  1. Kinda funny how the general public and NATO would know about the latest and greatest R-77-1, the previous RVV-AE and chinese counterparts, yet the R-27 remains the most secretive missile to ever have existed with undocumented upgrades no one wants you to know about. Gimme a break. Go find and talk to people who have both fired and serviced these missiles and you'll be a lot wiser. First hand evidence, no internet bullcrap from some random videogame forum.
  2. Chaff is a very simple, rudimentary countermeasure, literally pieces of aluminum or metal to reflect simple RF. Modern countermeasures are slmost purely based on EW/ECM or decoys. Chaff dates back to the 70's and 60's if not earlier.
  3. Yeah, no. Since 2.5.6 using anything above 2.0 results in a super bright, bloomy and overly washed out picture, especially in the external view. It's horrible. Maybe you should talk to ED and ask them why there was a need to slap on a HDR + bloom filter onto the game. And again, other bulbs/indicators seem bright enough regardless of your gamma setting, yet the AOA indexer amongst some other lights and indicators in the RIO cockpit are way too dim or barely readable. Like, I don't know anyone in their right mind who uses anything above 2.0 gamma in the current build.
  4. There's enough literature and sources which state that any post 90's missile shouldn't really ever go for chaff at all. You think engineers would simply ignore the existence and efectiveness of chaff for many years without any counter? The same way modern fox two's ignore pretty much any amount of flares and DIRCM.
  5. The 54C is all digital, its electronics can absolutely be compared to the 120, having more space for a more powerful processor and seeker. And again, the one line for the ccm value doesn't seem to have done much or anything after several hundreds tests. The new guidence, including terminal guidence and the notch gate should hopefully make this missile actually lethal. ;)
  6. Actually stumbled upon this video which shows the exact same thing done by the NAVY. Timestamp is around 1:47
  7. Really? A totally not biased and factual book? Really Soviet Ace?
  8. Lower your gamma? Enable global cockpit illumination?
  9. Yep, theres also this shimmy dampener issue. It also sinks into the ground quite significantly with brake application.

  11. Well, it certainly doesn't look like that for me (1.9 Gamma, because anything above that is literal cancer). How come the ACM panel lights are sorta bright enough but the AOA indexer is barely visible?
  12. IronMike said recently they are doing just that. No TCS and tank pylons.
  13. I think the Iranian one will be a seperate model so I dont see why anyone couldn't just make USAF skins for that one.
  14. Can we expect the Viggen to fainally exit EA with all advertised features as per December of last year in the August patch?
  15. No, I mean hearing Jester or your RIO clicking his buttons. That feedback you absolutely don't need. I get it for stuff that you press in the pilot pit or vice versa.
  16. Iranian's dont have the TCS and no external fuel tank hardpoints. No ECM either. And as far as payloads go, 54A Mk47 only, AIM-9P/J and AIM-7E.
  17. I mean, just read throught the thread I made "multiplayer performance" or go try it youself on a populated MP server. Literally takes maybe 10 minutes.
  18. Weaker radar than the 29? Nice one. The 16 also has Link 16 and at least the newer models the JHMCS and 9X, since we are kinda comparing it in the DCS World. Optionally a missile launch warning system as well.
  19. I don't know man, I think there's more to CCM in DCS than just this one line (value). Me and others did several tests, and the ccm doesnt really seem any better than before, while the 120's is definitely a lot better now.
  20. Will we at least see imrovements to the lighting and the radar fixed?
  21. Good luck with that.
  22. Who launches hundreds of aircraft? There has to be some form of communications and if the enemies EW is jammed (lazur system for example), good luck with those 29's. You'd have strikes on the infrastructure first before you'd launch a full on air campaign, amongst other things, it is not all black and white and who really knows what would happen in a full on peer war. If anything, look at Allied Force and any other engagement where the 29's faced NATO aircraft. BVR wasn't a huge part or not very effective in the 80's to early 90's. The only airframes capable of BVR were the 14 and 15 and the Mig-31, which wasn't really specialised against fighters.

  24. That is interesting because the chaff resistence got increased by a factor of 10 (same as 120) in the game files. There probably is some code deeper down that we can't see though. Let's hope we can finally get the new guidence API implemeted fairly soon since we were supposed to get it around the same time last year...
  25. I disagree, the friction seems to be just fine on the 29, Su-27 and Viper or Hornet. You can taxi the Viper almost in idle with a fairly heavy a2a loadout and surely when empty. Same can be said for the 29. So there has to be something or some tricks ED are using on their modules. I would even say the friction on the Viper and Hornet is a bit too low for my liking.
