it is an amazing deal, surprised no takers!

Hows fov compared to g2 for you? I
-
My order shipped late last night, with an expected delivery of tomorrow.
-
same here! Fingers crossed. Also, reading on two bad headsets so far, (in discord and reddit) One guy said he hung his on a VR Wall Mount, screens up, and next morning had a massive moire pattern that went away after leaving the headset on for awhile. Another had odd refresh issue where it looked like it displayed no picture for 2 out of every 3 frames, and the 3rd frame was only half the screen. Hoping these issues are not wide spread.
-
yeah, US seems to be lower on the priority list for shipping it seems. Hopefully news by tomorrow. I can't use it until next week anyway.
-
it's similar quality to G2, lower brightness, better colors, worse sound, better FOV. So, not an "Insta Buy" for everyone, but it's basically my ideal upgrade.
-
Just waiting on my pre-order to ship. I waited until the 28th, so doubt I'm first in line.

I know ED Won't add proprietary solutions like NVidia's DLSS, AMD's response is an open source solution that works on both AMD and NVidia cards, and offers similar benefits. https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-fidelityfx-super-resolution-announcement-release-date/ What are the odds we can see this added to DCS at some point? For VR users especially some extra frames would be a huge benefit.

I pre-ordered from HTC, their chat support said shipping starts June 3rd, so..hoping I'm in that first batch.

Vr legion updated their review after a firmware update, now say its 99% the clarity of the g2! https://vr-legion.de/tests/htc-vive-pro-2-im-test-der-5k-herausforderer-mit-grossem-fov/ Update May 31, 2021: With the update of the Vive Console released today and a firmware update for the Vive Pro 2 included in it, a lot has actually changed. So much that I will have to adjust the conclusion as well. Primarily it's about the image clarity that I criticized in the test - with the update, the Pro 2 actually behaves exactly as I would have expected based on the technical data. The image is now actually very sharp and only minimally behind the HP Reverb G2 in details (such as the clarity of the writing). You have to find the sweet spot of sharpness first, but if the glasses sit correctly on your head, that's no problem and then a very wide area of the image is very razor-sharp - only at the edges, as always with Fresnell lenses, is it blurrier.

Edit, wrong thread...
-
At least now there's more of us to test and help troubleshoot DCS and find graphical ideal settings for this beast of a headset. Lol
-
I'm getting one too. Coming from cv1.
-
Yeah, and his clip from XPlane showed me all I needed to know to feel comfortable pre-ordering, along with two V1 base stations. Next up, some Knuckles from Valve...
-
I actually paid the $1 to read MRTV's review while he's still editing. I think I'm convinced to pre-order now. He addresses many of the issues that have come up, and it sounds like the perfect upgrade for me. *almost* Reverb G2 quality, but with Index FOV. not as good sound as Index/G2, but if I'm that perturbed by it, I'll grab my Bose headphones. LOL Getting the older V1 lighthouses, since no real reason to get V2 for my room setup.
-
Hesitant to preorder, I mean, 50$ savings isn't much, but it's something... but need a *good* review before I feel confident doing so.
-
I'm still torn after the initial reviews. VR Oasis just released his take too: 1k is a lot of money for me, but I really want a wider FOV with higher clarity than my CV1. G2 gets high clarity Vive Pro 2 gets FOV, with middle clarity Index gets FOV with low clarity Kinda leaning towards Vive Pro 2 just because roomscale, but...good grief the cost of entry is high. (Need whole set, can save some by getting V1 lighthouses, but still)
-
Initial reviews are due out tomorrow (MRTV for one has stated he'll be releasing his review on the 27th). Once that's in, I will know if I'm getting a Vive 2 Pro, or the Reverb G2.

So, full disclosure, as a life long aviation enthusiast, I've never liked the Hornet. I was sour on it for replacing the Tomcat, and always viewed it negatively. I bought it only because I wanted a modern multi-role fighter, and it was the closest thing I could get (at the time) to my favorite plane, the Viper. This module made me love overcome my own opinions, and now I absolutely love the Hornet. It's become one of my favorite planes, and even though I own the F-16, I rarely fly it, as I keep coming back to the Hornet! Amazing work ED.

Seriously eyeing this as an upgrade from my CV1... Waiting for reviews. Which means I have to spend an extra $50, since I'm not pre-ordering it...

actually just realized Vive lets you a-la-carte purchase... So I could get the Vive Pro 2 with a single base station for around 1k, and then buy Knuckles and a second base station later. Now *that* is tempting...
-
With the Vive Pro 2, the extra $400 really throws me, plus...bad controllers at that price point. If I could just spend the $800 on the headset, sure...but I need two base stations, new controllers (since I do some roomscale) and the headset. So $999 gets me into the Steam VR ecosystem with the Index, and I can later update just the headset. (Possibly with whatever the *next* gen is).
