[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
A2597 replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
ok, so been watching some you tube clips, played around with this a bit before, but since my play time is quite limited (I get one evening a week to fly)...a couple questions. 1: tasking related...given limited flight time, what happens to all the AI tasks if I finish mine and land before they RTB? What if the units have completed their mission (strike, etc) and are still mid air when I end mission? Are they just teleported back to base? Or do they start mid-air next mission? 2: Any suggestions for a first time user, with limited flight time? thanks! -
New to DCS World: Are F-16, F-18, F-14 and A-10 cockpits clickable?
A2597 replied to ***Waxer***'s topic in DCS 2.9
But, better to buy direct from ED, as then they receive all funds. Steam takes a cut off the profits. (I started out on steam, bought the F-18 there...then as I descended the rabbit hole of A10, F16, Maps...went standalone and bought from ED directly) -
whow, now that is a detailed post! Thank you so much! And now I really want my CH Fighterstick to have a push button on the castle hat...lol

Shoot... Hopefully the MFDs are somewhat simular. (Screen/semsor of interest, etc). Will be watching with interest!

So, I primarily fly the F-18, and love it. I tinker with flying the F-16 and A-10, but the cockpit navigation is so totally different from the F-18, specifically HOTAS functions for the displays that there's always a "Wait, how do I do this in this plane again?" pause because the functions are so totally different. As a dad with two young kids, my flight time is *very* limited, and sometimes a couple weeks go by between flights, so that adds to the mix of "I can barely remember everything in my primary plane, let alone try to train for multiple planes." Looking at the F-15, another McDonald Duglas plane the cockpit looks VERY familiar, and HOTAS as well. This has me hoping that the learning curve jumping between planes would be minimal, as many controls would be the same. Does anyone have knowledge of if this would be the case? I'd *love* to have another plane I can hop in one in awhile and use to some affect! Thanks,

I use the two VR Zoom options, mapped to my HOTAS. Helps a lot with blurry text/instraments

DCS Performance with VR - What is truely needed?
A2597 replied to lardo5150's topic in Virtual Reality
I got hooked with a OG Oculus Rift CV1 and a GTX770, then base GTX 1080 (non ti). Then I got an RTX 3070 and R5 3600 and 32GB Ram. -
I use a free lighthouse bluetooth app, makes it an easy fix for when the lighthouses refuse to turn on or off (Doesn't happen every time, but happens to me occasionally. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jeroen1602.lighthouse_pm&hl=en_US&gl=US

Big FPS drop in VR / multiplayer / passing other players
A2597 replied to FoxxyTrotty's topic in Game Performance Bugs
So fixed my issue by wiping and re-installing windows. Issue was present in games other than DCS, so had to be unrelated. That said, Simlink stuff seems interesting.. -
Shipping has been crazy lately across the board. Hope it arrives quickly. My issue was slightly different than yours, as it effected both VR and non VR games, so wasn't headset specific.

So I wiped my HDD and reinstalled windows... And all is well again. Nice and smooth framerates in games (and VR).

Single digit FPS across all games, RTX 3070
A2597 posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So been a couple weeks since I could play games. started DCS,sideshow, 9fps on the ground. Go to booto another game up,and total sideshow. Try another, same thing. Every GPU involved game is unplayable. 3-9fps. I tried updating drivers,no luck. System info viewer shows low GPU and low CPU usage. No overclocks, checked with Ms after umber and everything is stock. Gamer benchmark gave me above average ratings across the board, listing my PC as a ufo, HOWEVER in the user input test is was 30pfps, until I hit esc and it went windowed, where it too dropped to single digit FPS. I tried resetting all nvidia settings to default, no change. Any ideas? Windows 10 RTX 3070 R5 3600 32GB 3200 RAM -
Now I'm curious if I have the same issue. At first, I thought it was just DCS, but now I'm seeing I can't play any VR game. Steam VR home is perfect, 3ms frametimes, or less. Beatsaber menus? Flawless. Beatsaber game? 20+ms frametimes Dcs is the same. Totally unplayable in games. Dunno if its steamVR, vive console, or something else....it all worked flawlessly a couple weeks ago.

Big FPS drop in VR / multiplayer / passing other players
A2597 replied to FoxxyTrotty's topic in Game Performance Bugs
all the above is set (aside from shadows medium, terrain shadows flat). I had DCS working pretty much "as good as I could", then had to take a couple weeks off flying because of life...came back, updated, and lost all my FPS. (Only DCS though, other games fine). I'm far from alone on this judging by the closed topics, so I'll just wait for the fix. Just adding my voice to the chorus. -

My open beta is totally unplayable in VR at the moment for me. single digit FPS (Down from 30s to 45+). Tried dropping settings to FAR lower (literally dropped all settings to min/off, 1/3rd previous resolution) and managed to get up to low teens FPS on the ground. RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, R5 3600 -
That guy only got shot at twice... I can evade 2-3 missiles, but I have more than that being launched. He also never had missile shot at him while flying over the city, which also happens to me. Moot point, as I said, edited the mission so next time I fly it I can continue the campaign.
-
Never actually used the ECM...that's a good thought.

Playing this...loved missions 1 and 2, (started with Nevada). Mission three to photograph the sams I've now tried 6 times. Yes six times. Low and fast, gave myself HARMs, yes using countermeasures... by the time I have 3+ missiles coming at me there just isn't any way to avoid all of them, especially at the end where you have to fly straight and level at 1000ft. Ugh...it wouldn't be so bad if restarting didn't mean another 20 minute flight. Ran out of time to fly for the week, so edited the mission to delete all the sams, and next week will just say "they were setting up the sams sites, but not yet active, photograph so we know where to hit!" to keep the immersion.

The only time I've ever opened DCS in pancake mode is to work in the mission editor. I've only ever flown DCS in VR, and couldn't imagine doing it with TrackIR.

And there you have it. Thanks guys!

So at some point the SIO switch changed with the Radar, and being a pilot that can only muster a couple hours a week to fly I don't even know when this happened...but I could use some help. I'm used to the SOI switch being Up = HUD/HMD Down = Lower MFD Left = Left MFD Right = Right MFD This works, unless I have the radar up. Then it starts switching radar modes? How do you exit the "switching stuff on the radar screen" back to changing SOI? Only way I've found to do it is turn off the master arm. Thanks,
