  1. ok here is a track ive just made on our server showing relativly smooth take off and landing, [ATTACH]66711[/ATTACH] posting live vid of it to YT also. but that`ll take a while.
  2. ofcourse. would this video be good with the rudder function locked out or not ? x52 pro has a lock mechanism u see ! i thought it would be an idea to use it to prove minimal rudder usage is required. but after previewing the video i think it might be seen as an aid etc which it is not. but before i finalise this, i thought id ask,
  3. yep coming soon. just did one, very happy with the lack of rudder usage, however im going to re do it as the problems im having with trackir and this extra ordinary sunny weather here in blackpool.... stay tuned. i might even do a commentated video for youtube ...

  5. i dont use any rudder other than trimmed rudder (3-4 degrees) on take off. and i lock my rudder on the x52pro to ensure no major mistakes. rudder control is minimal if anything on takeoff without wind.
  6. re the visual cues......i discovered this through attempting to land at night. and before i really mastered taking off, and since then my approach to the learning the plane radicaly changed into letting the plane do the work, the very stubborn plane that requires this tame approach to its procedures without forcing the issue. i think this aspect is very important. or atleast it was to me and allowed me to throw away everything id learned in every other sim. and just try feel what the plane wants via its fm. i had all these comments initially about the bird but it just fell into place. whilst nothing you read here is actually science of physics fm and ground haldning. once you feel what the plane wants to do you can feel what it wont do....and no amount of visual dynamics can interpret that.
  7. this is the character of the plane. everyone who set out to learn the p51 went through this initially. shocked by the torque effects. 4 degrees of rudder trim is alot imo but essential to combat the torque. i also think taking off with full power causes the propwash to be way to powerfull to the extent the tail will just not come up smoothly, instead the bird goes for takeoff and if in that situation yes all hell breaks loose. ive no idea about real flight physics but things seem good to me. very happy with the character of the plane. however wrong it maybe ! and no amount of virtual flight expereince prepared anyone for what to expect from ed regarding propellor driven aircraft and their real character attributes..... or did i miss a sim platform somewhere that got close....
  8. upon starting the bird with throttle fully forward "accidentally" also seems to break the rpm guage.

  11. im in the uk. so whats that about 2 am for me ? id say i got about 2 hours in me after that, once maybe twice a week.

  14. i got these oily scales, like the "silver kings" (Tarpon) that keep me striving to produce the perfect skin ! lol no magic here just science. rub rub.
  15. updated our facebook page with some tid bits thought a few here might be interested testing our livery, all work in progress with many glaring errors, the skin is secondary to what im trying to get right at all times of day but is required as these birds look rather bland without much on them, Also for these metallics i have a new hlsl file (shader functions) that is work in progress specificallly for these effects. and balanced with the texture effects i create.   16. testing from this evening. going well ! asides the initall placement of the spirit logo, nice petrol stain though ! didnt think to capture logo later on... doh.
  17. it does affect the power range of what the skin artists have to play with on any other than super spec, bar movie maker spec variant.
  18. many hours of editing getting materials correct. removing what i dont like in order to bring out the detail and clean modern look in particular. also im going to rely on normal map and spec integration more on a more subtle scale. when u see the riveted areas glistening at that special angle its just fab. ive a little easter egg too for the exhaust ports. the coloured oil that glistens like petrol just after the pipes like petrol {is it petrol i duno} ? just need to promounce it more on sha shaders! and capture it during the day,
  19. well many hours later im really refining my styles here, got gloss going well and starting the redtails skin, early stages, but i discovered that really getting into the shader layers in absolute detail is a must, 8 hours i been on this, goin over and over every template ith changes. managed to get the noon balance well too. whilst im hovering at lovely angles here iam emphasising mostly the dynmaics. perfecting the shiiiiineeeee ! takes ages. some dusk shots 80:30 too. once i get the math fully down applying to skin will be great. even the painted effect ones. ooooooo ooooooooo oooooooo ooooooooo glossy red paint. glossy red paint.
  20. mmm, that instruction would not equate to the psd file from the plane in the video. that would pertain to rocks own graphics work.
  21. cant remeber, the file doesnt use transparency or i had some transparency issues with it, crudely implemented texture imo, it was simply a play around that got left in. horsemen and i wanted a more apparent feel for the prop so i was ensuring a full ring was visible for the yellow tips and playing around with different style of prop animation where the blurring was concerned just to make it feel more alive, which isnt actually realstic by live viewing but for camera viewing it is a little more apparent in theory given exposure times etc.

  23. i know that too rock, you cant be part of a painters network and do this, well you can but really who would you be if thats the case. i dont believe you are that guy. and im ok with it being a really big misunderstanding. as it appears thats what it is.
  24. ive read your post rock. listen please. i didnt expect this. i came home after being at a police station reporting the near death of myself by a stupid motorist. it left me quite angry... my first intention was to make my thread on the modding section. so i did that and then naturally came to find that you had done it yourself. you were eager to get the work, i was eager to give it. to show im worthy of helping you guys out. in no way did i expect you to go post the work I had done and delivered to you. when did all the chat about the videos we wanted to do to show it off go pear shaped, u said skyhawk was going to get it together regards those. and i have not stooped so low as to swear at anyone so what you talkin about swearing ? im entitled to my opinion and entitled to post it publicy given what you have posted publicly. it really is a great misunderstanding that has left me quite bitter. but why is it such a misunderstanding ? this fault is not on my part. That is yours, can we fix the issue ? get on the same page ? ensure it doesnt happen again. or u got your skin now-that you offski?
