  1. Out of curiosity, what’s ********* about it? The Caucasus map is the Caucasus map, not the Caucasus-Turkey map. And the land around the southern, eastern, and northern margins of the Black Sea merely served to depict the shoreline rather than have an unbounded sea.
  2. So you’re saying that you didn’t learn it to become a better stick. Fair enough. But I’ll posit that, if you can AAR the “right” way you will be a better airplane driver in other situations as well. So it’s worth the effort regardless. That’s what those who don’t spend the time will miss and, if it’s important to them, will have to acquire in other ways. If it’s not important to them, that’s their call.
  3. Your mastery of the skill hasn’t been taken away. Nor have your bragging rights. Nor has your feeling of superiority. You learned the skill so that you can do it right. That’s it’s purpose. Nothing can take that away except forcing the “cheat” on everyone.

  5. Ahh…since I never start DCS from the updater, I didn’t think of that. Out of sight, out of mind.
  6. Hmmm…not when I tried it. Both are supposed to be a three-way toggle. First press, start, 2nd press, stop, and 3rd press, reset. But nothing happened with RShift+C. Perhaps because I didn’t start with a dead cockpit. Anyway, if it works for you, you have your answer.
  7. More importantly, make sure there isn’t a duplicate throttle assignment lurking somewhere. DCS has a bad habit of making automatic nonsensical assignments like views to rudder pedals, etc. So check around carefully.
  8. No it's a simulation, not reality. If I want to refuel and don't have the time to invest in "practicing" in a simulation and the crutch doesn't effect you, what's it to you? And adding such a crutch doesn't suddenly equate DCS to airquake.

Like I said previously, I seldom us the AP (and, if I do, it’s normally at high altitude). So I’ve never noticed the effect on the airframe. However, it terms of recentering trim, I’m aware of LCtrl+T. I was referring to using the trim keys themselves to get back the neutral.

  13. For starters, I never use the “H” key if there’s an “Alt+” alternative. It’s been my impression that it never worked as well as the Alt+ function. And I also almost never use the AFCS on either the MiGs or Su-27/33 but that’s another matter. What does matter is that, after seeing your post, I did as you suggested and had no issues with either Attitude Stabilization Hold or Baro Altimeter Hold at speeds well in excess of 650 km/hr. I did not, however use the “H” key which, if memory serves, is the equivalent of activating Attitude Hold and Baro Altimeter Hold together and that is not how the system works. You must first activate Attitude Hold when close to level flight, if you want to use Baro Altitude Hold. With Baro Hold now engaged, you can use the temporary override to either put yourself in straight level flight or a level turn, when the override is released. Using Attitude Hold alone, you can set yourself up for climbing or descending turns and or straight climbs or descents. But I’m guessing that you already know all of that. As far as the trim being out of whack when you switch the AFCS off is concerned, that’s a trimmer issue not an AFCS issue. In FC 3 aircraft anyway, once you move the trim from its start position you can never manually set it back to its original position. That’s true of pitch, roll, and yaw. Even though you can get back to “neutral trim” (green light is lit), it’ll always be a little off. The only thing that the aileron flutter does is toss the trim off in either a right or left roll with no ability to know which it will be ahead of time. I’ve included a track of my short air start flight. If you keep an eye on the AFCS lights, you’ll know what I’m doing when. On my end, everything went smoothly. MiG-29 AFCS.trk
  14. If there's a 20 user limit, it's not a free for all. If I'm understanding the Su-27 manual correctly, each aircraft's system only connects to a maximum of three other aircraft. So the joint commander can link to either his wingmen or to the element leads in up to 3 elements depending on switch settings. The element lead can connect to either the joint commander or to his 3 wingmen, etc. It's not 20 individual aircraft "talking" directly with one another.
  15. What exactly is still a problem that can be easily reproduced? Do you mean the aileron flutter? Because the AP modes themselves work fine for me. Attitude Hold and Baro Altimeter Hold are steady and Ground Collision Avoidance and Level Up to Horizon work, too. Path Following and Reapproach were never implemented.
  16. I guess I still don’t understand how something that is behind him is seen in front of him, FOV notwithstanding. He wasn’t looking backward. But that’s fine as it seems that WBK hasn’t been able to reproduce it.
  17. He didn't nose down at the wrong moment and, even if he had, the object would have been behind the cockpit not ahead of it. It's not as if he stopped moving forward while the lug continued to do so. OTOH, if it’s an unreproduceable one-off, it doesn’t much matter how it happened.

  19. Depends, I suppose, on whether you are flying as joint commander, element lead, or wingman. Each display has differences. The simplest would be the wingman’s. In that case all you would need to do is give each contact its number and display each sending aircraft that falls within the HDD’s set range with its number. Since, online you’re all flying as one huge element, that would probably be enough. You can tell whether the contact is one you have on radar, sent via datalink, or both by the structure of the symbol. Assigning a 1 for things you see and a 2 for everything else isn’t realistic.

  21. 1) You can rely solely on EOS, when using the ETs or you can use the radar to point EOS in the right direction. For the latter, turn on radar and lock the target. Select the ETs. EOS will now be slaved to the radar (it’s activated automatically because you selected an IR-type missile) and as soon as it can lock the target it will and direct the ET’s seeker at the target as well. As soon as the ET’s seeker has a lock and the target is within launch parameters, you will get the launch cue. 2) You will eventually burn through the jamming—I think DCS uses a range of 25 km for many fighter sized targets. It may be a bit more though, I’m not sure. But if you watch the jamming strobe, you will see the target mark embedded in the strobe, when you burn through. Alternatively, if you have an idea of his range and altitude from other sources, you could just lock the jamming strobe, hit launch override and let it fly. You probably won’t hit anything, but you might make an inexperience attacker sweat a bit. 3) Mount the jamming pods on the wingtips and turn it on (the E key, I believe but you’d better double check). I seldom carry them myself but, if IIRC, they take a few minutes to warm up and come on. You’ll get the flashing indicator during warm up. It’ll turn solid, once active. CAUTION: Do not fly around with your jammer constantly on. You scream your presence to the world and tell every enemy aircraft where to hunt for you. You also make yourself a juicy target for any number of ARH missiles. As for: That would be the effect of pushing the stick forward too quickly and causing excessive negative Gs. Be careful doing that in the Su-33 and Su-27, especially. It can lead to a very surprising result at times.
  22. 1) What were you doing, when you experienced the “blackness”? If you were flying straight and level, then it’s likely a graphics issue of some sort. If you were maneuvering sharply, then you probably blacked out because of pulling too many Gs. 2) As noted above, find and use the g-meter. Over g-ing the airframe will be less of an issue, once you have a flight stick. For now, gentle key taps at high speeds.
  23. Just run the updates as you normally would. The updater updates anything in beta that needs updating. Nothing special needs to be done. If you’re not used to updating separate from running the sim, just use the Windows start menu. Scroll down until you see the DCS updater and run it.
