Or similar algorithm like TrackIR where the actual movement of the pointer in the viewport is slightly faster than your head movement. Say 1.5:1, so when you look at your 90, the pointer is offset to about 135. Similar behavior as the little aiming crosshair in JHMCS/HMD of our Hornet.

Autostart on boat without lowering the wing As explained in this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=244313 AutoStart is a great feature that saves time even for a seasoned Hornet driver, allowing him/her to focus on preparing for the mission. However, lowering the wing while on boat in MP server could bring disaster to neighbouring flight given the close distance in between. Unfortunately, this does happen from time to time, especially on new hornet drivers. Since the AutoStart procedure does know whether the plane is on boat or land (set INS to CV or Field), I hope one day ED can alter the AS logic a little bit, preventing it from lowering the wing when the plane is on the boat... I hope it to be a relatively quick task by, maybe, cancelling a couple of line of script codes... Well, I could be wrong though. Anyway, please ED consider.

Though I'm fully capable of performing a complete manual startup procedure, the AutoStart is still a very nice feature which allows me to focus on preparing for the mission instead of fiddling around in the cockpit, given the limited time that I have for the sim. So yes, I use it very often. And I assume I'm not alone. However, when start up on the carrier, the autostart always unfold the wing, which could be a disaster in MP. My current work-around is either to avoid using autostart if I saw there's someone beside me, or still to use autostart while keep on staring at the wing folding switch to correct it as soon as the autostart procedure touches it. I keep on wondering though is there a better way to do this. Or shall I post this to the Wishlist subforum with the hope that ED can fine tune it a little bit one day... ps. I noticed that autostart on boat will set INS to CV for alignment, so the procedure does know whether the plane is on boat or land. Unfolding wing in that situation therefore seems incorrect then... strictly speaking...

It's really a noob question regarding squadron names, but...
ravenzino replied to ravenzino's topic in Squadron News
Ah, that simple... I must have been thinking too much then... Thanks mate. -
How all the squadrons got their names, especially those numbers? 104, 107, 113, etc... is there a numbering scheme that everyone follows? Does each digit of the number carry any specific meaning? With my limited knowledge, I assume IRL, the Air Force Commander (or Secretary, or whoever represents the top level of the Force) assigns the number to each Air Wing. But apparently in SIM world, there isn't such body in charge of assigning and record-keeping those numbers, so......

Just for the record, what the signboard says is: (Those who) steal the secrets will certainly be caught; when caught, death penalty applies. Most likely be seen at military facilities or relevant sensitive research institutes in mainland China some 30-50 years ago... Probably a bit of OT here, but the interesting thing is, the way it mentions death penalty is literally "Decapitation", which is inherit from ancient China as a slang of today's death penalty with added sense of cruelty for deterrence. But this is still considered as a very brutal and inaccurate word when used in formal occasion, so it could be very rare to seen today if nonexistence at all. I'd say it probably won't exist after 2000 if not earlier. And it uses Simplified Chinese in horizontal order (left to right), so definitely after 1956. So, this signboard could only exist between some 1960 to 2000. Whoever designed this did a good job in putting it in a very specific time period of history.

A hanger full of my purchased aircrafts?
ravenzino replied to ravenzino's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Performance concern can be addressed by making it as an option. And it doesn't have to be the main menu if that's of too much trouble. It can be a separate page from a main menu entry. As long as it is nice looking and neat. If you actually think about it, all the function blocks are more or less already there. We already have a VR hangar and the in-game encyclopedia both of which in essence are simplified renders; we've got ME which is exactly an editor. The rest work is mainly about integrating them together, tailor it down and putting necessary restrictions on it so it can be kept light and nice looking. Or the worst case is to provide a preset scene and fixed location in the hangar for each of the aircrafts so as to maximize the optimization of performance and visual effects, but users won't be able to do any editing, which, as a start, is still quite compelling. The primary purpose is to allow people to exhibit their collection, to admire or even worship... :D Imagine you have a friend visit and you wanted to quickly show your friend all the nice jets and liveries you've been collecting... I know there could be work-around like using existing ME to put together an "air show" mission, but then you'll have to load the mission and tune the camera and etc etc. A quick and simple "My Hangar" could be much fluent and well optimized for people to enjoy, and show off in the community if someone wishes to... :D Community mod is another approach, but has its limitations. The visual quality and optimization won't be as good as ED's work. And it would be sort of pity if ED's Fighter Collection needs to be demonstrated via a mod...... Talking about business, what's in it for ED? 1. Players are more happy and proud as DCS will now become a showable "Fighter Collection". 2. One more good reason for players' to purchase/collect more modules, even if they don't fly it often, which means cash for ED. 3. Someone might disagree with this, but personally I don't really mind if ED makes this cosmetic feature as a module or part of a pro-version and charge it for some small bucks. I was always wanted to buy those 1/72 or 1/48 plastic fighter models but worried about the mess of paints, decals and relevant tools. I guess having a exhibition hangar partially fulfill some similar desires, more or less. -

Experienced the same situation when in the "Cold and Dark" instant action, where there are Hornets parking at each side of me...

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3735513&postcount=178 Reading through the above weekend news back in the end of 2018, especially the words above, an wonderful idea struck me: How amazing would it be if we could have a giant hanger where we can place our purchased aircrafts in it? In 3D of course, and ideally allows to place weapons and other in-game stuffs as well. It could be implemented either as a separate page/feature, or as a replacement of the current static main menu page, gives it a much more vivid look and a lot of fun even just to fiddle around with it. A giant exhibition hanger full of my purchased aircrafts, sounds quite rewarding. After all, it is "Fighter Collection", isn't it? :D Something like this: In future, if possible, it can further evolved to some sort of ingame lobby place probably, where chit-chat or even some serious mission briefing happens. My dear ED, please consider~

Experiencing the same issue here. It looks like the INS problem. However, I still can't find any work around so far. Tried to reset the INS, allow it a couple of minutes to realign. Unlike in the other missions or MP server, the same trick doesn't quite work here. Hope ED can fix this soon. Done this campaign a while ago. Due to recent upgrade/reinstallation, its progress got rest, which gives me a nice chance to redo the campaign, and see how much I've improved since then... oh well, guess I'll have to wait for a while...

I just experienced the same problem on GAW MP server: Setup 2 PP missions/targets, release the first JSOW, then all the PP missions are crossed off...

Aha, so this is the reason why the update is still AWOL... :megalol:

It would be great if ED can model it once in terms of all the interactions and systems, but provide multiple liveries that covers the entire Nimitz class carriers, so it'll allow to create a massive scale naval operation, which could be very cool. Understand that would involve some detail change in the physical model of the carrier, but I guess that would be manageable. Worst case is still treat each carrier as individual, but use the same set of systems.

I'm in Melbourne, using NBN via MyRepublic. Noticed no issue when login into DCS and MP servers. It looks more like a network/routing thing instead of a server or game feature problem, especially if you can get it through via VPN. Might worth to drop a call to iinet about this. There's no update so far this week btw.
