I wonder if it is worth putting a lot of development efforts into SSLR instead of skipping to the raytracing-technology already.
-
The landscapes are not much affected during daylight, but you should have compared some cockpits as well. E.g. the cockpit of the Mirage looks different now. Especially those glassy weapon-select-buttons at the bottom left of the front panel look much more realistic imo.

Have you maxed out your visibility range in the graphics settings? When my settings had a small range I also had problems finding ground objects, because they poped up only at close distances. However, I did not test this in 2.5.6.

Yes, the fix for this bug has been announced already. I had problems with my password, but now it is fine. I guess the newer version just contains the login-fix.

What do you guys think about the new style of the battle-damage-assessment-messages? I liked the older style much more. The blue backgound is somewhat annoying. Is there a way to revert this?
-
I see. Have you tried to decrease the overall gamma of your PC or of your monitor? If you do not want to change those settings, you could also try to use reshade, which gives you a lot more graphics options for DCS without having to change the general settings of your PC.
-
I can see some "rings" on this picture similar to those rings in the blue sky in DCS. For me they disappear when I increase my gamma, although I need pretty high gamma values for that. So I think the sweet spot is where those rings are barely visible, while the gamma value is not too high to prevent making the scenerey look washed out.

That is a bit weird. Why should the Hornet-wing reflect the Navy-logo so clearly? Its material should be more diffusive.
-
It is strange that this problem occured for enumerators. I mean the IDs might have changed, but the identifiers from the enumerator world.event should be the same. Isn't that the case? Or is MOOSE using the IDs directly? Maybe you guys should create a wrapper for the IDs to make the future maintenance of the code easier. :)
-
Maybe you should lower your gamma value.

Nice progress! Will there be any additional light-ray-effects? Currently you can see the point lights, but no small rays that are located around the points of the light sources. It is probably not easy to get that effect right, but I wonder if ED is working on it.
-
I am afraid they are two different technologies. Screen Space Reflections are the reflections projected from what is displayed only on your screen, whereas ray tracing also shows reflections from the offscreen. Probably DCS is not making any use of RTX right now.

Just to make sure: Will the update of the damage model include fixes for WW2 ground assets? Some of them are extremly tough.

Let's just close this thread until patchday. :(

fixed Floating Cranes in the City of UST' Dzheguta
Tiramisu replied to Chapa's topic in Bugs and Problems
As you can see in this picture there are two cranes floating above the city, which is also visible from far away: The coordinates of the location are displayed at the bottom of the screenshot. Please remove the cranes, because it spoils the interesting city in which I would like to create some helo missions. :( -
There is still one question left open for me: When I have tried to buy the Supercarrier-DLC I got a warning, that I will not get an additional copy for the Su-33, because I already own it. So does that mean that I should buy the Supercarrier as a Steam-gift to get an additional copy of the the Su-33? I would like to give the aircraft DLC to someone else and give the Supercarrier to myself as a steam-gift. Is that possible?
-
Ok, that makes sense for me now. Although it is still not the exact discount like for normal E-shop-buyers, because on steam the calculation of the discount is 50$ * 0.7 * 0.8 = 28 $ wheareas on the E-shop it is probably 50$ * 0.5 = 25$ That is just a small difference, so I do not want to complain. The price is still very fair. Thanks ED!
-
Thanks for your reply. I own the Hornet on Steam, but I only have the -20%-Prepurchase-Discount in my inventory. When I add the Supercarrier to my shopping cart, then the final price is 26,39€, so there is no Hornet-discount for me. Only the pre-order-discount.
-
If it is ED's decision not giving the discount to Steam-users of the Hornet, then I respect that. I just would like to to know if this is really an intentional decision or a technical problem. If it is a technical problem, then maybe it can be solved in a few weeks, in which case I would wait before pre-ordering. So is there any official statement from ED about this? Can Hornet-owners get a second discount on Steam?
-
Yes, and in addition to that I think the enivronment should have an increases blue tone dependent on how much bright blue sky is available. In real life the light from the blue sky makes the ground look more blue-ish. I have found a workaround to get that blue-ish tone with ReShade, which makes DCS look better during day (not at night of course).
-
No, it is not camouflage. The same holds true for aircraft skins with a good visibility.
-
The skycolors seem to be too dark even on low altitudes, when you are looking up at high angles. Maybe the Rayleigh scattering of the atmosphere needs some rework in DCS. It would certainly make dogfights easier, if we do not loose our targets against the dark blue sky so easily. Currently I have set my gamma value at max to see bandits above me.
