R-27T/ET Tactics - How to use correctly?
Ironhand replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
You’re not missing anything. The limiting factor is that the missiles’ IR seekers have to have their own lock on the target. The IRST is just telling the seekers where to look. So, in the case of these missiles, range is simply a measure of how far it, technically, can fly. -
fixed Bug: LA incorrectly given for IR missiles
Ironhand replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Hopefully it’s an easy fix and won’t have a bottom dwelling priority. -
Actually, I got the subscription primarily to read that interview. My impression of what's being said and/or hinted at by Eagle is that they want to eventually get to a point where they do the underlying work once, and spread it across various products. So the same AI, the same maps, same weather environment, etc.
-
Then you should have little to worry about. Steel Jaw, though, will still consider it arcade:
-
Out of curiosity, what does an arcade environment look like?
-
Ahh… hyperacusis.
-
From your lips to god’s ear… Oh, FC3 will disappear someday. Maybe not soon but someday.
-
Well…for better or worse that’ll be the quandary. Eagle wants to have DCS and MAC as two distinct simming experiences. If you want FF, you’ll be in DCS. If your primary ride is one of the FC3 RedFor aircraft, you’ll be in DCS and nothing has changed…for as long as FC3 exists in DCS. If you want more relaxed gameplay, you’ll be in MAC. Once FC3 is thrown out of DCS, those cockpits will likely only be available in MAC for the foreseeable future. For me, personally, that’s when I’ll migrate to MAC as long as the MAC experience is at least as good as my current experience in DCS. If the experience is less, then after 25 years of an unconflicted time with Eagle, I’ll have some difficult choices to make.
-
Not unless there’s been a change in plans, they won’t. When MAC is released, it will come with the aircraft it comes with. The plan going forward is to eventually reduce certain FF aircraft to MAC level and make them available for MAC as an additional income stream. But, I suppose, anything can happens. Plans can change.
-
That depends on your target audience, doesn’t it? If you’re asking the hard core DCS crowd, that statement is obviously correct. If not, then the answer is far less obvious. But, since FC4 is not happening, all of this is moot.

A bit late to the party. Interesting video. In case it helps people to find stuff, here is a timeline (more or less) to the DCS content: 5:20 Discussion of AI in general and plans for DCS AI in particular. 15:00 It’s a game. Don’t want total fidelity. Bad guys can use it, too. 27:00 At this point can only look back in time for additional aircraft to model. So ground forces will be the new arena. 29:00 Ukrainian map too sensitive tight now as is Taiwan. 29:30 Dynamic campaign still in the works. 30:00 Chinook is next in the pipeline and coming soon. 34:00 For any aircraft, etc, must be able to demonstrate that the data for it came from legal publicly available documents. 36:00 How we decide what module to do next. 41:00 How do issues (“bugs”) get fixed? 43:00 The need to be very careful with documentation and what elements are included. 48:00 Viper radar lock loss bug. Also talk about real world failures and whether to include them in sim. 50:00 Hornet flight dynamics being reworked. 51:00 Full briefing room coming for the carrier. 52:00 Super Hornet not likely and reason why. 53:30 DCS sufficiently modeled that can be used to teach. DCS compared to real world military simulators. 57:00 Did Top Gun 2 help with sales? 58:00 Possibility of destructible trees. 59:00 Additional carrier crew coming soon. 1:00:00 Looking for air boss voice actor. 1:01:30 Wags’ game preferences. 1:02:40 Korea and Vietnam maps. Not now but will come. 1:05:00 Full DCS C-130 will eventually be made. 1:06:00 An entire logistics system is in the works and it’s application to the dynamic campaign. 1:07:00 Difference between DCS and real world experience in the cockpit. 1:12:00 Kola Peninsula map. Whole world map. 1:15:00 Eurofighter. Kiowa. 1:20:30 S-3 possible but far down the list. 1:43:30 Any chance of a Gripen or Rafale? The docs are the issue. 1:44:30 Possibility of FF Su-27, MiG-29, plus more on type and sources of information they can use.

In the DCS folder, Yes
-
You don't see it because, in Microsoft's infinite wisdom, your system is set to not show it. It's a "hidden item". Select your C : drive, select the "View" tab at the top of the pane, and check the box labeled "Hidden items".

Are you trying to convert the track files to video? Or are you simply trying to watch the track file? If you only want to watch it, the “Replay” button is what you want to use to load the track. EDIT: If you are trying to use the “Record AVI” function in the Mission Editor, try using the “Replay” button first and see if the track file loads there. If so, it may be simply that the “Record AVI” function in the Mission Editor is broken. I don’t know if anyone still uses it. The last time I used it was back in the LOMAC/Flaming Cliffs 1.x days.

Yes. The centerline tank empties first.

They are, if “п” is typewritten or printed and “n” is cursive.
-
So far, you've "voted" four times.
-
Why not let ED decide what is a waste of their time? Who appointed you the gatekeeper?
-
He’d like to do it only once.
-
Perhaps he’d just like to screw something up once, instead of multiple times, before he’s able to realize what he’s doing wrong. Just a thought.

A truly beautiful part of the world that I’ll be going back to shortly. Extend the map 3000 km to the west and you can include the Aleutian Islands. Depending on how you do it, you could end up with a lot of water without too much land to model for naval operations, too.
-
Well...almost. The BVR AA mode displays TAS on the HUD, while every other mode--the various WVR AA modes and NAV--display IAS. BVR displays TAS because you need to quickly calculate closure rates, etc and IAS doesn't allow you to do that at all. Or that's my take on it. anyway. Oh, and "Reticle" mode displays no airspeed at all.

Order wingman/fight to attack/left right bandit
Ironhand replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That works as long as the aircraft your flight uses has radar, of course. -
What you’re looking for is how to set up custom Snapviews. Google DCS Snapviews and you’ll have the info you need for setting them up for yourself.
