ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
bumfire replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Haha, its named the Delta Flyer from Star Trek :) -
It isnt exactly a sim, but if you want to fly and have buddies in tanks etc, you might like to try arma and arma 2 Armed Assault and Armed Assault 2 is the proper names, its about as close to what you want as you can get at this moment in time. As someone already mentioned, the infantry part is as close to a sim as you can get when it comes to FPS games. however, that being said, there isnt anything thats truly "sim" that encompasses Sea, Air and Land, which is a pity, but they are working towards such things, the computers just need to keep getting more powerful and maybe within 10-15 years we will se something like that.

My fav car is my Audi rs6 :D which the other half wants me to trade it in for a dumb bmw x5 due to "child safety", that and the fact that last years winter saw the audi stuck in the snow more times than I care to remember. She has been told to GTFO, the kids are safe enough in the back seat as is.
-
As far as I am aware, the sim already runs on multiple threads, so I am unsure if setting affinity would do anything in this case.

Thrustmaster Warthog & Rudder Pedals?
bumfire replied to Gonzo01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Saitek is coming out with new Combat pedals, they are much nicer looking than the saitek pedals that are already available. They are called Saitek Combat Pedals or soemthing, they have metal foot plates, toe brakes and the usual features of pedals. Those are the ones I am going to grab when they come out. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/compedals.html -
Sli is useless for lockon and dcs blackshark. Not sure if sli is worth it for a10c, but I suspect it wont be, as the only sli mode that I found to be of any use in lockon and ka50 was the Sli AA, which gave you more anti aliasing. The rest of the Sli modes didnt really do anything and it was better just using a single card for the sim. Now, as I said above, I dont know if things have changed for A10C in regards to sli, but I would take a guess and say its unlikely that things have changed to a point where Sli is now worth using in this new sim.

I thought it started at 0 but green ? Even though it says 0, he could easily have a few neg reps, as it takes a few reps to get you moving from 0.
-
Why does selot have neg rep ? he has only 2 posts and both posts are in this thread, why would anyone neg rep him for the two above posts ??

Cheers Bud ;)

Alot of that stuff is real, not sure if all of it is, but a helluva lot is. Cool site btw ;) EDIT: Submersible Space Shuttle or Jet Submarine Liner - at - Dry Dock that pic I think is from a movie, the 2012, the huge ships that are the ark's due to flooding etc. Not sure but thats what it looks like to me.

I havent pre-ordered A10C because my new pc arrives this week, the parts do anyway, and this rig just wont be able to handle the sim, so I havent got around to downloading the game yet, I will end of this week once I build my new rig. But, before that happens, would it be possible if I could get a copy of the manual from someone or even if there was a manual download link on the website so I can read up and learn a few things so that I can get stuck in at the end of the week ? Cheers.

I have it if you need it, I can upload to my site for you to download if you cannot get it anywhere else.

1 month with SSD(Solid State Drive) - Great.
bumfire replied to 815TooCooL's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use 2 120gig ssds in raid 0, pc boots in 5 seconds, the longest thing is the bios, bios taks longer than the actual boot sequence :| They are great things, but they are a pain in the ass to keep them upto speed, you constantly need to clean them, as GC and Trim doesnt really do shit. Granted, when they are slow, they are still faster than normal harddrives, but they really are a pain to keep in tip top condition, once you get into the habit of keeping them in condiiton, it sucks you in like a cult and you will be forever checking the speed of them and then cleaning them etc. Also as Conuk said, Trim dont work in raid and if you are unlucky to have an NForce chipset, it wont work on that either even if you only use a single drive. Nforce chipsets are the bane of an SSD's life, as you will be lucky if you can even flash the firmware of a ssd on a nforce mobo, and not forgetting that nf chipsets dont do ahci which is the best mode to have ur ssds running in. All in all, for those who are planning on buying one or two, dont just jump into it, read up about them and also read up about if your mobo is compatible with them, because they can be hellish things to get running right. But as Al pacino says in Donnie Brasco, " This is a Beautiful thing", once up and running correctly, they are beautiful things and your OS will never be the same again. Oh, and did I say that they are great for loading lockon/dcs :D -
How do you pronounce UEFI fast?
bumfire replied to zakobi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
About time BIOS died out, uefi been out for ages and was supposed to be the next big thing about 6 years ago. Even now, board makers cant agree on what system of uefi to use. They say 2011 will be the year it takes off, but I am not too sure about that as no one can agree on a system to use. We will have to wait and see if it does take off in new boards from 2011. -
radar alt hold autopilot will keep you at X height above the ground, but its only really good for flat or land that hasnt got lots of big hills etc. Baro height hold, will keep you at X height regardless of the terrain. Baro is the preffered choice IMO, as the radar alt hold will constantly change height with regards to whatever height the terrain is that you are flying over.

