  1. Yes, i have done this often to just make one binding to the new blank controller. This creates the diff.lua with the new uuid. I then copy that new uuid onto the old file and presto my bindings are back. You can repeat this for other modules. I do suggest doing a reboot after connecting your devices. I performed this for my mfd's (I have two sets of cougars so four total) and renamed them as described. Then after a reboot they wonky again so had to switch them around. It's not that they where blank it sort missed between my first set left with the second sets left.
  2. Anything is possible. But I find the frame rate post 2.5.6 pretty much on par with 2.5.5 if I account for no longer running the vr shader mod. I did after updating wipe all shader caches, delete all shaders I applied with the shaders mod, and ran a dcs repair this includes all the map specific shaders as when you setup VR shader mod. And haven't really had any problems with 2.5.6 at all, although I was unable to play until they had dropped a few of the hotfixes.
  3. Sounds more like you have something wonky going on with your setup, I'd start disconnecting the one you are not using, including shutting down any running services for it. Again ED has no business to recognise any one headset, their job is to communicate with the API's that the HMD developer manufacture and expose to the software. It is simply Oculus's business to do wireless Quest. They have been asked this thousands of times, and their response is " The latency is to high and far to complicated to be natively supported, end of discussion"
  4. Copy the shortcut for DCS, and in the 'Target' field, add " -force_disable VR " It seems like a VR service is still running, If you manage to uninstall all software related to HMD including steamvr, it should default back to regular.
  5. ED has nothing to do with this. The hackaround steamVR wireless solution is lacking in many things, primarily, latency 100ms latency was about as good as it would get, many who tested had 300ms or more, and for VR where 20ms is considered less than good, 300ms is beyond bad. I agree with Oculus that supporting wireless connection is not a good idea, this is why they designed the link option, which also require that you don't buy a second 5ghz router to use it. You can run the hacked wireless quest option still and just run DCS that way. ED is only responsible to connect the exposed end of VR, Oculus, Valve etc are the ones responsible for handling the rest.
  6. Think this was mentioned in Jabbers, or some other video. But from there it was said that there is no policy on angle of sweep, it's just often more stable airframe with the wings swept back and this is the method taught to new pilots. Once they'd build up experience they just leave the wings in auto if they prefer. In short, pilot preference.
  7. I personally would just recommend getting a large 1440p monitor over a tv. Much easier to run on a GPU as well, compared to 2160p. And the extra resolution between a 1080p and 1440p is quite large, much more so than 1440p to 2160p. Plenty of those in around 30" or so, and you mount it closer to get similar fov. If you want more sense of scale, nothing beats VR. If you want a TV still, shop around for one that doesn't seem to bad when upscaling from 1080p, 4k is not something I'd recommend on anything less than a 1080ti/2070s. I never bothered running more than 1080p to my TV, my avr isn't quite capable to pass 4k@60 and I see no point in routing around it for playing lazy-couch games. It's not a speed monster, far from it so around 30ms or so in latency. As for the Samsung motion rate, that's how often the panel refresh internally, but it only takes a 60hz input signal I'm sure. This isn't a bad thing since in the lower price ranges you often see TV's with just a 50hz panel, but their video processor still take a 60hz signal. But if you feed these panels a proper 60 fps image the internal processing and panel can't keep up and you get tearing and artefacting even with v-sync on.
  8. Don't even need 1:1 positioning, just mount it in a manner that is secured and your own muscle memory will set in after a week of use or less.
  9. I suspect less than 10% of actual players frequent these boards or reddit etc in total.
  10. But that woudn't be VR apparently.
  11. Yeah I believe they are working on dedicated button panelsl, probably a bit more expensive all together, but with more functions in total. https://virpil.com/en/blog/173-control-panel-competition-results?tmpl=component
  12. Those I know who has bought a t16000 usually has the yaw twist axis break after 10-15 months like clockwork. Ch isn't what they used to be, mine was a mess of pot spikes and intermittently working buttons since they came out of the box. If you want real reliability you'll unfortunately be looking to Vkb or Virpil, I went with virpil mostly due to stock issues vkb was never actually available to buy out of the European store for ages. I went with virpil and MFG crosswind and have no regrets after almost two years of use, I never needed to even calibrate the crosswinds and the virpil only when updating firmware or changing cams. The ch needed recalibrating at least once a week sometimes more due to drift or just wonkyness. But yeah, vkb or Virpil are crazy bananas expensive and to spend this much you need to have lost your marbles a bit. The vkb gladiator is a better option perhaps, or just jump in on something but from a store with an open return policy.
