Waiting for the A10 as much as I do?
Boulund replied to Feuerfalke's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Very nice! I'll add it to my desktop rotation this instant. -
Maybe it is because of the new trimmer implementation? If you haven't changed the settings from the default since the patch the trimmer now works so that you have "unlimited" to reset controls to neutral after trimming, instead of the previous ½-second timer. This now gives the effect that if you do not reset your controller correctly, you have no control at all until it is.

Even the pros put their blades together
Boulund replied to wickedpenguin's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I kind of agree with the second quote. It is actually strange that the Kamov desingers allow blade clashes to happen so easy. It is evident that even the most trained and experienced heli pilot can enter this flight regime even during practice, which is something that clearly should not happened. Of course I can agree that blade clashing for us flight-simmers is OK, but for it to happen in real life is not ok. ? edit: as I read through my post I find it hard to understand wth I was intending to say with this post... I'll just leave it like it is in case someone understands it anyway. I guess it didn't add very much to the thread anyway ;) -
I've played it for several hours now and I must say I'm really enjoying it! I'm kind of getting good old Ghost Recon-feelings mixed with a little Delta Force sprinkled with imo a good blend of graphics. Admittedly, some things are a bit awkward (I won't be ranting here though!! ;)) but as a whole, both in SP and multiplayer (both coop campaign and the other modes) it is actually a lot of fun! Well worth the very modest sum of 250kr shipped to my door from the UK (I live in Sweden). It's out and about in Sweden for about 340-400kr so play.com really made this worth it! I can concur with you shamandgg about the hamachi play, VPN-LAN play with your friends is in fact better than going online with your friends. Though I use Leaf but same thing none-the-less. All in all, I'm very pleased. Someone should start cranking out nice coop-missions in the so far lovely editor (I'm too busy doing what ever it is that I'm doing) so me and my friends can get some more coop on. The AI in coop so far has been very pleasing, making nice flanking manouvers and not being the stupid/retarted AI we have all learnt to expect.

I guess "no news" means just that... I still think it's more fun with all the suspense and speculation (but not on-forum speculation - it always goes haywire, just in-mind speculation ;))

Yeah. I'm of the idea that there might be some initial propulsion to get them out of the launch tube, but then the side-vents propel the rocket and navigation (spiraling) is done with the use of small control vanes/fins on the rocket ? Then I guess the targeting is very much like the swedish army's Robot70 (RBS70) laser beam riding AA-system. Interesting topic!

bad graphic in the cockpit(black shark)?
Boulund replied to wolf_288's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
A true team effort! =D Soo wolf, how are the tips working for you? Need any more help? I've been investigating cockpit texture resolutions and problems in depth as many other forum members. We're all here, eager to help! -
bad graphic in the cockpit(black shark)?
Boulund replied to wolf_288's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
In my feeble attempt, I believe that it just what I was trying to convey. Thanks! =) -
bad graphic in the cockpit(black shark)?
Boulund replied to wolf_288's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You are aware that to get the high resolution cockpit textures you have to set textures to high, not just the "Resolution of cockpit displays" or whatever it's called... ? -
Very nice little writeup! Thanks

This is looking too nice. Strange thing is that it's 30% cheaper to buy from the UK and have it shipped over here to Sweden than it is to buy it in Sweden in the first place... I guess I'll make my buying decisions when you guys come back here with lots to tell=)

It's great to have more flyables, but I can't really say I've managed to fly all the other ones yet though... Great for me that the game has such a long life span so that I can try all the planes at least once ;)
-
Great, thanks for the info anyway! Nice with a patch for this game none-the-less. (hey who am I to say this, haven't noticed anything that needed fixing... :hmm: )
-
Yeah that would have been nice. I mean, the 6DOF mod really makes the game shine! ... Still no one that knows if it works / how to make it work with 4.09?
-
In my extreme lazyness to insert the DVD all the time I can tell you that the old crack works perfectly alright. Maybe I shouldn't say this out loud? Please inform me if that is the case and I'll reshape the post into something else =) One thing I'm curious to know is whether the 6DOF mod works? Not really interested in testing it myself though now that I finally got the patch working =)

The future of DCS: Paralel computing on GPU's?
Boulund replied to Pilotasso's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Because they generally don't need to use the GPU because there are no eye-candy-stuff-calculations going on? Most calculations are for the simulation of flight, isn't much room left for graphics I think =) -
The future of DCS: Paralel computing on GPU's?
Boulund replied to Pilotasso's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Multiprocessing solutions can surely benefit a lot of things in scientific calculations, but I reckon a lot of games won't in fact gain the miracle boost everyone is dreaming of. This is just a link to something that will get you thinking about that it isn't all gold just because it's "multiprocessor" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amdahl's_law A whole lot of things are just not parallelizable like we want them to =D I've played around a bit with Jacket/CUDA in MATLAB to test things in a program I was involved in earlier and it would have achieved great speed-ups via parallel processing but unfortunately GPUs are not the omni-capable processing units that regular CPUs are. There where several operations performed in our program that were impossible to perform on the GPU, preventing full scale parallelization and thus great great performance increases. But hey who knows, maybe this fermi thing is just what everyone needs to get going? ;) Looking forward to the future -
I'd first like to tell you that I haven't got a clue about anything in this matter. =) Then I'd like to guess that if you cover the small dead-mans optical sensor with tape it might make it better? Taken from this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45155

Try lowering your water detail. You won't see much of the water in the mountains anyway! =) There is a tweak to entirely disable water rendering effects which GREATLY improve fps. You should try search the forum for it if you're interested.

Dumb Question: How to take screenshots?
Boulund replied to Doc. Caliban's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It's also possible to install the game to another directory outside of C:\Program Files\ to never be bothered by this. At least that's what I did and it works very good. -
Not to be like that but from the imagery and the text it seems more like you're not supposed to change your posture to remain upright but stay with your spinal axis in the planes vertical axis. Looking at the pictures on the same page about parallax error the head is actually tilted to keep horisontal. ? I've noticed this tendancy in me as well when playing with headtracking. It's not always that I like to keep my head aligned with the horisont but only sometimes. Never really thought about why ...

I always feel it is very hard to adapt to someone else's profile and always ends up doing my own thing in the end anyway. In case you're not like me I've got my profile attached. I wanted to start out with "as real as possible" layout on the stick. Then added and changed stuff around to find a computer sim more than a real chopper. In the end it's probably gotten very wierd and all, but I grew fond of it and am sticking to it =) DCS BlackShark.rar

That is in fact a great idea. I've lost several activations to hardware changes but never once been informed why. Unfortunately I've got the feeling that if you try to start the application once with too much hardware changes it lost right there and then, regardless if you try to change your hardware back the way it was. Not entirely sure on this one as I haven't really done any real testing of this (who's up for the task of losing all their activations? ;))
-
I guess you didn't read Tez's post? I've never gotten a deactivation code when deactivation either. But counting my activations I still got the same number of them when I activated the next time.
