  1. Notice, this is not a flame of your post Frazer =) Just me venting I guess... All this talk about dual core support is really confusing for everyone. We should make it the norm to call it what it is and nothing else. Dual core support implies (at least in my ears) multithreading (i.e. the game taking advantage and exploiting several cores of one processor, or using several processors in such systems), something this game does not support. Since patch 1.0.1a DCS: Black Shark automatically set affinity to all cores/CPU's. Nothing else. ("Since" here means that version 1.0.1b and 1.0.1c also have this functionality)
  2. It won't work for me. Just to give you a heads-up about it FullerGer. Attached some screencaps of some of the error messages. I essentially get two error messages per header in the .ini and then Windows 7 shuts down the application and notifies me that the program doesn't work. Also, everything is in german and not english. There isn't a ReadMe either btw?
  3. I'd love a tiny review of the Saitek Pro Flight Headset from the winner of them! ;) Thanks again to the organizers:thumbup:. Obviously I acted without reading through the requirements and thus only did a t&g at Kerch and then headed back to Khersones just like in the qualification.
  4. I liked the event as well! Great idea. I'm unfortunately a bit stomped by the fact that Race Control decided I didn't come to a full stop, which I most definitely did in my track file... Ah well, never mind - no hard feelings. Just curious(?). Also I find it strange that my name is listed as fredrik.boulund and not as my nick "Boulund" that I signed up with... Great thanks to the organizers and everyone that participated! A shame it can't be done in real time though =/ ;) (it was a bit lonely flying there for a while) Looking forward to my Certificate of participation now =D
  5. I finally got around to deciding and went for Plantronics Gamecom 367 (closed cup design). Have only used them for like an hour and a half but so far so good. The cups are nice and isolate external sounds a bit (but nowhere near real muffs), but the main thing are the nice big size of the muffs, fully encapsulates your ears and they're soft as well with crushed velvet padding (not like that horrible-looking mesh thing on their promo pictures). They are light-weight but still very sturdy in their design - I'm hoping these will last me a long time. Audio quality is what you can expect in this price range, but not at all focused on bass response (which is good imo). It's in my opinion perfect for gaming and voip but lacks a bit for music playback (can be somewhat fixed with a good equalizer setting). The cords is a tad short in my opinion and the in-line volume control is quite nice (better than my last two anyway), unfortunately it doesn't completely shut off when set to 0 volume (like it should) but instead there is a very light sound heard in the headphones even when turned down. No big deal, but still... The cord feels like some kind of striped, rather thick, plastic and it's probably ok. No nice textile-sheath here. The microphone's quality (physical) seems ok, sturdy attaching point with a flexible, rubber-coated, endpoint. The noise-canceling feature seems to be working very well I might add, and the voice quality during recording is really nice. I haven't had a chance to try it out in voip with any friends yet but I think it'll work out just fine. All-in-all. From a guy who's only used them for 1.5h I would place these as a strong candidate in the sub $50 USD category.
  6. I had fun, even if we where only three =) Lets try to set up another event and get some more people together on teamspeak. Thanks all for tonight
  7. I guess I'll see you on Panzertard's teamspeak-server around 17:00 (UTC 16:00, that's in like 1h10min)?
  8. Very nice to hear some comments after a couple of months wear-and-tear. Thanks!
  9. I just bought regular narrow-angle IR LEDs (for remote controls) and filed them down with some sandpaper. It works equally well with a nail file. File them down almost to the filament (i.e. make the front/top all flat). As long as your LEDs are IR-LEDs with a wavelength of 940nm or something like that you should be home free.
  10. When trimming, remember to center all flight axes. That is pitch, roll and rudder. Not centering the rudder has been a source of problems for a lot of people I think.
  11. Actually, it's MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory). But close enough ;) Wonderful piece of software by the way. Couldn't live without it.
  12. I'll see what I can conjure up from the archives. My father and his siblings have a strong background in Glögg-making ;) I'll edit the post when (if) I can scrounge up some of the old secrets. I can start off with a "classic" recipe: Classic Glögg 0.75 litres of red wine (any kind would do) 2 peices of cinnamon stick 8 peices of clove 12 peices of cardamom 5 tea-spoons regular white sugar 1,5-2 decilitres of regular vodka There should be some ginger in here as well, but I'm afraid I don't know what quantity Extra for serving: Peeled almonds (flakes, crushed or whole), raisins Instructions: Heat the wine and the spices carefully, add the sugar and stir until it dissolves then add the vodka. Bring it to almost boil, then immediately pour in small cups and serve together with the almonds and raisins. Danish Glögg 0.5 litres of red wine 2 deciliters of raisins 2 deciliters of red port wine (the stronger the better ;)) 1 decilitre of brandy 1 decilitre of rum (dark one) Mix raisins, brandy, rum and port wine and leave it for a week. After one week add regular wine, heat carefully under lid. Strain it and serve with new fresh raisins. (The old raisins go perfectly in fruitcake;))
  13. Let's do both then! No reason to keep confined to either one - they are soon part of something bigger than themselves anyway ;)
  14. There is actually! Take these ones for example: Klipsch Image S4i Headset Roccat Vire Steelseries Sibera In-Ear Headset I'm not sure about the audio quality of these things tough as I haven't tested them myself or know anyone that has... For myself I'm thinking along the lines of the Steelseries Siberia V2, but can anyone tell my why V2 isn't available in black without USB? I fell in love with giant ear-pieces several years ago but never really got around to getting a decent headset with them. Looking around it seems most "gaming" headsets are just crappy plastic, stiff headbands with lousy coushions... What I want in a headset is this: * LARGE ear-pieces (totally covers your ear, like a good pair of earmuffs) * Good sound isolation from exterior sources (earmuffs, remember?) * In-line volume control (I'm ok with only for the speakers, no need to shut off the mic - but welcome of course ;)) * NOT usb * Long cord (talking 2-3 meters at least) * HIGH quality microphone - nothing flimsy noise cracking like in every other headset I've ever used... So far my findings have led me to Steelseries Sibera V2 and Saitek Pro Flight Headset.
  15. As long as you are using only client-side mods we should all be ok I guess? What's this about hyperlobby? I thought we were going to fly Black Shark?
  16. What a great topic, my (rather new) headset is just about to break down because of some bad design choices so I'm also on the prowl.
  17. I'm happy just to be a part of it. My first ever virtual flight contest, wee. =D
  18. The question you're asking is exactly the one answered in what X-plane is. Read about it on their homepage - it might be JUST what you're looking for http://www.x-plane.com/index_desktop.html
  19. Looks amazing ... And time consuming ;)
  20. I don't mind TS2 at all, it's just that I like ts3 better ;) On the topic of planned laundry it's more of a convenience and making me prioritize such important things instead of continously post-poning it until I run out of clothes =D
  21. Enlighten me please, what is the cost of the common weapons of the Ka-50? Someone mentioned only a couple of targets justified the expense of a Vikhr, so exactly how much is that?
  22. We're still on Teamspeak 2? Ah well, no biggie ;) I've a laundry-time that starts at 17:00 but I'll get the missus to do that I guess...
  23. Sounds awesome! Looking forward to your in-depth review and screen shots ;D
  24. Let's decide on a day for just meeting up on a server online somewhere to get things started. We'll never get anywhere if we don't start ;) I'm suggesting this sunday (24/01-2010) - either morning or evening.
  25. It's also in the room where they first wake up, on the console that they crank-start...