  13. Oooh that's nice.
  14. I figure it could go the other way as well, doing it in the easiest, which is still plenty difficult, could give you that needed encouragement as well give you the "feeling" of what it's like in doing it right. Then you can add your less stable aircraft later for increased difficulty.
  15. I'm running a rift-s on 1080ti at 1.2 pd and MSAA 2x and DCS takes at least 10.1GB VRAM at all times. Unlike most other normal games that usually stay under half that. The 2070 is good no doubt, but I'm not switching yet, besides I'm certain there will be 30 series soon.
  16. If you are going virpil kit in a few months it might be a boring suggestion but why not try and save up the extra and get the one with the toe-brakes. Shipping cost from virpil might be a bit of a pain or at least expensive depending on your location and particularly for the Americas. That said I still hold that the toe brakes aren't super necessary, unless you fly ww2 tail draggers, and taxiing long distances. For the modern jets any keybind really could easily sort this, and the virpil have a brake lever on the stick like on Russian aircraft.
  17. Or a C-2 Greyhound would fit rather nicely for those who enjoys the Supercarrier.
  18. SSD's have nose dived in price the last few months, you can now get a TB drive for what a 512GB cost a year ago, and 512 for what a 256 would cost. Still NVME's are twice the price of a SATA drive, but also 6x faster.
  19. In total, I'm at 15 USB devices, that I can think of at once, but 8 are showing up in DCS as configurable, the rest is the likes of headphones, the rift-s, keyboards and mice, and the boom mic. I think you should be ok, from what I gather the first thing to cause issues is if your devices run low on power something a powered hub should take care of np. So far my main devices is the: Crosswinds, the t50 throttle, t50 gimbal, and warbrd lefty stick, and two sets of cougar MFD's. Granted I don't use the lefty stick in DCS, and might honestly consider not bringing it over to my "three years and counting" pit build.
  20. In my experience 99% of the problems people have with windows 10 come from all the shit they do trying to avoid updates or paranoid counter surveillance bullshit. First question would be if you are running an overclock. You can run an OC without issue for weeks, then update a driver and presto BSOD. Before install disconnect USB devices, especially the rift. If that fails do a clean install, download the windows media creation tool and make a bootable USB medium and a clean wipe of system drive. Being happy running windows 7 now is like saying your happy with gout, you don't really need that right foot for walking or anything.
  21. This is hands down the best motion system I have seen. Can only describe it as utter genius. Small footprint, sustained pressure, and comparatively quiet operstion. Not entirely sure I could wrangle being a 1 day buyer but I wish I could.
  22. I bought mine with paypal, same as all the modules I have bought.
  23. I'm no subject matter expert but from what I gather: fighters in general, like the f18 is unstable by design. And it uses far more control surface's than what is present on your average Cessna and these aren't connected in a uniform manner either and are constantly moving and shifting sperate from each other a couple of times every second. The computer is what controls this, and if it and the backup computer fails the standing order is that it's time to go for a walk. I honestly don't think the f18 even have "flaps" in a standard manner but that this instead is to be considered a mode setting for the FCS to adjust and control all relevant surface's for a certain low speed AOA approach.
  24. Heh I wasn't even flight simming when I switched from CH to a virpil setup. It actually started with the pedals after a buddy ordered a set I kinda needed a pair, and this spurred me on to try cleaning my CH that ended up breaking one of my toe brakes. At that time I was pretty much only playing Elite dangerous, first time I had a stick since descent, wing commander etc. The new pedals though was a massive upgrade, so much so that next month I ordered a virpil t50 stick. I had spent over $800 on kit before I even downloaded DCS, and had yet to get the throttle, which I did promptly a few months later, I believe I was on the first or second batch of regular orders of the t50 throttle. I'm still far from a 'good pilot's heck I have now been playing DCS for over a year and I have yet to barely engage in hornet bvr/bfm
