Yeah, have to relearn BnZ.. No matter what I try something goes wrong and the huns always manage to stay on my six. At this stage it almost seems as if they can keep up with me when I climb. It's just boils down to me not knowing the limitations of these WWi era planes. Might fly the German side cos I'm much more of a turn'n'burn player.

Curious - did you apply the firmware upgrade that was just released before this happened? Just noting the date of your posting and was wondering if the firmware helped with this problem or not. Why don't you send it back straight to PC Case Gear. First port of call is always the retailer. Aus laws means that they have to replace anything that's not working or doesn't do what it's advertised. Don't let them drag the line 'It's the manufacturer's problem, contact them'. Direct from the ACCC website : The manufacturer is in a much better position to determine what is wrong with goods and how the problem should be remedied. Can’t I ask the consumer to deal with them directly? No. Consumers are free to seek a remedy from the supplier or the manufacturer. You may send the good to the manufacturer for diagnosis or repair, but you cannot require consumers to deal with the manufacturer directly. Remember that when you must provide a remedy to the consumer within a reasonable time so you should have procedures in place to follow up on goods that are sent away for diagnosis or repair. Also, if you find that there is a major problem with a good, or a problem that cannot be easily fixed, you should advise the consumer of this and allow them to choose their preferred remedy.

This game is a challenge. Flying these crates with wings sure ain't A10 or BS. I've rediscovered the joy in pure dogfighting though. Been playing with modern aircraft too long now and forgotten how to actually mix it up in a furball. The game is frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. I'm just learning the characteristics of the planes and boy is it different... even to a WWII era plane. Re-learning how to zoom'n'boom properly again and almost there. Haven't quite got it down but it'll 'click' into place one of these days. Until then I'll just have to suck up the spins, erratic turning behaviour, getting out-maneuvered and shot down constantly.... and this is in single player. Having said that though, I'm having a blast learning. I'm sure it'll be like the first time I played BS - the learning curve and adjustment period was vertical, but once you know everything and mastered the craft, the sense of accomplishment will be just as high.

I had the same problem. Tried different usb ports, installed it on my laptop, different TrackIR software, mate's computer. Nothing worked. No blue light to say it was tracking even though TrackIR5 can pick it up. I finally realised the unit was dead when I plugged in my bro's TrackIR and it worked fine. So unfortunately it looks as if your TrackIR unit has suffered hardware failure. If it's still within a year, you can notify Naturalpoint and they should send you another one as it's still under warranty. If you're past a year (like me), you're sol and have to get another unit. It's all good - gave me an excuse to upgrade to TrackIR5.

Are you happy with your thrustmaster warthog
WynnTTr replied to con3para's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Didn't someone else mention in another thread that the real A-10 throttle was plastic? I remember reading it, dunno if that's true or not. Plastic of not the unit itself is the heaviest thing I've had to play with HOTAS wise. -
There's a difference to not buying it cos of SF out of principle. But please don't not buy it out of ignorance.

I'd love to see how a SWAT team performs in the jungle, or long range rec missions. :) And samurai were the elite of feudal Japan. Not only in the military but also in social status. But they weren't what I'd call spec ops. If anything, I'd say they're closer to marines or rangers. I would say the ninja comes closer to what modern day spec ops does. Highly specialised training and under the radar type missions.

yeah I caved in and got RoF this weekend. The official site has the ICE demo upgrade on sale for $29. And with the plane sales, I got the ICE edition and all planes for just under $65. Great deal and what you'd expect to pay for a full game. The game is hella fun to play. The flight is relatively simple compared to BS - meaning that there's not a lot to do other than take off, shoot then rtb safely. That doesn't mean the FM is simplistic though. These flying crates are a whole different ball game.

This question has been raised (and, er, debated (the polite term)) on the interweb countless times before. It really depends on the theatre, the situation, the opfor, the roe, what they had for breakfast, and if they tied their laces clockwise or counter clockwise. I think the general grudging agreement is that any SF are tough mofos and that any SF would perform to roughly the same degree given a situation It's as much as the individual soldier as the training.

