Any idea what the anticipated price will be?

Love posts like this, flying was a dream of mine as well, but I didn't get nearly as far as you! Flying DCS in VR is as close as I'll ever get to flying these kinds of jets, and I love every minute of it. F-18 is my primary plane as well. One last tidbit, if you have any cash left in that 3k, get PointCtrl. It's easily the best investment for DCS I've made past the headset itself. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/input-and-output/219878-new-vr-pointing-device Welcome to the world of VR Flightsims, see you in the skies!

worst case, replace the pots with the hall sensors available a couple topics down. I did that to my Fighterstick and it's been awesome.
-
and with PointCTRL, now we essentially have hands. Removing one more boundry between reality and VR. :D

Sadly, xplanes mouse is pure garbage. I'm hoping MSFS does MUCH better, hoping to get on the VR beta specifically to critique the VR Mouse to ensure compatibility. LOL
-
Add my voice to the chorus, don't want to fly without it now!

@Thinder, similar place here. R5 3600, GTX 1080 (non Ti). There's a small part of me that wants to get a GTX 1080ti and Reverb G2, but I think I'm going to keep saving for a little bit longer, and see what happens over the next year, both Headset wise and graphics card wise.

I'm not surprised the A-10 got it first, ground is it's only role, and they got paid for the work. :) I'm willing to bet there is carry over, although it will not be a 1:1 port of code obviously.
-
Making marking points would be the primary need IMHO, although the TPod feed being displayed was awesome.

So after seeing the A-10's new HMCS, I'm really curious as to what the capabilities of the F-18s JHMCS is for AG mode? I know it's planned for this year, just wondering what to expect from it.

Decisions Decisions. I have around $600 budget right now to invest into DCS (Or gaming in general). I have a R5 3600, 16GB Ram, and a GTX 1080 (Non ti). This run an Oculus CV1 with no issues at a Pixel Density of 1.4, enough I can easily pilot the F18, which is my main craft. Been looking at getting either a RTX 3080 or 3070 as a GPU upgrade, but got to say, the Reverb G2 is crazy tempting. I know I'd probably have to lower the pixel density to run it on the 1080 in DCS, but the added clarity sounds so good. The other option is...just keep saving. See what comes out in a year or two, and possibly buy new headset and video card at the same time... Thoughts?

Someone Please Invent a BETTER Headtracker
A2597 replied to Cpt Cuckoo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
ED Tracker comes to mind... There's also the ones that use Facetracking rather than IR LEDs, but need a well lit environment. Tobii Eye uses eye tracking and gets good reviews... -
Just saw the airshow, looks awesome guys!

I've focused primarily on the hornet, and love it. But the A-10 is tempting...

Thinking about the "Always up" server, a well modeled dynamic weather system gets my vote. Real time weather is not needed, but something that creates realistic weather with variance over time would be awesome. But agreed, the weather systems themselves need to be larger than the rendered map. No minecraft "Oh, it's suddenly rainy" transitions, have the weather front move in.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
A2597 replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm itching to try PointCTRL in FS2020, I raised the issue of click and drag mouse rotary knobs, but I don't believe it's been addressed yet. Have to use the mousewheel button, which is a little slower than click and drag. But for switches and everything else, I think it will work pretty smoothly. (I hope!)- 3421 replies

The processor and Ram you selected should be *plenty*, and that will help with units, but the 2060 will slow you down.
-
That's a steal of a deal for someone! Good luck

I did the same, worked great! Gave it to a friend once I switched to VR.

Love comments like this, thank you. And I don't see MSFS2020 as competition, it's civilian flight, not military. That said, it *will* make us drool over the clouds/graphics, LOL.

Results from a performance survey I posted...
A2597 replied to grammaton_feather's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I'd be interested in dev feedback on this. I mean, there's man hour investment in activating these features (which hey, I'd love it, but I'm guessing this is more than a simple "paste this line of code in for 100% more FPS!), so what type of gain would be expected and how does it impact other engine features like Vulcan, etc. -
Great work guys! You can really tell the work that went into this mod! :D
-
Woot woot! Looking forward to this!

And option to hide and also size/opacity would be great. I will always use it as a Rift CV1 user (I still have trouble even seeing where it's *supposed* to be on the boat, so this is great) but more options are always good.

Borrowing my dads Rift S. For sims? It's awesome. Beatsaber? Pretty good. Anything roomscale where you move your hands out of view of the cameras? It's garbage. Skyrim VR can't pull a bow (Controller near face means it can't see it, so no luck unless you only half pull). Golf? Can't swing the club (no cameras in back). Went back to my CV1 quite happily. Looking at next gen with external tracking.
