Guessing you guys are tracking, but in dark mode - the forum banner has suddenly gone blank for the last week or so. Maybe an updated Marianas banner would look complimenting up there. Thanks!

winter update still on track? (yak-52 candlelit vigil)
Wing replied to twistking's topic in DCS: Yak-52
No damage model, for 3+ years... is kind of... frustrating. I agree. -
Looks beautiful. ED did a great job taking this into consideration!
-
Yeah, I have personally noticed alot of unique features especially on Guam, are copy pasted default buildings in game. Kind of a shame, but I cant expect ED to true model every unique area. One part that does stand out to me, is the Tumon Bay area... we should see a proper strip of famous hotels, and unique buildings in that tourist area. Not default island buildings all over the place. Hopefully ED will continue upgrading this map...

Thanks Eagle Dynamics, very epic addition to the DCS Core indeed

What is your source for this?

Temporary Solution Found: For FPS issues, The answer is the shadows - specifically from trees. I have noticed a radical FPS drop around the coastline textures as well. But turn your shadows down on this map, and you should see much better optimization. You're welcome.

Update on this, Marianas looks great by the way! Birdbath should go here: As you can see, the 4 water pumps shown

Funny thing is, MX makes the calls whether this loadout can be supported. Whether the jet is "FMC" and puts the final red X signature on whichever mod is installed, is safe and doable IAW with engineers. Aircrew does none of that, and the countless times I have had to tell a pilot, "No sir, that is not possible." Or "Sir, you are not flying my jet today due to *insert safety issue here*" is endless. You literally have no idea how the flightline works, so best to stay within your lane instead of disrespecting people that do this as a profession. (Especially the SME above Panther - who is assigned to crewing the USAF F16). Weapons troops here would also know much more about the tech data... I will tag, @Scrape, maybe he has insight with this.
-
Just a FYI, Crew Chiefs that have been in the USAF for a career - will know more than anyone else on the flightline about the technicalities of the airframe. Especially when it comes to wiring and the engineering of what can and cannot be approved. They own the jet, and ultimately... they can tell Aircrew that they are not flying their aircraft that day. Because the responsibility and safety is in their hands.

Finally arrived today! Just for future purchasers, can confirm it may take 4-5+ weeks!

When did you order yours? Order #6394 placed 5/20. Still have not received it…

available now Is it looking good for a second quarter release ?
Wing replied to ctguy1955's topic in DCS: Marianas
That is not true. HB even clarified, that Marianas was not delayed last minute. -

What is your source on this? Was not aware Ground Crew knew the "sekrets" ? -
Interesting that you received yours in Oregon. I’m on the Eastern side of the US and still waiting. @Echo179

Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?

For those that say "B52s are not utilized against SAM penetration missions". This was posted yesterday: -
An interesting request, but a very common part of USAF daily ops and procedure at Andersen AFB. Will ED model the "birdbath" in between both runways at Andersen? Corrosion is a HUGE deal in the pacific theatre, within the Marianas islands. USAF makes this standard procedure to taxi through the birdbath after touchdown prior to taxi to parking. "When this rinse is not conducted regularly, the costs and time to replace parts and grind down corrosion is astronomical when the aircraft comes back to depot," "Once the rust starts happening, it has to be ground out or else it will keep growing, even if the aircraft goes to a less humid location." The birdbath is vital through its sophisticated, cost efficient and earth friendly system, the birdbath will assist in keeping U.S. DOD and U.S. allied nations' aircraft operational and ready while deployed to Andersen. Transfer steerpoints from the F10 map into the aircraft - DCS: The Way
Wing replied to Comrade Doge's topic in DCS Modding
Waiting on functionality to copy/paste a list of flightplan coordinates into this tool. This would essentially provide a very convenient workaround until ED gives us this capability for the Viper/Hornet. Thanks! -
When it comes to the multicrew functionality of a B52 specifically, there are work arounds for lack of player crew slots. I.E. you can get away with a PILOT, and RNAV multicrew for a sortie, with the remaining crew stations AI controlled. EWO, Gunner, CoPilot, and NAV are stations that although would be lovely to populate fully in multiplayer, would not necessarily be required in order to get the jet downrange and effectively support JTAC/get on station over the AO in the DCS environment. So effectively the module could be flyable and enjoyed with 2 people multicrew (although ofcourse proper procedure, would be enjoyed with a crew of 4+).

@Tippis his reasoning on runway size is another uneducated one… I can 100% confirm there are Airfields on DCS Nevada, DCS Persian Gulf, and DCS Mariana Islands that fully support the B52, and are rated for such launches recoveries. If he needs me to list each and every airfield to prove this point - I will. But honestly I don’t think he is willing to listen at all, to anyone who actually has real world experience with BUFF ops.