A Quick Review of the Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas!
WynnTTr replied to SniprKlr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice review. Yeah when I first opened my box, I was thinking was there any way to straddle this thing.. it was just so sexy. CH pedals are rugged but they're too narrow. It's got the nickname "The nutcracker" for a reason. Currently using Saitek pedals and they're nice. Wide enough with adjustable tension. Nothing imprecise about them and they've lasted quite a few tantrums when I got shot down while in a bad mood. Read up on some reviews about the saiteks. They're not bad at all. -
You mind posting your script or PM'ing me it please? I've got a new setup with my smaller monitor on the left instead of right and for the life of me can't get it setup right. Any help would be appreciated. Funny enough, my smaller monitor is monitor1, while my 27" is monitor2 and the main default display.

Cougar Owner asks: Do I REALLY need Warthog?
WynnTTr replied to twobells's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
have you got a WH to compare? I'm with Slammin. The modded cougar was/is nice, but the WH is nice too. It's a slightly different flavour. I agree 100% with Slammin's last post. It took me a few days as well but I've gotten used to the WH now and my cougar is now safely bubble wrapped away as a backup. But given the quality of this stick... To answer the thread - IMO, yes, the WH is worth it over the upgrade. If you can afford it you won't regret it. If you're tight for cash just hold onto the modded cougar - it's not that far behind at all. -
Anything but the coolie hat option.

If you have 4, I wouldn't upgrade to 5. 5 does have higher resolutions and is smoother off the bat. So you odon't have to use as much smoothing. However the same settings and effect can be obtained through tweaking your 4 easily. However if you're a new buyer or replacing a broken 4 (like me), there's no reason not to go to 5. It's only like $20-30 more expensive.

Kinect - an alternaty to Track IR?
WynnTTr replied to Pfadfinder's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm of the view that if you wait for the next upgrade, you'd never buy anything. Besides, I reckon it'd be at least another year (minimum) until something like Facetrack is as reliable as TrackIR and sold commercially. Just get it now and upgrade to whatever's new later - you don't know when that next upgrade will be. You could be waiting for quite a while. And spending $150-200 per year on your hobby is a damn cheap hobby. -
Yeah you're buying a pre-order. So you can pay now and fly it now or wait, pay later and er.. not fly it now. Or if you're the traditional pre-order type of guy, pay now and wait til it's released.

Kinect - an alternaty to Track IR?
WynnTTr replied to Pfadfinder's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't think so. Kinect is more expensive than TrackIR 5 and is tons bigger. What are you going to be playing sitting down in front of your computer monitor? Hardly the exercise/dance games that are specifically wrtten for Kinect. I doubt the camera is going to be as responsive as TrackIR with full 6DOF too. Then there's the problem of trying to scotch tape that big thing on top of your monitor. So why pay more for something that's bigger, probably won't be as smooth or responsive for what you want to be replacing... ie, TrackIR and 6DOF. If Kinect was at least half the price and half the size maybe. -
any one got the new thrustmaster A10. HOTAS
WynnTTr replied to con3para's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Dunno how you can sit at work knowing this. I'd be calling in sick. Me: Boss, i don't feel so good. Boss: That's not good. You coming down with something. Me: Yeah, I think it's called Hog fever. Boss: What? What's that. Never heard of it. Me: Oh yeah, it exists. Didn't you know that we're only a few chromosomes short of being a pig. Boss: Well you better go home then. Don't want it to spread. Me (muttering as I walk out): Only if you got $500. -
Question about autorotation for helicopter professionals
WynnTTr replied to Pirke77's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Superior to waht's out in the market? Most definitely. Name the next helicopter simulator out there that comes close. Would you rather fly FSX helicopters? -
???how does TRIPLEHEADtoGO performs???
WynnTTr replied to JEFX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Or you could still buy it regardless and enjoy the most sophisticated A10 sim out there while supporting ED in the process. Don't get me wrong, TH2GO would be awesome, but the sim itself is more, er, awesomer... if you're into sims then you'll be depriving yourself if you don't buy this regardless. -
Yep, had to check. My skin's green... a bright glowing radioactive green. Damn you!
-
Ask yourself this - Would you rather that ED didn't release any beta for us to play with and just released teaser vids of internal testing while we wait for the final release? Just think of ED as the Blizzard of flight sims - they'll release it when it's ready and the finished product is usually extremely polished.

Boys will be boys.... even when they're armed. Kinda reminds me of this vid of an A10 strafing run. Initial thought was wtf? is that the extent of it's power? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Iz5MwPsfyo&feature=related

Rofl! I was gonna say the same thing but chickened out. Was thinking surely you didn't let your wife near your gaming machine.
