Well it works. The sharpening not so much as it gives me these sort of vertical beams, but the color saturation works very good !

Phoenix missile broken on latest beta patch?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to Theloaf's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Is this still the earlier bug when phoenixe's would never give an active warning when fired in TWS , basically being 100% stealth missiles ? Or is this a new bug ? How would this look like in the other plane ? I imagine you'd see : 1) RWR (14) (looking at you) 2) RWR lock warning (STT lock) 3) RWR lock warning goes away (but you'd still be secretely STT locked ??!) 4) Do you still get an active warning from the missile itself 0.1 seconds before death or not ? -
hmm no i have not seen this. Thx for the tip i will try it out tonight for sure

Yes but wasn't this '32 seconds thing' regarding the hornet a bug or something ? Because on some discords you are not even allowed to discuss this 'feature' as they clearly see it as an abusable bug. Also i think you may be expecting too much of the first implementation of TWS. I mean even in the F16 tracks get lost all the time for no apparent reason, this is even MUCH worse in a busy multiplayer environment and i would not be surprised if this happens in real life as well. If your target starts to do drastic evasive manouvres it seems normal that you might lose the track especially considering the limitations of the F14 radar mentioned in the thread i quoted in regards to TWS. In the F16 i even regularly use STT just because TWS bugs are more flimsy in general. Especially in a steep dive tracks get lost really easily even though the target is well within gimbal limits. When you're both flying towards eachother and it's clear you're fighting eachother you might as well STT anyway. -

@Triggerjo23 What do you mean the aim120 will re-aqcuire ? If track is lost before the aim120 goes active the missile is just wasted. It doesn't even go active so i'm not sure what you mean ? And about "fixing TWS" issues ? Not sure if this is what you mean but from the thread below it seems that the awg-9 radar does not use ´velocity gating´ and is missing some gimball , and in all fairness it does look a bit ´dated´. I'm not hating (!) but i'm just curious what you expect from the TWS. -
I'm beginning to think that ED intentionally 'nerfed' the aim120 hard because pressure from russia or something . It's not just the chaff, the whole last part of the guidance is completely bonkers. I've been watching a lot of tacviews and it's actually like they intentionally miss. ? Even when there is no chaff. They will actually TRY to fly around the target , and it doesn't matter how fast they're going. Mach 2, mach 3 ... You only really have a shot on a slightly manouvring target from within 10 miles. Anything outside 10 miles means the missile trying extra hard to do something dumb.

Do Phoenixs go pitbull in STT or only in TWS?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to CBenson89's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
No, i just don't buy this whole "Phoenix is 'overkill version' of AIM120 Amraam" story that some of you are trying to push. Seems a bit like "The (Advanced!) 120 has this, now we want that for phoenix to because ... uhm... they're both missiles!! " -
Shouldn't TMS down just 'release' the TGP at once ? Why do i have to go to Area track mode first to slew it ? Good info in this thread though, i managed to hit all my AGM's just now i could even fire 3 at 3 targets in one flyover.
-
Ok well, it works, sometimes. Outside of 10nm is a no go though (handoff) , and if the handoff doesn't work first try you're in for a world of hurt. Either the TGP gets stuck, or the AGM65 cant change to bore/vis anymore. It works sometimes but it seems very very buggy still.

Indeed, some arguments make less sense when you apply them to absolute nonsense. Good point. You: "blarejkla;j erajkldsfja ds;lfkj ;lkj ! , got you !" -
Ok i will try that .

In all fairness, first two were kind of low speed when they got near the target. However how the first missile goes after that one chaff bundle that is 500 meters behind the airplane is hilarious edit* holy crap A.I fighter seems to have notched the first missile, maybe that's why it went after chaff So, in summary : Shots 1-5: Clearly missed. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Hiko was already dead. --__-- Amraams are completely crazy atm though, but this particular track is not a great example. -
hmm... TGP in "auto handoff" ... I have no idea i'll check. However, the mav does display the "handoff in progress" message, AND it even slaves to the intented target. But then the TGP has the "T" message , even though the missile is looking directly at the target

The "A" in amraam stands for "advanced". Phoenix has not "advanced", you can't just compare these missiles if they were the same thing. It's called "Aim -54 phoenix" and not "aim-54 ALRAAM" . Phoenix is NOT "same as amraam but better" !!@#!@# -
Wait, maybe handoff not working
-
Handoff is working np , it just won't get off the rails... sorry for bump what is this sorcery Edit* , ok after handoff you need to SOI to the missile camera, and then press TMS UP, once more And then you can fire edit* , nope when you do the above you switch the missile to bore mode. Yes it does fire like that and it's aimed at the same target as the TGP but it SHOULD fire in slave mode but it just won't.

It's always going to be some sort of form of "roll the dice" because there is no real radar and no real missiles DCS I don't think it's possible to model it otherwise. Best way i would guess would be if chaff has a small % of actually working IF your plane is in, or close to notch. So IF your position is right, and you release chaff , then a dice gets rolled. And to counter 'rapid fire' macro's maybe roll the dice only once per second or something. -
