The cockpit looks quite nice! :) I hope it's not a huge performance hog by the time of release.

There are logistic roles in combat missions that cannot be manned by players yet. These can be filled with interesting unarmed aircraft like the Mi-6. Also logistic units are requested by people who don't sound like they're very civilian focused. And there could be all kinds of interesting mixed scenarios. https://aviationanalyst.co.uk/2018/12/14/norwegian-air-boeing-737max-8-stuck-in-iran/

One idea could be for Razbam to organize a training event/stream while we are waiting for the fixed harrier with the updated manual.

How many aircraft right now offer a functional multicrew? It's a feature that has certain demand in the regular multiplayer scene. One way to look at it: it's a training path to the Tomcat :smilewink:

If real world manufacturers made gaming gear

Some friends of mine are drooling after 2nd hand switches from the real Su-27 to install into their cockpit... -
Got mine recently and have been able to do a few flights now. For some strange reason I end up flying the Kamov all the time now... MFG is quite responsive if you have questions, shipping was a bit slow after payment, I guess don't go ordering at the verge of the holiday shopping season if you're in a hurry :smilewink: Other than that how Milan operates the business seems very professional: there's a date published several weeks in advance for when your bill will arrive if you order today and so on. A little different from some other well known brands of top of the line sim controllers :music_whistling: Pretty much my overall first impression. Quite accurate controller, should still make a re-test against my old twist joystick. Feels surprisingly light when operating! I wanted an accurate feeling so I went with the cam6, haven't tried the new softspring as I think that would be too soft! I want crisp centering so I'm using the inner slot for the spring hook and I cranked the spring out for some 20mm for a bit of more centering force. I got the pedals because there seems to be something in the product philosophy that resonates with me. If you got regular plastic pedals you'd still pay almost a half the price of these - and MFG seems to have many advantages, above all configurability. This is probably lost on most users though as pretty standard settings and about a minute of adjustment made them certainly good enough for me :D But basically you can make them behave exactly how you want in a number of respects. (Even the width can be modified with some limitations, I think in the smaller direction at least. The default seems very good for a person of regular or slightly large size.) In the center there is a bit of vagueness - the feel is like a bit sticky or sucking sensation, quite gradual and it doesn't lock in the exact middle but usually you would be 1% off if you try to carefully center it. This however is eaten by a deadzone of about 4 inside DCS. A more digital center position could be interesting but then again it might feel very abrupt - I can imagine this being a rather difficult aspect to optimize. I wonder if one could make a small careful adjustment with a file - for a perfectionist it might make sense to ask for a double of your favourite cam profile to be shipped with the pedals, as the part is cheap to manufacture and most of the cost is probably in the additional hassle involved. I did little setup for the firmware - basically a 5 minute calibration of the 3 axis and saved that. Already works great and I'll check out the rest of the settings later. The pedal plates and toe springs feel just fine with the default settings. My thoughts so far are a little mixed. The high quality is apparent and obviously the product delivers what it promises. Then again it starts to be the expensive kit in your simming and it feels a good throttle brings more value per buck. (Also these are my first pedals ever so I don't have much comparison point.) If you must have all top of the line kit, go for them. Going to anything even more expensive would be a hard sell, at least for me :D Perhaps skip otherwise... for serious helicopter flying they are obviously a good choice, will make your spinning more accurate and natural. Plus I guess the two toebrakes will yet be useful for something...

Australia's first two advanced fighter jets delivered

You're saying you don't believe in numerology? :smilewink: -
One new combat aircraft is something already right? Lol... yes :megalol: But developers use them to communicate things... or, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Bumping the 3rd section in the number doesn't sound that big to me :D

Another thing is that the laser reportedly can get tired. Also maybe pay attention to what the hud/screen is showing for locking status. We'd need a few tracks to really show it. Quite puzzled by this statement... care to elaborate or take this to another thread?

Written as a true professional  I would have gone for more bucks and quick fixes :music_whistling: Can't wait to shoot down a few :smilewink:

New combat aircraft that matches the corresponding Redfor offering and I can't believe how little hype there is
-
The community could maybe make AI items and static assets like bunkers. Dunno if survey level aircraft and vehicles would be a good idea but the DCS community is growing so new possibilities will open again in a few years.

