sorry to tell you but you can't buy any 3060/3070/3080 now. And even if you can you're paying 2x MSRP. So..... well ..... you have no choice but to wait

The clouds just give you a 30% decrease in performance, period. Even "light scattered 1" . Turn clouds on in any way = minus 30%. This is in VR , but ALSO in 2d . In VR you get the extra problem that it looks absolutely terrible. Not just the clouds but the lighting overall is way off , and i can't even read my MFD's anymore because of the bad lighting. I just wish they didn't keep building extra features on this graphic engine but instead just focus on the new API. I hear very little from ED about this performance drop, and i don't have a lot of hope that this will be a quick fix.

Why ? It's a skill move. The 'backdash cancel' in tekken fighting games is technically a 'glitch' as well but it takes so much skill that the whole game has been revolving around it since the beginning of the game.

is desync i think. You can see the missile leave the wing but then it reverses ramming the wing a second later.

3090 available but...
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to Lange_666's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
17% .. lol. Few months ago bitcoin was at 12k ... now it's almost at 60k. I'll start to panic when it dips under 10k. This is nothing This dip is not going to solve the chip shortage guys sorry to say :d -

also in 2d pretty significant :

That's weird that turning clouds on/off does not make difference for you in VR ? Are you sure about this ? My system is very similar but for me clouds on/off makes all the difference. If i turn the clouds to "nothing" i have exactly same performance as pre-2.7 So i don't think it's the update itself but or me it's definitely specifically the clouds themselves : But ED is working on it i hear, let's just hope there is something horribly wrong for VR at the moment and that it will soon be fixed along with the server issues.

The above goes for 99% of nvidia control panel settings. They don't do jack in VR @Havok Sure the new clouds will add some overhead. But uhm 30% for those could puffs seems incorrect especially considering the quality of the clouds in VR. i7 8700K @ 5,2ghz (all cores) , 32GB of Ram, RTX 3090 Guess we'll have to wait and see if ED can make this work a little better in VR.

Clouds set to "nothing" and clouds set to "Light scattered". Suddenly full of orange and purple frametime thingies , also really irratic as you can see there's some green in there as well.

3090 available but...
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to Lange_666's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I bought my 3090 back in september and i felt like a complete idiot at the time. Now when i see prices and availability i'm glad i did. -
i7 @ 5,2ghz (all cores) , 32 GB RAM , and rtx 3090

When flying above the clouds it's about frametime going from 18 to 21 ms difference between clouds on and off. (so +3 ms with clouds enabled) When flying towards the ground without clouds frametime goes from 18 to 20ms. When flying towards the ground with clouds frametime goes from 21 to 27 ms. I will try what you mentioned but i doubt it will work, but thx anyway.

I find it hard to believe anyone is seeing performance inprovement in VR ? Who said they did ?
-
I haven't changed anything on my end. Just turning on clouds from "nothing" to "anything" is -30% perf . This is in VR , haven't tested in 2d yet. I'm watching 104th_bullet stream, i think GS server must be down or something because the 104th is packed but not fairing well desync wise.
-
Well i'm out of options so i'll try it.

Thanks for the tip but 'appear' and 'smoother' doesn't help me much Just by turning the clouds on (few puffs, overcast, low quality high quality not matter) will cost me 30% performance loss . (In VR) . i7@ 5,2 ghz, 32GB Ram and RTX 3090 . I would just turn them off but they're server side (and the populated servers all want to play with new clouds) so now i'm kind of out of multiplayer right now unless i drastically low every other setting which i'm not willing to do.

Clouds look pretty ok but also for me massive performance impact in VR. Going from 18 frametime to 25 , that's pretty massive. But i do have that "DCS VR OPTIMIZATION" thing running and mask is not a circle anymore but a weirdly irregular shaped thing. Maybe wait for the new VR shaders that might help a bit.

How does RWR know friendly radars from enemy radars?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So how does this work in laymans terms ? How does the F14 RWR distinguish a friendly aircraft from an enemy aircraft in a multiplayer server where some aircraft are in both sides ?? -
Phoenix missile broken on latest beta patch?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to Theloaf's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I was talking about the members in this thread. Not a peep from them about such a pretty serious bug, but enough "make chaff 0" comments though even though the chaff REALLY isn't an issue for the phoenix. Talk about bias ... -
Phoenix missile broken on latest beta patch?
Csgo GE oh yeah replied to Theloaf's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don't think i've ever seen a phoenix go for chaff since a year or so, at least not more than 0.1 seconds. Even if it seems to go for chaff for that split second it will go back on course right after. Notching the actual missile itself is also pretty hard for some reason (maybe desync or the high velocity). If you don't notch the plane radar before missile goes active you're in trouble best bet is to run the missile into the ground. Thing is, when you look at your RWR missile is perfectly on 9-3, and then when you look in tacview missile is nowhere near 9-3 . I honestly don't know why you're all crying about the chaff it's not even a factor with the phoenix. Yet this is not a problem i guess ? Completely ignored t
