+1 One thing I want to add is the blast of having toe brakes. Never thought those would make such a difference but wow, the do (after getting used to them).

First ever DCS: F-4E Phantom II Feedback Thread - May 22nd 2024

Not a single crash with the F-4E here, but I've only used it with Caucasus and NTTR, so far (i.e. since release day) -
The art of MMMM: Mentally Managing Multiple Modules.
Tom Kazansky replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
Forgetting about some details of a module after a while is not only a disadvantage. e.g. I came back to the A-10C more than three times, and I always had to learn some procedures, systems and methods again. But every time it was worth it and the Hog felt even better and better, so I'm looking forward to coming back to my favourite modules after having had enough fun with the newer ones. -
had the same two days ago and can confirm what Flappie said:

lol, really funny. but what ever helps... thank you and @Mr_sukebe for your help!

same here. Maybe I misused the "Jester Context Action" key before I tried to get an A2G lock, but I saw it once (in the backseat), that Jester's video source was off, and not "Radar". I switched it to Radar manually, and everything worked fine.

now it's getting interesting.... coincidently, yesterday I had to exclude a F-4E file from my antivirus software to be able to run DCS. So I tested with AV off afterwards, and that reduced the spikes, but they were still there (with Foldable view unticked). Now I just tested your suggestion @Flappie and the spikes are all gone completely when I press that icon (which is selectable in Foldable view). I know that this icon displays all keybindings. So it should show exactly as many as unticking "Foldable view" does, but the difference is like day and night. How did you know Flappie? Are there any insights you can give us about the differences between those two methods of showing all keybindings?

Will try tomorrow. Thanks for taking a look at this.

that's really helpful! The massive spikes are gone as soon as I enable that tickbox! (And they are back when I disable it. So enabling the foldable views is a perfect workaround for me.) thanks a lot! So it seems too many keybindings shown at the same time are causing problems on my system.

thanks again. I only have Stick, Thottle, Rudder, Mouse and a keyboard/Buttonbox on USB. Here is the CPU state when it happens. My CPU does not seem to be overwhelmed by DCS in general, but when those spikes occur I see the first two cores have very short spikes too. In DCS the frametime spikes are very odd (only in the control settings menu):
-
Thanks. Will check that tomorrow and post what I'll find out. Can you imagine a reason why that menu maxes those CPU cores? And what can be done about it?

We have 2024 and I have this issue with DCS for some months now, getting worse it seems. As soon as I return to game, everything works fine and smooth. Only the control settings menu goes crazy while flying in VR. Has anyone here found a solution for this issue?

Would Heatblur consider re-naming Jester for the F-4E?

Thanks for the clarification. My brain was washed by Top Gun (1), so I was not able to think of another Jester that is not Michael Ironside. - see my forum name?