This is a high priority bug. Worse than the Hornet situation. After all the Old Kamov is one of the flagship modules from way back (when I also had the one and true module...). Will the Hornet be the same in 10 years as well? :music_whistling: This was an issue in the Helicopter Tournament 2. Cloudy weather and shkval is unable to lock absolutely anything. Blufor gazelles wiped the floor with Redfor. Come around HT3 with blazing skies and noontimes - Blufor imperialists gloriously sniped to death by mighty vikhr. I think I've now run into this several times in a couple of evenings of flying. Skhval might work at first, then suddenly stops working at some point. I'm turning targeting and laser off and back on again and often it seems to work and sometimes doesn't. Would be nice if ED could drop a short comment. I can imagine it's not just fix that one line of code and go home type of thing. Of course we will understand if there is no word and ED just drops a MASSIVE bugfix one day very soon. But it's been broken for ... months at least. Thanks for the summary! Is this documented somewhere... info like this could save "a few" headaches.

Stable became the same version as OB again today so the features are the same right now… and they're already quite a bunch.

Number of cores shouldn't help that much and yes it's good but you know best yourself of course :D

POLL: Air to Ground or Air to Air? Whats your thing?
Varis replied to Rhinozherous's topic in DCS 2.9
Even the Gazelle L works best when shooting down other helicopters. And the old Kamov can do it too. -
Sounds like you're new to sims. I've never flew WW2 sims since I think Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and the Spit was no issue to take in the air. Reading a good guide will help if there is difficulty! How about helicopters? A very different world. Mig-15 and L-39. Do you want air to air or air to ground? Mig-21 can be a quite challenging experience. The Viggen is godly but going beyond the basics it may feel like you have to put your brain backwards and warp back in time. A complex modern plane like A-10C (and Viggen too) you have to learn in very small portions. Learn one function at a time and add to a slowly expanding base of knowledge. There isn't that much fun in DCS if you can't learn into this kind of a process.

Somehow don't see it happening for a while as Russia is involved, conflict is ongoing and highly controversial. On some forums the whole subject is banned (for a reason).
-
Large transport helis would be interesting if they go for the Russian ones. Mi-6, Mi-10, Mi-26. Might even make sense as a survey level module - perhaps free to fly, we don't have helicopters and DCS does a quite nice job for their dynamics as well.
-
Just one module is not a believable DCS scenario in any kind of a long term view :smilewink: Besides any outstanding bugs (guess you'd only bump into them once you get going, hasn't bothered me yet) and the VTOL challenge, the Harrier has fairly modern systems with MFDs just like the Hornet. Makes much more sense to go with a more simple and/or vintage aircraft at first, your progress will be more smooth. Gazelle, Mig-15 or Sabre, F5, L39 (there is a quite nice but challenging Cadet campaign). Plus you'll be able to play the interesting missions out there that aren't all about top-of-the-line kit.
-
I don't think I've seen anything move on idle... not sure of the tanks though :smilewink: but all aircraft I have including helicopters.
-
There's room to expand left and right, especially the 60's and 70's I think would rock in DCS. And it's not Soviet only. Just look in the threads where it's not off topic ;)

Wow that's a good point man! I already spent a gigaton of funds on the old modules so not looking to buy the 'cat anytime soon although I know people around me will be flying it and it's gonna be great fun for everyone involved. But I can understand a few people paying for it and now it taking way longer than they expected... there will be a few drops of sweat on somebody's forehead. I'm just amazed at how calm the community is keeping! :shocking: Probably something to do with HB's excellent reputation - there's the Viggen and so and funny how nobody is even asking why they spend effort on Viggen when there is the 'cat to finish :D There are many different approaches how to handle PR as I've explained in some other thread. HB's approach seems to be working to me.

Happy to read this! My general feeling about CA has been a general disappointment... but it's not a really hopeless module either. The action is slow and has a clear simulator feel into it - you have to view it in a different light than your typical RTT game nowadays - the value is in integrating it with the rest of the DCS. In particular I think a much improved CA would make DCS the #1 platform for helicopter warfare as well. And maybe the other way round - give the CA player in the campaign a couple of obvious opportunities to save his/her bacon with an application of helicopters and you make the whole experience click for a moment. Back to topic: What I feel that kind of kills the CA experience is not that there are not enough units or the mechanics are bad, not to mention obvious engine/terrain limitations, or even that something key like the infantry stealth factor or transports un/loading infantry is missing. It's more the playability issues and quality of life things like you can't figure out a tank's LoS from above and then they get popped one by one because there is very little AI to work around the limitations. Artillery UI is not convenient, there doesn't seem to be a persistent "main camera" position, etc...
