I have to include another recommendation for some kind of head-tracking device, be it TrackIR och FreeTrack or whatever. I tried flying a mission the other day without FreeTrack since my webcam has gone nuts and BOY was I hampered by not being able to look around like I'm used to. One year of head-tracking makes me think that I could really live without HOTAS, but not a snowballs chance in hell that I'd ever want to play flightsims without headtracking again. =) Excuse the langue...

Really a lovely thing to see! Unfortunately I missed it live, but saw the "replay" on youtube =)

Since it seems the licence issue is settled I can now mention my experiences with Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I used my Extreme 3D Pro since 2005 I think and I was really pleased with its performance. It worked very well with all sims I tried it with and considering the price tag it was very good. Then this summer I made the switch to a Saitek X52 Pro and boy does this piece of hardware outperform the previous one, but I must say that I was equally proficient at flying the helicopter with both - no real difference here. Composing a good mapping of the buttons of the joystick can make even the somewhat spartan button layout of the Logitech extreme 3d pro semi-HOTAS. =D This reminds me, your question about the throttle-unit of the X52 DOES function very well as the collective control in Black Shark. Whichever you decide I'm sure you'll be satisfied, and if you decide on the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro I even left my old configuration file somewhere on the forums (a quick search should find it would you want to)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Boulund replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I constructed this from what imagery I found in the flash-banner. Note that this is more than just a screenshot of the flash-banner. I've merged several images as the camera pans across the stick so that more is visible at the same time =). Just a simple example to show what I mean: it is impossible in the banner to see the text "off" on the bottom part of the image and at the same time see the black "circle/hole" on the stick (on the upper part of the image). Just so that we have it here on the forums for public viewing whenever =D edit: I managed to get even more into the same image. Some part don't really align well, but here is everything displayed in the ad anyway -
I like Angel of Death by Slayer, it kind of feels so fitting =) Other than that I kind of prefer no music at all, it's distracting ;)

I'm not all against the idea of the limited activations and deactivations. Buuuut on the whole with this starforce system some details are really plain out annoying. How the system (which you are most definitiely aware of Panzertard ;)) takes into account the number of network adapters. Something that I really didn't foresee and sometimes am unable to foresee changes to when playing around with virtual computers and VPNs. The starforce activation system should really only consider changes to the major system components like CPU, motherboard and Operating System. Taking into account amount of memory, network adapters, harddrives (not sure if it really does that now though...), graphics cards, really shouldn't be a part of it. All of these change every now and then because of troubleshooting or just consumption-happy nerdy upgrades ;). Sometimes even my Bluetooth network adapter or is reinstalled because of a faulty driver or sudden powerloss or some other strange reason beyond my control. I now realise that I spent most of my morning ranting about the copy protection instead of doing something constructive. Sorry about that. Regardless - what other people have told you in the thread before me is true and I concur with them. I still have 3 activations left after a year of harddrive crashes and OS reinstalls and memory upgrades and several virtual machines =D:pilotfly:

But as usual they wouldn't work in online play where the server has lua-export disabled?

TCR 2010 Qualifivation results
Boulund replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for all info! Happy to be one of all the people that submitted and qualified =D I'm just wondering why it is that my name is listed as "fredrik.boulund" (my email-alias) instead of the call sign I submitted? No big deal at all, just curius if it was me you where referring to as the person who didn't submit his call sign (which I actually did, but maybe you missed it)? -
This is more than I reckon most people here hoped for. You've got my $15 for sure, be it though with mixed feelings concerning the copy protection...

I can't really decide whether I liked it or not. Played with two friends in COOP but after a while it just gets very repetitive. Might want to finish it just for the sake of finishing it but imo it kind of fell flat halfway through somewhere. The weapons en-masse is just too much somehow.

I'm also in sweden but I'm half-danish so language's really no problem for me either. I'd love to play with some more scandinavian folks but real life really can get in my way sometimes. There should really be some more direct way to get hold of people when you wan't to play, the forums are a bit slow to get instant feedback on game interested people online.

not sure how to activate night vision goggles.
Boulund replied to markbond's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
A small addition to the stuff other people have said earlier: To see the buttons and knobs behind the cyclic you can move your head position by holding middle-mouse and moving the mouse. -
Maybe you are talking about moving the head with the mouse? Made possible by pressing left Alt + C, which switches between three states: mouse-view with clicking, mouse view, and just clicking. Moving your head about in x, y directions is done by pressing and holding middle-mouse button and moving the mouse.

reminds me of this one!

Logitech 3d pro help please.
Boulund replied to astroknight's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi! Welcome to the forums! I had just the same problem before I figured out that the throttle is not correctly assigned (mapped) in the game settings. Go into Options and Controls and make sure you select "Ka-50 Game" from the dropdown menu list to change the controls for the arcade game mode. Then pick Axis Commands or whatever it's called from the other dropdown menu next to it (the Axis Commands should have a different colour than other options I think). Look for Collective (because in a helicopter you control the Collective with your joysticks throttle) and in the column of your joystick, assign (map) it to your IRL joystick throttle. There is a wealth of information available on this and similar topics on the forum. I really advice you to read around, check the FAQ etc. I'll try to find my very very old post with a profile for just your joystick that I posted in case you're having trouble getting it to work. edit: Here it is: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=619181&postcount=5 -
How to deactivate after accidentally deleting the installed game?
Boulund replied to Have's topic in Payment and Activation
I figure that if you've done no hardware modifications at all to your computer since your unfortunate "uninstall" you should be able to reinstall in XP and deactivate, uninstall from XP and the go to win7 and install it there, activate and not lose an activation. Correct me if i'm wrong? -

Of course, you are correct and I misread. My mistake. :) -

I think you could just reinstall again without loosing either deactivation or activation. Edit: If your Black Shark installation was done back in XP, this method will NOT work for you. -
Nice! You're not alone, at times it feels I'm in a crash-simulator more than a flight one =D

Haha. This really shows that it is the rotor disc flying and you're only along for the ride =) Looks very neat though, I'd love one. Do I need a permit?

Let's play around with the purely hypothetical unreal scenario with infinite acceleration and decelration and a guesstimate of say, 8 sec take-off and 15 sec final landing until stopped. In the game editor the distance is almost 30km and the top speed of a Su-27 with barely no fuel at all is somewhere around 1460 km/h @ 50 meters. That would give something like: (30 / 1460) * 60 * 60 ~= 74 sec for each leg. Flying there and back would thus be around 148 sec. Let's add 8 sec take-off, 15 sec final landing, and, say ~20sec for the slowdown and touch-n-go ? Now where at approx 148+8+15+20 = 190. Then let's add another 10 just to get an even number and we're at 200 seconds, this is equal to 3.33min. But now we assumed infinite acceleration and deceleration which maybe adds another ~30% to the time for flying there and back (completely taken out of the blue), giving us approx 148*1.30 = 192.4 seconds for the flying. Then adding back in the take-off, touch-n-go and landing we get ~235.4 sec ~= 3.92 minutes (3min55sec). This sounds reasonable eh? Anyway, I'm currently sniffing around the 4.00 area... Gl all!
