  1. can anyone explain the funding behind pcars ? i find it rather ironic that a group of developers frequently published by EA go to start a kickstarter-esque system to raise cash for development to then get publishing rights aquired by EA. seems a little strange to me but maybe someone can explain my question. another question i have is that of Origins! and wether pCars will be an origin's platform based product ?
  2. i`d say its more the restriction on camera tilt angle that leaves us playing in sattelite view often, but i do pop down close alot. morale is featured. units routing etc etc.I believe the basis of the morale is pretty unique really quite deep in terms of its functionality and it ensures unit supporting roles are part of the strategy equation. The situation will dictate just how scared your troops get. also the morale system was re worked in the last patch. another patch due this week to fix a few bugs that crept in to last weeks patch and DLC regards how supply functions. and thats another area like the morale system that is quite hard to get your head round and also leads to the appearance of simplicity when in fact the systems they have modelled far deeper than in most real time strategy games and unfortunatly just not appearing so
  3. sitting patiently awaiting my download, cant wait for coop play, oooyeah ! edit: last min delays, tommor night it comes, ohh and alongside the free dlc you can purchase the game on special offer on steam from tommorow too !. cheap goodness.
  4. the hardcore milsim specialist will probally be underwhelmed in this. also the devs dont seem to want to go down the ultra realism route either. but i do get the feeling they want to lay this base down and let those that do want ultra realism to inject that via modding and such. i think its very possible it will turn towards a more overwhelming milsim thing if the right people are attracted. graphically this can go further, its a unity 3d based project and well given that, its presently underwhelming but its got potential there too. unity3d can be gorge !
  5. yes that was lame. apologies for not looking first.
  6. bought and played a fair bit, its really quite intricate. someone with a good grasp of weapon technology and its implementation to the strategy is going to love this. long and far between naval sim titles are in any form. these devs are cool and need support. and whats more most folks here will seriously love this gem of a title. awesome. buy buy buy.
  7. i tihnk thats a safe conclusion from what i just looked at on YT but without all the exciting airwaves chatter. not purchased it my self yet. One other interesting aspect is that its fully open to moddability. lots of xml. add units. script independant AI. .... £14.99 on steam and that includes a free copy of http://www.cota-game.com/ (commander:conquest of the americas)
  8. hmm. this is rather cool and worth a mention here. its not immediatly apparent how deep in strategy it is.

anyone on rfactor2 beta here ?
  11. From what i read recently and im sure it was a developer comment, They explained that the exploit has to be known before steam VAC can identify it and a ban would take 2 weeks.
  12. wrong, im very active over there and it really is not a problem. and for every cheater there is a replay upload function together with required details of player name and you can post it to a name and shame thread. It did work to cheat online untill the devs issued a super quick fix for it recently. why is it not a problem ? The cheaters and/or usage of the trainer to unlock units "quicker" can not defeat a decent armchair general. Throw 100 cheap tanks at anyone who knows how to play and as long as they identify the situation the cheater will loose in minuites. winning points are comprised of the spend points that the enemy unit cost. for example. cheating enemy puts 6000 points worth of units down on the map. with a 2000 point game settings and you have 3 times the chance of winning, by taking out 1/3 of his army. you are not cheating so you only got 2000 points of units. enemy would have to kill your whole army 100% to win/draw. sometimes spending less than your enemy is an advantage.( as long as you can keep that command veh alive) who da thought that?
  13. once you get your head around the fact that anything you attack the enemy with can easily be game winning points (unit price) for the enemy. it becomes apparent there are so many ways to play it out. i have gone to using the basic deck for some matches and find myself condiderably more competant using cheap low powered units that are actually expendable.
  14. IF i was an army general in times of world peace, I`d be playing WEE as consolation for all that wasted training. imho its all better. the differing aspects of RTS games and their profound wish to be unique in all the wrong ways annoys me, WEE is a solid RTS game without the frillybits and bells and whistles. featuring no hidden special gameplay mechanics or endgame inducing nonsense other than strategy.
  15. i Ali Fish aka Pixelchaser has invited you to become friends on wargame. (Anyone feel free to add me for some wargame) Friendly fair games at that without curse of the spammed units perferably.
  16. i was reffering to the never ending forms of counter strategies on offer that are all well balanced. there are soome deliberate imbalances though covering the nations individually. and faction wise PACT is quite a bit more basic than NATO in terms of multitides of unit abbilities. Which leaves units in the pact faction quite overpowered without using the crazy amount of combination counters on offer. yeh i get the same reminiscent memory too. but the trees dont blow up!!! you cant carve a path through the forrest. doh. ive been saying for a while that a sudden strike remake would be cool.
