In your opinion, what makes a SP mission good.
Dagobert666 replied to Diablo 1-1's topic in Missions and Campaigns
MY OPINION (just my 2 cents) Ambiance: -radio conversations. No blunt text. Voiced (with text overlay for non-native English people!) -Things that move in the world so that the world doesn't seem dead. e.g. a transport helicopter comes in while you are starting your helicopter. Interaction: -You have to feel like you are part of the world and that you can influence it. For example, in the protect the convoy mission you have the option of stopping the convoy via the radio menu. Credibility/plausibility: -A general doesn't send his AH64 into a combat zone where every other unit is a Manpad, AAA or SAM. At least not a Western/NATO general^^ What the Russians are doing is...different. -A voiced background introduction would also be great. So what's going on, how did it get to this point, why are we flying the mission now. -
Griffins MP Campaign: Remastered
Dagobert666 replied to Mistermann's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I also think that this mission is one of the hardest. Not because of the enemy firepower, which isn't that strong. But the city is so winding and confusing. You almost never have a line of sight. At anything... that's the challenge of the mission. Seeing the enemy at all.- 54 replies

Remember, once you are in the air there is only one way to communicate with the convoy in M01- 54 replies

Griffins MP Campaign: Remastered
Dagobert666 replied to Mistermann's topic in Missions and Campaigns
- YES - Only in this mission. - The entire mission once you are in the air. - It's not due to the difficulty settings in the ME. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THAT IS. Some crazy bug or conflict with a script. In my original mission it's not like that.- 54 replies

Griffins MP Campaign: Remastered
Dagobert666 replied to Mistermann's topic in Missions and Campaigns
We had the same problem... as soon as you're in the air the only thing you can do is: Right-CTRL + # [German keyboard layout] This is the keyboard shortcut for the main radio when the Complex Radio difficulty setting is on.- 54 replies

Griffins MP Campaign: Remastered
Dagobert666 replied to Mistermann's topic in Missions and Campaigns
As the original creator of the campaign, I feel very honored. I have given my full consent for Mistermann to revise this. I wasn't disappointed! Seeing my missions in new splendor makes me very happy. Mistermann not only raised the voiceovers to the next level, but as an American whose native language is English, he also made the content much more realistic and authentic than I would ever have been able to as a German. He also fixed most of the technical shortcomings of my original missions. I'll take Sever compatibility as an example. In My OG Missions the mission starts as soon as the HOST ends the >break<. Which doesn't work that way on a server. He made every mission startable on radio command. Dozens of other Tweeks of his are added. In short: I am absolutely thrilled with his work. He really raised the entire campaign to a PREMIUM LEVEL! THANK YOU SO MUCH Misterman! Absolutely awesome!- 54 replies

Additional George AI commands in keybinds (without interface)
Dagobert666 replied to Qnnrad's topic in Wish List

Hello, can someone explain to me what technology is behind it? I believe C-Scope is simply radar targets displayed on the HUD (IHADS), right? but what is behind LINK and ZOOM? I would be grateful for any information about this. Kind regards, Dagobert

at least the thread here is labeled as "later in early access". So it is planned before the Apache is finished. My guys are all pilots, nobody wants to be gunners. At the same time, babysitting George is very exhausting, especially in combat situations. Also, it is extremely immersion-destroying when you have to slave George every 5 seconds in transit flight so that you don't get destroyed by a surprise Shilka or Manpad.

The problem was apparently on my side. Restart PC...didn't work. BUT Restarting the router and transfer point worked. Why the DCS site (as the only one) was not accessible is a mystery to me. Network experts here? Now it's working again.

I've had it for the umpteenth time now. In the last few months, https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ has been going down again and again. Every time, not over a two hour period, NO... over the entire day. Every time I can no longer open multiplayer. Clearly ED has a problem. <profanity> happens once, twice... but somehow it slowly turns into a tear of bad luck. Every time I want to fly with my friends, DCS is down.

wip How make do I make the wingman do anything in SP
Dagobert666 replied to Count Sessine's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I wouldn‘t say they are useless..... BUT---> they are, unfortunately. I play DCS Liberation and "the AI makes stupid mistakes" is the main reason why I lose units. The Wingman topic is particularly sad. In airplanes, the AI as a wingman is at least occasionally able to fly a full mission without crashing for no reason. But in a helicopter....oh man... That's quite an insult. The AI can't do anything...not fly straight, not fight or avoid danger. It flies into every obstacle, it constantly flies into the attacking range of enemies when it attacks itself and is then shot down bluntly. A disaster. -
How often does an Apache hover on the battlefield?
Dagobert666 replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Casmo a former Apache pilot says. Hovering is death. There are very few popup maneuvers that are effective. The biggest problem with hovers is that you can easily be taken down by hidden infantry. Even an overlooked battle tank can hit a helicopter with its main gun if the helicopter is hovering in place. Hovering is too dangerous. Self-protection always comes before effect... ALWAYS. Because a destroyed Apache no longer makes any kills. -
The AI's ability to snipe the player out of the sky, AIMBot-style, with incredible accuracy is part of the problem. Even with manuel aimed weapons, it behaves as if it were radar assisted. Even with AKs... That's a big part of the problem. i.e The AI is superhumanly precise, even at the lowest skill level. If she fires at you, the projectile's trajectory is perfect. Only when you fly a curve or actively try to dodge, the shot misses. I had anti-aircraft shooting in my army training. Aim with Manuel, without technical support. From experience I say that even if the target flows straight, most shots miss. In a 0 stress situation without adrenaline and fear.

The rockets suck. However, I tested a mission concept in Syria where a friendly position are attacked by dozens and dozens of infantrymen (in waves) and tactical jeeps. you had to defend this position with your Apache. A single Rocket even remotely close to a 12 man infantry group and everyone is toast, EVERYONE RIP. In this scenario, rockets are KING. But in no other unfortunately.

Of course this is a bug. Apache is not a hover attacker. All real Apache pilots say that you should always attack while moving. However, I cannot explain how this bug was NOT known in advance. But it doesn't matter. A change (in the code) may have caused it at the last second. This definitely needs a hotfix..... ED? Could someone please tell me what's going on.

Yes, the Tacviews and the pictures were an enormous help to assess the situation. For example the hinds sneaking up on you. I would have thought it was a BMT or a T72 with the smoothbore Missle. Only thanks to the Tacview, I see that it was a Ninja Hind^^ Thanks again for the vids! It was great to see another group flying the missions. A group where the mission builder (Me^^) isn't there and can explain everything exactly what's going on. So a group playing the campaign "Blind". Thanks! One question: were there any points in the campaign where you didn't know what to do because the briefing or the ingame voiceovers didn't give enough clues as to what to do?

For me, George is currently still having huge problems with the 30mm GUN. Especially when both the Apache and the target are moving. Most of the time, Gerorg doesn't even fire. and The CPG is the one best at looking for enemies that aren't already known at the start of the mission. Currently you have to spam the SLAVE command every 3-5 seconds when flying over unfamiliar territory, hoping not to miss a AAA lurking somewhere. This is annoying and is an additional burden when flying. I hope George can do this on his own soon.
