from a Internet café, etc, etc there are so many different ways to "sock puppet a vote" these days
  18. and there wasn't quite as many, as there was a while ago
  19. have to keep in mind though, that if the desire is to use the manufacturer's name... licensing is required _Trade mark laws, etc, etc But, under US Copyright Law, "Government Works" is not copy writable, as anything done by Government , is basically Public Domain, as it is publically funded through taxes collected, and as such it is owned by the Common Wealth... (that of the people), and therefore publically owned So, from that, the use of military designation is permissible, and anything associated with that. Who is the Commander In Chief (of the military)? yep, you guessed it, the publically funded office of The US Presidency. The military itself is funded from taxes collected from the public (and corporations) As appreciative as it is to have the full permission of the manufacturer, as soon as their "design" is accepted by the military, it falls into 'common wealth" domain and (manufacturers' lawyers like making some go weak at the knees with their promises of legal action) Kudos on trying the better approach though
  20. what scares me though, is DARPA
  21. hard to believe this started out life as a 16 bar doodle (uncredited)... went double platinum - can't find the original video clip though