  17. too many games yeah, but this just leapt above everything else requiring attention and it will probally stay there for ages (untill better or similar is released) its got a balance to it that seems never ending in theory, its actually phenominal that they have created 361 RL relativly realistic units over 2 factions that actually play together well in a game format. in terms of scope too i reckon it beats SC2. the ranked number 1 player is this chap Tigga. heres his live stream. makes for better watching than my television does. http://www.livestream.com/tgapples getting a patch tonight to fix a few urgent issues, but what has been confirmed is comp stomp. thats coop v AI ! cant wait. modding tools also.
  18. <reports> this is without any doubt the best military orientated RTS made to date. Absolutely Fantastic in all areas. if your an RTS gamer, You all need this in your collection ! seriously.
  19. good vid showing you the ins and outs of the game. worth a watch as it explains indepth what this game is about.
  20. this needs some realistic weapon models, flight models, terrain physics. WEE is very much like the total war series in respect to its dynamics that ive mentioned. It is still very good though. but it needs that touch of mil-sim. i also think if we are to see anything of this ilk in future i must support there cause. if you can stand a more fluid modern total war-esque RTS game then this will suit. EDIT: i plucked up the courage to online last night and what an excellent nights rts activity it was. this RTS is exactly what i want ! hooked iam.
  21. indeed ! i dont let that worry me though as ill only really have private thoughtfull matches, same in starcraf 2 etc etc. in a certain sense SC2 may have just ensured all strategy games have an "APM" statistic if you know what i mean. the units take time to respond under your action given which doesnt really make any sense tbh, i cant see that this APM counter means too much.
  22. i bagged this. but too afriad to play the MP beta. Its the basic strategy game ive been waiting an age for. i once said i like this game `Ruse` lots of interesting aspect etc. love the grand battle Table idea. but gimme modern warfare, remove the army stacking and especially remove the stupid Ruse based gameplay and im sold. And by all accounts this is what they have done and a bunch more. A no brainer infact, which is why it now exists. no game is or has everything you want but WEE does have alot for me and ive been searching for along time. WiC was the last but just didnt cut it. It is very concise in presentation using realistic modern symbolisation as its basis to deliver information which is just brilliant. Graphics are splendid all though very basic. And playing it is rather straightforward compared to alot of other strat games, micro managing being my most hated attribute in strategy, WEE does alow it but also it does not depend on it by initial appearances. but i maybe wrong as theres an statistical entry for "Actions Per minuite"- ohh heck.
  23. hmm. p51.. got no clue what to think other than you guys have lost the plot somewhat. ill consider this product after you pull them fingers out and deliver me a printed a10 manual, certainly no interest before.
  24. yeah WTF is happening ? getting mighty sick of waiting for this. I just recieved some TFCED news letter today, without any information on the A10 printed manual which annoyed me somewhat. within that news letter i see a TFCED projection untill summer regards what will be happening, alas no mention of a manual. i wont be buying another TFCED product untill the manuals are out for them. And im not considering BS2, or anything from this group untill i get this a10 manual. yes its that important to me to have this printed manual ! So please stop with the new products and finish the previous ones please. yes i consider a10 incomplete in my collection. i was told this manual would be printed and sold. so WTF is happening ? im not cursed with the gota have the next new thing from ED ethos. but iam cursed with having to complete my a10 experience before i endulge further. i honestly thought that manual would have been completed. so TFCED if you want more from me you know what to do. yes my attitude is born from my disgust at the notion of payware BS2. and pay for integration between sims. and pay more for terrain i and many thought we were gettin anyway, (yes im a beta a10 user and get it free but thats not the point) the old road path for ED was quite different and seriously more appealing(for me) i know there are a great many explanations, its just that there spread far and wide over a great many posts. things used to be simple around here. not so anymore. rant on/ when will DCS a-10 2 rear its ugly head ? presumably after the next DCS,(DCS:NEXT PROJECT) module and after BS3 (basic patch to add workability with DCS:NEXT PROJECT. ohh and after Flipping Heck 4..... its gotten silly guys. or atleast you gotten me all silly. sorry folks. rant off/
  25. dont play it much anymore. but i do love a lap of the nordschleife every now and then (at night in the rain).
