    sun or no sun

hey guys, I just started a mission just 20min before sunrise. after climbing to altitude the sun was visible (due to altitude) but the A/C was not showing any sunlight (see pics attached). It looks like the plane is illuminated by the sun at the point the sun is visible from 0ft altitude... anyone who has the same problems or is it a known fix (didn't found anything on the forum) Best regards
  2. same here just this morning...you have to reassign the spawning positions...seems to happen to player flight only.
  3. I got the same "issue" - which seems to be the real thing. workaround: SSS down, SSS right... so you take the lower display for not to enable AACQ
  4. Sensor select depress != TDC depess...makes sense  Thank you very much for clarification
  5. Hey guys, I have a small mission set up with a C2 and a few red fighter in a flight of 4. The contacts are ID'ed as enemy from the C2 (lower part of the chevron) and unk from my ID (upper part). How can I ID them by myself? Which button do I have to use to use NTCR? Even with lock on one fighter 3 symbols turn red (with a form which is not in Watt's video)...see pic 2 when lost from radar (i came in quite close...) the contacts became red with this small bodies...see pic 3 best regards
  6. I don't see any problems... The range is limited to 5nm, so it should be used during dogfighting (only). AFAIK other ACM modes are up to 10nm - so way more distance to use. In terms of performance it works very good for me. As said before - dogfighting only. It takes a bit for the radar to cover all the space, but it locks in way less than 2 sec - faster than needed...
  7. today I tried AUTO bombing to one other post about "high alt. AUTO bombing" Mk-83 as it is said to be the most accurate bomb moddeld in the release system. How do you use this mode to get accurate (as much as possible with general purpose bombs) runs with preplanned coordinates? Possible sources of error: - inaccuracy due to unguided fall - coordinates read and insert limited to arc-sec - flying the line for percet release - TDC not able to slew (below the canopy when the target comes in visual range) - release during transient maneuver (eg. pullup during release) [by Robin_Hood] Is there any way to optimice the TDC location on the fly from high alt and far enough away to concentrate on flying the line?

    Laser mav

it looks like the laser mav's can lock up the signal way out of range - thus it is critical to hit the targets. The IR lock capabilities are worse - so when you can lock up the target you're close enough to make the missile hit. try the following: launch the laser Mav as you did before (so it ends up in the ground) and switch to the weapon view (F6). Follow the Mav and observe the last part before hitting the ground - does it have a high nose and low speed (<200knts)? This would be a good indication that it ran out of energy. Try to shoot from higher alt (less drag & more potential energy) and/or higher speed (higher kinetic engery). Currently it is hard to estimate the distance to the target - try to put a reference waypoint there. edit: spoiled by Rick :)
  9. The range circle does not vary when (de-)selecting LOFT (neither changing to another Sparrow type does...) my question: is the LOFT type to increase the distance from which is shot or just give the missile an energy adventage towards the target?
  10. I agree it is hard to re-center the radar. the good thing of the jumping caret: you can guess the altitude of the contact by looking the caret when the contact appears (also possible by the current bar number but for me way more intuitive...) When I need the radar back in perfect center i use the 1bar scan and move the caret towards the center marking
  11. I do not have this problem since i use the HOTAS button (guess A-key on keyboard?) to disengange the A/P. Maybe you can try it. Never had any problems using the HOTAS methode. PS: I know this is more a workaround than a permanent solution ;)

    FF vs EGT vs N1

right you are! but shouldn't there be a difference in FF as well? The (thermodynamical) reason for higher EGT is lower turbin efficency which gives you lower N1&N2 - FF fixed. Since the controlled parameter by FADEC is N1 - it tries to counteract the lower N1 speed by higher FF -> higher EGT. So at least one parameter should change too...
  13. I just flew some kind of training in Caucasus an observed some interesting behaviour of the engine panel. During cruise (@ 50,000ft) the gauge showed different EGT but the same FF and N2 RPM. The oil pressure seeems to vari a bit but quite suttle. Question: How can the engine achieve different EGT with same FF and N2? If there would be weare to the engine in order to achieve same RPM you would need more fuel (-> higher EGT due to lower efficency of compressor and turbine). Best regards edit: just found out the display shows N2 instead of N1...but N1 is also the same on both engines
  14. not the root of the problem: but try to fly a high speed low g radius at near 90° bank... This way you can make sure not to drop the nose by increasing the load factor pulling into the turn. at high speeds it is easy to have the turn way above the runway... From a ground point of view it looks like a realy knife edge pass
  15. since the last update they seem to have included some deeper engine simulation into the model....While cruse I get different fuel flow and EGT for both engines..quite cool!
  16. Do you use the high display resolution "mod" for better readability? This crushed my HMD...
  17. is there any way to check a box to get the beta updates or is it mandatory to use the dedicated beta version of dcs?
  18. Is there any way to "change" the normal DCS to update for beta?
  19. ThanXs for your replies! Ill investigate it later the weekend :D Good to know there is a performant and friendly comunity!
  20. Thanks for your posts. While the 9X is way different (better) in performance compared to the other AIM-9's. The difference between the 9L/M and 120B/C is less "visible"...so it looks to be more a measurement error than some tech. innovation... So I guess it is some kind of slightly higher statistical chance of successful tracking and hitting?
  21. Hey guys, can someone help me where the difference in the Sidewinder Versions L an M / the AMRAAM Versions B and C is? It seems they are exchangeable without any pro and con... Any suggestions? Best regards! edit: this not about the difference between Sidewinder and AMRAAM, but about the difference between the different versions of one type.
