  1. I'm pretty the Super Hornet has the ability to call up specific pages with certain switch presses based on things like current master mode or what page you already have up on the DDI. Is this something that exists in the legacy Hornet or does this fall under what you guys are already talking about?
  2. I'm looking to work on the Black Knights skins after I finish up what I'm working on right now. Is there a certain time period you have in mind?
  3. In my opinion the F/A-18C is a great plane to get to get started with. It’s quite forgiving and not too hard to learn how to fly. It can perform air to air, air to ground, SEAD really well. The basics are pretty easy to get but there is a lot of more complex systems you can learn, but not yet on the level of the A-10C since it still is in early access.
  4. Hi SMN, not sure how to reposition or resize the MFDs, but there is a way to remove them entirely if that works for you. Navigate to DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\MDI_IP1556A\indicator and open MDI_init.lua. On line 4 it says purposes = {render_purpose.GENERAL, render_purpose.HUD_ONLY_VIEW} Change this to purposes = {render_purpose.GENERAL} You will also have to do this for the AMPCD, the process is exactly the same, you just have to do it in the AMPCD folder under Multipurpose_Display_Group.
  5. If I remember correctly MAGIC CARPET is a new development and won’t be present in our Hornet, but we will have the Automatic Carrier Landing System. There’s already an ACLS pushbutton on the HSI if I’m not mistaken.
  6. Shameless self plug, my mod will have JTAC’s read out coordinates in lat/lon. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=228750 Real hornets allow you to enter coordinates in MGRS, this is coming later in the beta.
  7. I’d also recommend using the this reskin for the Stennis’s deck, it makes those lines a lot clearer. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=213325
  8. VFA-127 Desert Bogeys
  9. Antennas should all be on a layer called radio.
  10. Will be posting the download in a couple days once they're all finsished.
  11. IRL you can also enter the location as a grid, but this isn’t implemented yet. I think Wags also mentioned it in one of the very early Hornet videos.
  12. Pretty sure we already have either the C5 or C17 in game.
  13. Not sure if you're still looking for these, but I've been working on these for a couple days and just found this thread. Unfortunately due to how big the numbers on the nose are and the unusual position of the tail numbers it isn't really possible to keep the skin realistic with changeable bort numbers, so I'm making about 5-6 unique ones. If you're still interested, once I'm done with those one's I can make a special one that won't look as authentic, but will have the ability to change borts.
  14. Pretty sure I’ve seen a page about SA in the Super Hornet natops that shows threat rings, but not sure if our C model can do that. You can also use waypoint sequences to draw threat zones yourself on the SA page.
  15. Not at my computer rn so I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure hitting undesignate will Take you out of HACQ mode.
  16. I also played FC3 before buying the hornet. Learning to fly it is actually pretty easy in my opinion, it’s very difficult to put yourself in a spin or other dangerous situation in the air. Learning the ins and outs of all the different weapons, radar, carrier landings, etc. will definitely take longer, but since many systems are controlled through screens in the cockpit instead of rows and rows of switches in other aircraft there is a lot less you need to commit to memory. This was my first full fidelity module I bought and I am really happy with it. There are also a ton of tutorials for many aspects of the aircraft, many of which are from ED themselves, so the learning curve is not too steep in my opinion.
  17. I’ve been using this mod for a while and it does exactly what you’re looking for. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217821
  18. Easiest way to do it yourself would be to duplicate an existing livery and swap the textures with your own, making sure you keep the same names as the files you're replacing. You'd just have to change the livery name at the end of the description file.
  19. Maverick Slewing with TM Warthog I currently have a different button bound to TDC press which works ok but is far from ideal. A few weeks ago one of Wag's Mini updates talked about adding an option to not have to depress the TDC in order to slew. I haven't seen anything since then and I can't find any option in the menus, has this been implemented yet?
  20. This should give you a good overview on using unguided bombs.
  21. Never mind, I forgot what monochrome meant.
  22. Not sure if this is what it’s referring to, but you can pull up the map on any DDI by pressing HSI on the Support page, the only caveat being that it won’t show the color map in the background, just a black background.
  23. Here you go https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FE9BQif6Xfcae3qbtsShZJHmso2_aQu7 To install it, copy it to [YOUR DCS INSTALL]\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C\Liveries\FA-18C_hornet, or install it using JSGME, which takes a little more setup but is definitely makes it easier to install other mods/skins in the long run.
  24. Here's another.
  25. You're correct, all Hornets are able to operate in poor weather or at night, but the D model's in VMFA(AW) squadrons have some changes to aid when flying in such conditions. From what I've read, the all weather D Hornets use the AN/AAR-50 Thermal Imaging Navigation Set (TINS), which is like a wide angle FLIR for low level flight in poor visibility. They also carry the AN/AAS-38 Nite Hawk FLIR targeting pod, which has been upgraded over the years and seems pretty similar to the ATFLIR, as well as the addition of a raster HUD, color MFD, and internal lighting optimized for night vision goggles. There are also a limited number of F/A-18D's serving in AW squadrons that have been converted to the F/A-18D (RC) reconnaissance variant which replaces the cannon with electro-optical sensors. The sources I found for info on the usage of the different pods seemed a bit outdated, so I imagine nowadays they fly with the standard ATFLIR, but I'm not sure on that.
