I made an album with some pictures of my FreeTrack 3-point cap. http://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=315 If anyone is interested. There is even a circuit diagram ;)

very nice! thank you and a happy new year to you all

I think I have my recenter mapped to something like Ctrl+Shift+F12. It works very good.

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Boulund replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for finally saying out loud what I was trying to hint the last few posts =D -
The next-to-perfect forum manners displayed by our new friend StrongHarm is an inspiration to us all, good read-up on information in the forum, a specific and well thought out question and finishing it off with saying "hey, I got your help and it worked, thanks". Topping that with editing the first post to point to the answer displaying the solution to the problem is why I think everyone should rep this guy right now =)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?

I was more thinking it looks like it could very well be from DCS... ? -
It would be interesting to know where everyone put their GodMode-folder? I put mine on the desktop =)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?

I'd love to have this thing on my desktop but I've a feeling it's not going to happend in several years. When will the pricing be revealed? And why isn't thrustmaster showing this in their booth at CES? It says on their homepage that they're there anyway. @Sokol: I'm not sure whether it will have twist rudder - probably not considering that they're going for "as real as it gets". That's a shame because now I'd have to buy some pedals as well - sum going in the wrong way =D -
Great to hear =) I love it when you feel good playing online, that's how it's supposed to be!

I can't help but noticing, both in that video and in previously released screen shots, that the HUD of the A-10C looks a lot better than the one in Black Shark. Obviously EvilBivol wanted us to find out that there is a cockpit/button trainer feature in the new sim with his hints about new year's eggs and whistling about. ;)

I feel there is some misinformation about BS controls
Boulund replied to DaveRindner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
There was a sound added in the patch that is supposed to be very audible even in real life when you press/release the trimmer button edit: too late ;) -
This is derailing the thread so hard I know... :smilewink: Reading up on the specifications on nVidia's homepage reveals that the difference between the cards most probably responsible for your observed performance differences stem from slightly higher clocks on the "newer" cards (equally reachable through overclocking the card on your own) as well as a handful more shader cores (nothing you can change on your own though, and nVidia likes to call them "CUDA Cores" nowadays). I see the GTS250 has got 128 cuda cores against the 112 found on the earlier 8800 and 9800 models - noteworthy is that 8800 GTX introduced 128 cores (8800 GT has only 112 cores and 8800 GTS (the old G80-GPU) has a mere 96).

In the pictures released of DCS Warthog - does anyone else notice the strange yellow/orangeish markers in the screenshots? As if they are there to guide you to what switch/button to flip/press in the startup sequence? It's especially visible in the right of the two screenshots in this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=806074&postcount=2 Like: start the right boost pump

Being a hobby hunter myself I'd probably go for the hunting gear, and if you really want to you can build your own FreeTrack headtracker to play around with before going for the real deal (Naturalpoint TrackIR). Regardless, hunting is fun - but so is flying with a headtracker =) Maybe you should try to find a used TrackIR 3 with vector expansion or a TrackIR 4. Spending all that dough on a brand new TrackIR 5 might be unecessary.

Slightly off topic: This is actually a really interesting thing to note that here nVidia's marketing really works. Slapping a new name on what's essentially the same card makes people go nuts. I believe that the 8800-series (G92) must have been the most rebranded line of GPUs ever. It's totally true what you're saying, 8800, 9800 and gts250 are in effect the exact same card. This will surely be why isoul's testing gave no differences.

Aha.. I never restarted while my GodMode-folder was there - that might be a reason to still stay cautious =)

Same here, I'm on 64bit and it works perfectly although I don't see the need for it. Nothing in there that I couldn't find anywhere else, and especially nothing in there that I use oftenly.

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Boulund replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
no hard feelings  regarding the new ad: this is looking Suh-WEEET! Gonna be costly I tell ya. Aren't Thrustmaster at CES showing off this thing??? Edit: I've upped my picture extracting skills, voilá! Edit2: I've resnatched the pictures from the first ad as well. Anyone notice anything familiar with the A-10 picture? Also on another note; why does the close-up of the throttle say "LAPS" in the latest ad and not FLAPS as in the first? -
This is no longer needed since the patch. The patch fixed the issue where the game wouldn't be given affinity to all available cores upon startup. Reiterating what several others have said before me: * You get "low" fps because DCS is not able to fully utilize several cores, BUT operating systems like Windows 7 or vista affects the core load-balancing and thus improves performance over operating systems without such features (e.g. Windows XP) * The graphics cards you're using are kind of relaxing when playing Black Shark because there is very little graphics lull going on - hence the low temperatures. * What you can do to improve performance is to lower some settings - especially water. There is a configuration file: ...\BlackShark\Config\graphics.cfg where on line 149 you find (it is VERY IMPORTANT that you use a good editor for this, e.g. Notepad++ (do NOT use windows built it notepad program)) WaterQuality = 0; Setting the water quality to 0 massively improves your frame rate, because of an inefficient implementation of the calculation of the water surface in the game engine. Searching for posts in the forum will help you find even more performance hints as several others of us here have all been through this process :) Welcome and have fun

It was the best part of simulation-related equipment I ever got and couldn't play games without it anymore. I'd rather be without joystick.

Did you look at the FAQ? http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=575584&postcount=37 Maybe not all answers but a good start perhaps.

I feel there is some misinformation about BS controls
Boulund replied to DaveRindner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm not sure I agree with you. I've flown Black Shark with both a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and for the last half year with a X52 Pro. 1. The helicopter is actually really stable by itself and requires very little, if any, pedal input to hold heading - of course it is somewhat sensitive to wind but that's how it works. 2. AMAZING turn performance imo, both left and right. Especially during pedal input at high forward speeds. 3. Your description sounds like bad practice on your part. I must say that the trim system (trims not only cyclic but also pedals, plus that it directs the auto-pilots to what attitude, altitude and heading you want to hold) is very good - even with my Extreme 3D Pro or X52 Pro I'm having no trouble at all. Remember to use Right Ctrl+Enter to see where you trimmed your controls? 4. Not sure about this one, but it wouldn't seem very strange that it can experience VRS because of the design, it's kind of inherent to this rotors-on-top design ;). The solution isn't the best but never get into it at low altitude and then you're fine =) 5. During a hover you stress the engines a lot more than during normal flight, it's more a helicopter design problem that the EEG's can't maintain rotor RPM, rather than some fault with the simulator. But I'm not sure on this one. It would be interesting to know what data you're referring to? 6. With proper handling the Black Shark can go a lot faster than 300 kph without rotor disc intersection. I feel that maybe Vne should be set at something around 320 kph. This is most definitely a handling issue on your part. I'm sure several others with me can agree on that. Avoid right rudder during high speed flight and make sure to always give her the smooth treatment. Also this is dependant on the weather conditions during flight. On your stick note, I'm sure X52 Pro is not the best choice, but in my opinion it is a very good HOTAS for this simulator. Hopefully someone else will come and join me to help you tackle the issues you are experiencing. -
What's really interesting is that in Avatar (just saw it) the helicopter-thingys have contra rotating, co-axial rotor systems within their ducts (admittedly thin rotor packages). The word 'why' springs to mind. ? Anyone with insight other than it looks cool? ;)
