FPS drop in DCS 2.7, Time for a new PC?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to P51Chris's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Upgrading for DCS is always disappointing. MAYBE when they finally move to the new graphics engine in a few years time newer hardware will be more efficiently utilized but right now it's not worth it in my opionion. This goed double considering the hardware non-availability (and insanely inflated prices that come from it) -
I have noticed a change since last patch. When i set the scan zone to narrow, and then bug a track and manouvre the gimball is not static anymore when turning upside down for instance. When manouvreing now with a bugged track, i can see when i'm about to lose the track because the delay of the gimballs. This is excellent. Not sure if this is same in real life but it does help with the losing tracks 'for no apparent reason' . I'm sure other have noticed and can put it into words much better than i can, but any of you know what i am talking about and can say if this is the way it's supposed to behave in real life ?

MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
well ****. (i took out pictures for space). For me it is only the clouds that cause the drop. Thanks for showing this to me. I do not think that for me personally there is difference if clouds are set to 'nothing' in 2.5 or 2.7 but i guess for others there is. -
MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7

Well that depends on what your total FPS is. 10 out of 200 is not so bad. But 10 out of 50 is a big deal -
MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Make empty mission and turn clouds to "nothing' in the mission editor. Observe framerate or frametimes. Then exit mission, go in mission editor and turn clouds to anything that is not 'nothing'. Observe framerate or frametimes. It is not "2.7" that is causing this. It's purely the clouds. Turning clouds from 'nothing' to "anything" causes the FPS drop. Right now you have these options: - Hope for improvement from ED in next updates/patches - Turn clouds to "nothing" in your mission editor - Lower graphical settings until you have your old performance back (if you really want the new clouds that is) - or ... accept lower performance. Please help yourselves from doing all sorts of crazy things like completely re-installing DCS , and even re-installing WINDOWS?! It does not help, and if you think it does it's placebo. -
Notching AIM-120C [R-77], but still a hit

I don't own the hornet so neither have i. Altough i have been surprised once or twice by some sneaky hornets in the recent past. Take off from airbase, start climb. See an 18 on my RWR for a split second but going cold immidiately and is still 40nm away. *some time later* : Suddenly out of nowhere, missile warning with no F18 in sight... -

hmm ok. Different perspective, didn't personally look at it like that yet. edit* @104th_Blaze so i guess opinions differ on the hornet memory thing as well? Because i honestly thought that was an intended feature of the hornet myself -

Fair points @ blaze and Sven. I do not exactly know what the limits of CM are in the aircraft, (20 per second SEEMS a lot but i don't know for sure),....but the question is more general : "What if you use macro's to give you abilities that you shouldn't have". I still don't exactly know how you feel about this specific example: Let's say we do know what the CM capabilities are supposed to be (it's in the manual or something) and it's 10 per second. But you can find your way around that by using a macro. Would you consider that cheating, or not ? Just curious. -

Most of these ^ are strawman arguments. (track-ir, really ? Of course not every macro is automatically cheating, i've stated that numerous times already. We are talking about creating a macro that lets you dump more chaff than the plane can in real life, and goes beyond what the game intented you to do. Also please note i don't really care if a person dumps 20 chaff, or 15 chaff with one button or 15. But it becomes an interesting topic when the limit for aircraft SHOULD be 10 chaff. In that case that macro becomes technically cheating. The same can be said for editing files i guess, that's probably why they locked some of them (quite recently some missile parameters were locked, and for good reason) -

"pretty much" is key here. Because there are limits . Once you use macro's to go beyond these limits it's technically cheating. That's all i'm saying. Also i'm very disappointed in the way you chose to write your post. Bringing up other things completely unrelated in an attempt to create bias and steer away from the topic at hand. Pretty weak move and disappointing. -1 respect. -

Are you honestly not understanding what i'm saying or are you just acting dumb to avoid actually answering the question? You can't program CM's to do "whatever" you want in real life and not in DCS. Surely you know there are limits rofl ? Well.... see my first sentence If you are using macro's to do things that the game does not intend you to do ... ah whatever you know very well what i mean but you're just sticking your fingers in your ear and going lalalala. And what point are you trying to make with this comment about DCS not being 'fair' ? Are you saying that because this isn't an fps shooter nothing matters ? Ok then might as well write a god-mode cheat and have some fun onine ? -

What would you think if someone used a macro that lets him dump 100 chaff instantaneously in a satal match? Or, do you think the macro usage in the video's i posted is ok ? I'm talking about using macro's to go outside paramaters of the actual aircraft and the programming of DCS/other games. I think it's an interesting discussion, because certainly not all macro's are automatically cheating. But if you use a macro to do something that should not be possible, then in my opinion it is cheating. -

If you indeed speak for "the DCS community" , i can tell you that the DCS community is the only community that thinks the above is not cheating. If the DCS online community ever grows past the 100 or so people, that will change i assure you. We agree to disagree, even though i still think you're just too stubborn to admit that your stance is the wrong one -

Using macro's to dump 100 chaff in 0.1 seconds is cheating (and pathetic) . Nothing faulty about that and you know this but just won't admit. That's ok though. Look below ... "just macro's" : -

If you use a macro to do something that the aircraft or your hands are not capable of then you're cheating. Apparently this multiplayer community hasn't evolved/matured yet at all if everybody thinks that's ok. And you should have realized by now that i don't care much about rolling eyes, roll as much as you want you know i'm right. -

I think what dundun is using is a macro that lets you spam (for example) 20 chaffs within 0.1 seconds with 1 press. That is not possible to do with your hands, and is not possible to program in the real aircraft. However If it's just programming existing/possible (in real life) CM programs then obviously there's no problem, but he's talking about 15 chaffs per second. I do not think that is possible in real life, and it's also not possible to do this in game with just your hands. That makes it cheating. -

Never even occured to me to be honest GGtharos. To use macro's to do stuff you can't physically do is kind of pathetic , at least that's what i've always been taught (it's...well... cheating) I am very disappoint in flight sim community integrity if what you say is true GGtharos, but i also find it quite funny so i won't b^tch about it -
