Absolutely this! Deadzones are poison for precise flying like AAR or tight formations anyway.

Curve on stick vs the real one.
Tom Kazansky replied to Gunfreak's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
AFAIK the first versions of those force sensing sticks did not move at all but pilots had a too hard time to get used to it. Long story short: what you see in those videos does not reflect the amount of force that is used, so you should not want to transfer that to your non force sensing stick imho. -
As I tried it last time, I used a smartphone with an USB connection to my PC for e few minutes, activated DCS offline mode and that was it. Before changing hardware you can do the same steps to go online and after that to go offline again. That's not a big effort and obviously not expensive. Doesn't have to be your smartphone. So that's a fair deal ED offers us imho.

Kurioses Problem mit den Eingabegeräten. (Gelöst)
Tom Kazansky replied to WC-Ente's topic in Deutsch
can not reproduce ATFLIR 2nd Undesignate not removing TGT

That's unexpected indeed. -
can not reproduce ATFLIR 2nd Undesignate not removing TGT
Tom Kazansky replied to Swift.'s topic in Bugs and Problems
So we have two different behaviour with the same procedure. @BIGNEWYThis is not a case of missing public information, imho. Plz, take another look at this, if this is different from OP's track. Here is a very short track with 2.7.11.22211 current stable DCS that shows the bahaviour on my Hornet, that seems to be different from @Swift.'s. I just did the WYPT -> WPDSG -> undesignate procedure 3 times. FA-18C 2.7.11 WPDSG and undesignate Caucasus 01.trk (current stable, no mods) -

Tom Kazansky replied to Swift.'s topic in Bugs and Problems
I can't use your track because I have the current stable version. But just to clarify: When I designate a WYPT with the ATFLIR of the Hornet (with WPDSG) and undesignate, the "TGT" always changes to an unboxed "WYPT" on the HSI top right button. No matter how often I designate the waypoint and undesignate. Shouldn't this be the correct behaviour? Did I miss something here? -

Beautiful. A no brainer. Can't wait.

Danke. Ich hätt mir das Teil auch mit Schwingen am ersten Tag vorbestellt. Ich mag alles was ich bis jetzt gesehn hab. (and bc it is an English thread: Thx. The Bo-105 is a day one pre order for me, with or without wings )
-
jo, nur haben die von den Heeresfliegern so weit ich mich erinnern kann keine Schwingen. (Heeresflieger don't have wings AFAIK) EDIT:

Hi, Looking really great. I'm out of service for some decades now but are you sure German Heeresflieger do have those small wings on their rank patches like the Luftwaffe has?

A simple solution of cockpit click in VR: Finger-ring touch mouse
Tom Kazansky replied to Jenson's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm looking forward to reading your review. Any chance you can use it with the left hand so you don't have to get off the stick and don't have the mentioned problems? A video that shows how this thing works with DCS-MFD-buttons would be very appreciated. -
I know ED already puts some effort in CA VR support. I just want to give this wish a thread for all of us that can't wait to use CA VR vehicles in DCS in a more complete way. The lack of small details in the recent maps is especially in VR a minor problem. So it might be a good argument to delay non VR CA development but I for one don't care about that in VR. It is the atmosphere experiencing those maps on the ground and inside a virtual world that I usually fly over in high speeds, that I find very appealing. So plz ED don't wait for 100 GB maps and make VR a smooth transition from aircraft (which are great already in DCS VR) to tanks and other vehicles in CA VR.

Very well done ED! It's looking awesome!

another one with even flatter terrain. what strikes me, is the exact moment when AP disengages. It is not when the climb rates, descent rates or the G-forces are at max. It is after those changes. @19s after reaching a climb (for a brief moment). @33s after the change to a descent. If those terrains are already outside of any NATOPS limits for this AP-mode, it is ok for me. but I still don't see a reason, why R-ALT mode stays engaged while 3G+ pulls and disengages after that when coming back to 1 G. FA-18C 2.7.11 AP R-ALT disengages Caucasus 04.trk

Thanks for looking into this. I could live with that answer if it not only occured on pushes of the nose. It seems obvious that such a AP mode can't avoid a wall-like mountain but it only occurs when the AP tries to get back to level flight. Imho, it could do this within whatever limits it is able to put the nose back down. I don't see a reason, that a push after climb should be executed by AP so hard that it breaks the limits. I will try to find another terrain, thas is close to flat. And in addition: the R-ALT mode worked in those conditions like in my track before, some months ago. I'll be back...
-
I did a very fast barrel roll at 900 ft on my first flight just by switching from CP/G back to pilot which got the Apache almost out of control. My pants and me survived unharmed but close. That inspired me to try a loop. And it worked on first try. So the DCS Apache is definitely capable of doing those maneuvers shown in OP's video.

DCS 2.7.11.22211 (stable) Hornet's autopilot in radar altitude mode disengages istself when AP tries to push the nose down to level after climbs. Makes it useless, imho. I encountered this in low level flights and found it not too unexpected. It is obviously not a terrain following radar, but at over 4000 ft it should not happen. This very short track shows the issue several times within a very short period of time. I turn the R-ALT mode on several times but it disengages as AP tries to push the nose down after climbing. Hint: this is not a joystick-deadzone or input issue. It even happens when I set my deadzones to 100 (=dead stick). It happens not only in Caucasus. 1.) Is this a known issue? 2.) Are there no audio warnings in the real Hornet when AP disengages (or enters ctrl-steering mode)? FA-18C 2.7.11 AP R-ALT disengages Caucasus 01.trk

And let's not forget, 2 of those 3 ACL modes are flown manually, what could be a good training for understanding and mastering a non ACL case III recovery imho.