Does your board suffer from a whining noise when C1E is enabled ? I aks because I have just ordered i7 950, x58 udr3 rev2 and 12 gig of 1333 7-7-7-20 ram and a corsair h70 cpu cooler. It was only after I ordered did I hear about the whine problem. Supposedly related to certain psu's and C1E, so I hope I dont suffer from it, as I had a video card that had a whine from one of its coils and it bugged the shit outta me. I will be using my old trusty Hx850 psu, so I pray that isnt one of those psu's that are known to cause the whine. Now all i waiting for is a thrustmaster hog stick, and the new saitek combat pedals when they get released, then DCS A10C, the new IL2 game, I forgot its name, the one about battle of britain and GranTurismo5 and thats me sorted until january when I will think about dumping my ssd's and getting a new set.

I bet that was a total PITA to figure out and then when you did, I bet you were pissed at doing all that work to fix it to find out all you needed to do was tick a box. I hate when I find myself in similar situations, it really is annoying.

Uninstall your drivers, boot into safe mode, clean out remnants of old drivers with driver sweeper by selecting ati, then reboot and install new drivers and start over. Thats what I would do, unsure if you already do this, but its really important to clean out remnants of old drivers with driver sweeper or driver cleaner etc before installing new drivers, or you could end up with loads of problems. Not saying thats the case here, but if you cant get AA to work, the usual suspect is dodgy drivers and 9 times out of 10 its usually fixed by a uninstall/clean/reinstall.
-
Andy, wait and see if you can get the new saitek pedals. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/compedals.html Thats the ones I am going for after I found the CH ones to be too close together and I dont want to pay 280 euros for simped ones. They should be out soon.

Its cool dude ;) personally I dont care who has what and where they got it from, it aint none of my business. I just thought that I would pass on the story about the technet clampdown is all.

It could be ticking because you havent defragmented your harddrive for ages, and your harddrive is seeking, the head of the hdd is rapidly moving over the platters looking for info, due to it being fragmented and being all over the place on your hdd, hence the ticking like sound. If that is the case, then a good defrag should fix it. Ticking in harddrives in general isnt anything to worry about, all hdd's make a noise, some worse than others. The only time you should really be worried is when your drive starts making weird noises that it has never done before and when you start getting corruption and crashes. Personally I dont think what your hearing is a sign of a faulty drive, I just think that your drive is needing a good clean out, possibly a good format and a zero wipe and then start again, it could also be caused by the state of your pc, too many things needing access to the hdd at the same time. Something else could be trying to access the harddrive at the same time as you play the sim ? or it could be caused by your antivirus rapidly scanning every single bit/byte thats being loaded in blackshark, thus causing a slight stutter when the hdd reads, which would make a noise like its ticking. If its your AV, then disable realtime scanning on reads/writes whilst playing the game and see if that makes a difference. But, if your pc is fine and having no problems when it comes to crashing, corrupt files etc, which you can scan for, if thats ok then usually you shouldnt have anythign to worry about. Also, if the S.M.A.R.T when its read by the diagnosis tool from the harddrives manufacturer, if that says the drive is good, then its good. So you can check and do all these things before thinking its a dead or dieing hdd. But then again, it could be dieing.

Ghostdog, pray that you didnt just buy a technet key for win7 that someone was selling, as last week MS cracked down hard on technet accounts, if you did buy a technet key, dont expect for it to last long, as MS is hammering technet atm for piracy. When I say hammering, I mean a hammering, usually with a technet account people got 10 keys for each item, so 10 keys for win 7 ult, 10 for pro etc etc, now they only get 2 keys, because of ppl selling keys on craigs list and ebay, plus MS are banning all keys that are coming from suspect accounts. So I hope the saving you got, didnt come from buying a technet key, as they really are not worth the money because MS is freaking out about piracy from within technet accounts.

Why Frederf isnt a Beta by now, unless he doesnt want to be, is beyond me, as this dude knows tons about this sim.
